Abstract
La réponse de mort cellulaire connue comme la réponse d'hypersensibilité (HR) est une caractéristique centrale de la résistance gène pour gène aux maladies des plantes. Les plantes se défendent également contre les pathogènes via des réponses de défense à large spectre multigéniquement contrôlées telles que celles modulées par l'acide salicylique. Le locus <i>DND</i> (Defense, No Death) d'<i>Arabidopsis thaliana</i> régule l'importance de la résistance des maladies à large spectre contre une vaste gamme de pathogènes viraux, bactériens, oomycètes et fongiques. Les plantes auxquelles il manque un exemplaire fonctionnel du gène <i>DND1</i> ou <i>DND2</i> présentent une déficience au niveau de la mort cellulaire par réponse d'hypersensibilité, mais font preuve d'une résistance gène pour gène efficace contre les maladies. Les plantes auxquelles il manque un exemplaire fonctionnel du gène <i>DND1</i> ou <i>DND2</i> présentent également un phénotype renforcé de résistance aux maladies à large spectre. Les produits géniques <i>DND1</i> et <i>DND2</i> sont identiques à des ADN complémentaires déjà connus, en l'occurrence, l'<i>AtCNGC2</i> et l'<i>AtCNGC1</i> qui codent les protéines à canal ionique protégé par un nucléotide apparemment cyclique. L'identification des gènes <i>CNGC/DND</i> comme régulateurs de la résistance aux maladies et à la mort cellulaire, et la disponibilité de l'information de séquence génique de <i>CNGC/DND</i>, offrent de nouvelles possibilités de lutte contre une grande variété de maladies de plantes.
