A presente invenção refere-se a um processo para a produção de ácido R-hidroxifenoxipropanóico oticamente puro ou um sal ou éster do mesmo pela reação de hidroquinona ou um sal do mesmo com um ácido Shalopropanóico ou um sal do mesmo na presença de um reagente redutor brando.
