A substância compreende qualquer um ou mais de uma seq³ência de aminoácidos, compreendendo a seq³ência apresentada como SEQ ID No. 2, ou uma variante da mesma, ou um homólogo da mesma, ou um fragmento da mesma, ou um derivado da mesma, ou um mimético da mesma; substância essa que é capaz de agir de uma maneira que é a mesma que ou que é similar a EtxB e/ou CtxB; mas sendo que a substância não exibe atividade de ligação a GM-1.
