Abstract
"DISPOSITIVO ELETROQUìMICO PARA CONTROLAR REVERSIVELMENTE A PROPAGAçãO DE RADIAçãO ELETROMAGNéTICA". Um dispositivo eletroquímico inclui um primeiro eletrodo transparente (106) e um segundo eletrodo (110) distribuído em áreas localizadas. Uma solução eletrolítica (112) disposta entre e em contato elétrico com o primeiro e segundo eletrodos, contém íons (116) de um metal que pode se eletrodepositar sobre o primeiro e segundo eletrodos. átomos deste metal (114) são depositados sobre o primeiro e segundo eletrodo. Um potencial elétrico negativo aplicado ao primeiro eletrodo faz com que o metal depositado seja dissolvido do segundo eletrodo na solução eletrolítica e seja eletrodepositado da solução no primeiro eletrodo, afetando deste modo a propagação de radiação eletromagnética (122) através do dispositivo. Inversamente, um potencial elétrico positivo aplicado ao primeiro eletrodo faz com que o metal depositado seja dissolvido do primeiro eletrodo e eletrodepositado da solução sobre o segundo eletrodo, deste modo aumentando a transmissividade do dispositivo.
