Um método de redução rápida, em grandes quantidades, de escória contendo óxido de cromo e semelhantes, de uma maneira simplificada e sem a necessidade de altas temperaturas. óxidos de cromo são reduzidos com pelo menos um dentre enxofre elementar e compostos de enxofre tendo uma valência menor do que 6. Para uma solução aquosa do componente de enxofre, desejavalmente, seu teor de enxofre é mais do que 0,03% em peso.
