processos para preparar um material silicioso mesoporoso, um compósito silicioso, um material inorgânico mesoporoso e um compósito inorgânico/orgânico com ordem nemática quiral, material silicioso mesoporoso, compósito silicioso quiral, material mesoporoso inorgânico com ordem nemática quiral, compósito inorgânico/orgânico, e, artigo. a presente invenção descreve uma composição e um método para produzir materiais mesoporosos de sílica com uma organização quiral. no método, um monômero inorgânico polimerizável é reagido na presença de celulose nanocristalina (nnc) para fornecer um material de sólido inorgânico com nanocristais de celulose inseridos em uma organização nemática quiral. a ncc pode ser removida para fornecer uma estrutura porosa estável que mantêm a organização quiral do molde de ncc. os novos materiais podem ser obtidos como filmes independentes iridescentes com grande área de superfície. por meio do controle das condições de reação, a cor dos filmes pode ser variada através de todo o espectro visível. estes são os primeiros materiais para combinar a mesoporosidade com ordem quiral de longo alcance, que leva às propriedades fotônicas. exemplos de possíveis aplicações dos materiais são: materiais de reforço de peso leve, materiais com baixo k dielétrico, filtros refletivos sintonizáveis, adsorventes, fases estacionárias para cromatografia de substâncias quirais ou não quirais, suportes para catalisadores (por exemplo, para transformações sintéticas assimétricas ), e como um molde para gerar outros novos materiais porosos (por exemplo, carbono poroso ou metais porosos ), preferivelmente com estruturas nemáticas quirais.
