processo para produzir um nanocompósito hidrofóbico de celulose nanocristalina e um monômero de vinila polimerizado hidrofóbico, nanocompósito hidrofóbico de celulose nanocristalina e monômero de vinila polimerizado hidrofóbico, e, composição. uma abordagem verde para o desenvolvimento de materiais nanocompósitos compreendendo celulose nanocristalina (ncc) e polímeros de vinila adequados é concebido. a abordagem trata com a copolimerização de enxerto in situ de monômeros de vinila hidrofóbicos, tais como acetato de vinila e de metacrilato de metila, sobre a superfície da ncc em um meio aquoso. o material resultante é significativamente mais hidrofóbico e termicamente estável do que a ncc de partida. o material nanocompósito pode ser suspenso em solventes apropriados, secado e moldado com outros materiais, utilizando técnicas de processamento de polímero convencionais para desenvolver ainda novos materiais com novas características. esses nanocompósitos têm amplas aplicações para uso industrial a médico.
