Abstract

"MéTODO DE CONFORMAR UMA PEçA, APARELHO DE CONFORMAçãO E PRODUTO". Um método de conformar uma peça (18) compreende: reter a peça a conformar adjacente a um molde (20), utilizando um laser (30) para aquecer pelo menos uma parte da peça a conformar a uma temperatura suficiente para induzir superplasticidade; e aplicar uma pressão de fluido à peça a conformar para que assuma a configuração do molde. Isto apresenta a vantagem de que as propriedades superplásticas do material podem ser usadas para conformar a peça exatamente com o perfil requerido, sem necessitar aquecer a totalidade da câmara de processamento à temperatura superplástica. Antes de utilizar o laser para aquecer a peça à sua temperatura superplástica, o laser pode ser usada para aquecer a totalidade da peça a uma temperatura substancialmente uniforme para efetuar o seu recozimento. De maneira similar, após utilizar o laser para conformar superplasticamente a peça, o laser e usado para aquecer a totalidade da peça a uma temperatura substancialmente uniforme para remover quaisquer tensões residuais. Isto apresenta a vantagem de que a totalidade da conformação pode ser realizada como um único método, em um único aparelho processador.
