Abstract
A solid floor converter, rotating around its longitudinal axis, is maintained in a fixed and vertical position while blowing technically pure oxygen or an oxidising gas highly rich in oxygen at the top one and/or in the bath. The blowing is continued until the bath's carbon content is 0.05%-0.15%. The converter rotates below 25 rev./min. for 1-4 min. This gives a low carbon steel whose sulphur and phosphorus content is very low. The iron content of the slag is high. Then, the steel is cast in ladles.
