<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The present invention relates to a connector with a sliding tubular pouring element intended to be introduced into a hole, provided for this purpose, of a liquid container. The main aim is to prevent the metal part of the connector from coming into contact with the liquid contained in the receptacle on which it is mounted at any point. Another desired goal is to combine, with a great mechanical and chemical resistance, a perfect seal, the advantage of a very large hole for filling the container, of a seal incorporated in the connector and irreplaceable after opening the container. container, a tubular element which can slide and allows the liquid to be poured in a regular manner, and finally a connection such that it can be easily and quickly mounted on the container.
The present invention therefore consists of a connector provided with a sliding tubular element and intended to be introduced into a hole of a liquid container, which connector is characterized by the fact that it consists of a plug made of material. plastic cup-shaped having a turned-up edge and, in the center, a hollow cylindrical part closed on the outside by a wall serving as a seal and open on the inside, at the bottom of the cup itself, and by a metal ferrule. - metal covering the inner wall of this cup with a rolled-up edge, all along this edge, the sliding glass element also being made of plastic and

urn having a frustoconical shape with, at the end of smaller diameter,
a thicker edge cooperating with a raised clamping collar inside the central hollow part of said cup. In a particularly advantageous manner, it is obtained that the liquid flows regularly, once the tubular element has been deployed, by providing the large diameter end thereof with a constriction and in drilling holes in the wall near this end. It is possible to mount, on the central hollow part of the cup, an additional plug protecting the seal and serving to close the hole, once the container has been drilled.
In what follows, a description will be given, by way of nonlimiting example, of an embodiment of the connector which is the subject of the invention, with reference to the appended drawing, in which: FIG. 1 is a view, half in section and half in elevation, of the fitting, complete with all its elements, fixed on the container; - Figure 2 is a sectional view of the same connection in the operating position for pouring the liquid.
In Figure 1, we see, on the one hand, part of the wall 1 of the container internally coated with a protective layer according to a well-known method, and, on the other hand, the folded and turned up edge 2 of the drilled hole in this container. The connection is essentially constituted by an element 3 in plastic material, in the form of a cup with turned up edge and, in the center, a hollow cylindrical part closed on the outside by a wall 4 serving as a seal, the edge 5 of which is thinned to facilitate
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
breaking the seal at the desired point. A metal ferrule 6 covering the inside of the wall is folded back around the edge of the plastic cup 3 and serves to tighten the latter strongly on the edge 2 of the filling hole of the receptacle.
The hollow central part of the cup is provided with an external thread onto which can be screwed an additional metal stopper 7 which can be provided internally with a seal.
In the hollow central part of the cup is mounted a sliding tubular pouring element of plastics material 8 of frustoconical shape which, at its small diameter end, has a thicker edge 9 which bears on a collar 10 in projection inside the hollow central part of the cup.
The large-diameter end of the tubular pouring element 8 has a constriction 11, while holes 12 are drilled in the frustoconical wall, in the vicinity of this end.
In order to mount the fitting, the metal ferrule 6 is tightened by any well-known method around the edge of the hole made in the container. The edge of the plastic cup clamped between the two metal parts forms a tight seal. The fitting is fitted with the help of the metal ferrule after filling the container, which allows the maximum possible surface area of the filling hole to be used.
The metal stopper 7 can be screwed or fixed according to any of the methods commonly used for this purpose. This cap, with its interior seal, provides a perfectly watertight seal once the seal has been removed 4.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Given its elasticity, the tubular verifier 8 can be forced into the hollow central part of the cup 3 from which it cannot then come out, given that it is held on one side by the thickened edge. 9 bearing on the collar 10, while it is retained, in the opposite direction, by its taper which gives it a larger section than that which corresponds to the collar 10.
Referring to Figure 2, it is easy to see how this connection works when the liquid is poured.
It can be seen that the tubular pouring element 8 is pulled outwards until it is tight, again thanks to its taper, against the collar 10, thus achieving a perfectly sealed junction thanks to the elasticity of the material. .
When the liquid is poured in, the constriction 11 creates, in the upper part 13 of the tubular element 8 (which, at this moment, is approximately horizontal), a free zone occupied by air which can thus penetrate into the receptacle, passing through the holes 12 in the base of the cone, and allow the liquid to flow smoothly.
As the above description clearly shows, the connector forming the subject of the present invention makes it possible to achieve perfectly all the aims which had been proposed. In fact, while there is no metal part facing the interior of the container which is not suitably protected, the connection is reinforced, on the outside of the container, by the metal ferrule which covers it. entirely, except for the hollow central cylindrical part, but this is protected by the cap also made of metal.
