<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

The present invention relates to an air-reheating firebox door, with an oil or gas burner incorporated, and intended to seal off the large-surface opening of a combustion chamber, in a sealed manner. in such a way that the body of the door, designed as a double-walled surface element, is traversed by the air flow intended for combustion, and thus on the one hand the combustion air is heated by totality and, on the other hand, the material constituting the door can in no case take the high temperatures and unacceptable for it, of the atmosphere of the combustion chamber.
The doors of fireplaces of the prior art have on their face facing the fire, either a
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
covering with ohamotte, silk a screen made of a refreshing material which returns the incident radiant heat to the fireplace.
It was also previously necessary to provide behind this radiation shield, mounted spaced apart on the body itself of the door, an appropriate protective insulating layer, to form a barrier to the flow of heat moving towards the outer face of the door. the door. As the doors of boilers or ovens were most often found in an area where service personnel circulated, these heat-insulating layers had to be thick enough so that the temperature of the exterior face of the doors did not. is not much higher than the ambient temperature.
The different types of water-cooled doors are also known, all of which require flexible pipe connections for the adduction and abduction of the refrigerant liquid and consequently require, in particular in the case of boilers heating under pressure, details of complicated construction.
Air reheaters are also known, in which the combustion air is made to pass along heating surfaces, which are themselves heated by convection from the fumes from the hearth.
The present invention therefore relates to a means for closing a hearth space, also acting as an air heater, and which is capable of sealing off a relatively large surface opening in an ethanol manner, without having to has to rely on relatively complicated structures, with ohamotte cladding or heat-insulating layer.
The essential characteristic of the invention, intended to solve this problem, consists in the fact that this door designed with a double wall, and of which the internal hollow space comprises air circulation channels, is provided.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
base a fan, or a compressed air adduction pipe, ensuring air circulation in said hollow space, so that simultaneously the air is reheated by the indirect radiation falling on the face of the door facing towards fire and the door itself is cooled.
In a preferred embodiment, the interior hollow space of the door is divided into channels by partitions. The oxidizer used for cooling the double wall is heated without increasing pressure and in an efficient manner *
According to the invention, 1. ' interior hollow space 4 The door can be removably connected to the air supply duct by a connector having the desired flexibility.
It is then unimportant that small air leaks occur at the level. the easy-to-dismantle connector The basic idea of the invention is that the air flow required by combustion, delivered by a fan to the hearth, passes in whole or in part into the interior hollow space. the door, the face of the door facing the fire being mainly heated by the direct radiation emanating from the hearth as soon as the flame is ignited and this independently of the temperature of the heating agent, that is to say smoke, and the speed of the air being chosen sufficiently high so that the quantity of heat removed by the air current from the face of the door facing outwards is ensured to be equivalent to that supplied to the material made up guardian of the door,
on the face of it facing the fire. It is then possible, even in the case of high temperature fireplaces, to use ordinary steel sheets, without having to provide a highly cool material. keep quiet, expensive. On the other hand, the air used for combustion has warmed up, so that the door plays in
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
at the same time the role of a heating surface of good efficiency and thus increases the overall efficiency of combustion in the hearth.
Smooth combustion with. Difficult-to-burn fuels, in common use in large boilers, are considerably reduced.
The use of these fuels, hitherto reserved for large industrial boilers, and which require reheating of the air on special suitable heating surfaces, can now be extended to smaller stoves, such as found in small steam generators and central heating installations, where. it was not economical until now to provide built-in heaters.
Other features of the invention will become apparent on reading the following description of several embodiments, shown schematically in the accompanying drawings, in which!
Figure 1 is a longitudinal section of a boiler with a door according to the invention cooled by air.
Figure 2 is a front view of the same door.
Figures 3 and 4 are longitudinal sections of boilers corresponding to two other embodiments.
The boiler shown in Figures 1 and 2 comprises a fireplace A surrounded on all sides by a water jacket, except in front of the door opening. The combustion gases after leaving the hearth are conducted through the smoke tubes 15 into the flue 16. A fan 1 delivers the combustion air intended for an oil burner 10 and pumps this air into a pipe 2 located under the boiler, and connecting, in front of it, to the air-cooled door B, where the air comes in
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
from bottom to top. The opening maneuver of the door B '. still possible by removing a flanged joint; a flexible connector 3 is interposed on the air oanalisation to facilitate this removal.
The air entering the lower part of the door B is divided into two partial streams 4 and 5, rises in the side channels that are part of the space between the two walls of the door, after which these two partial streams are unite in a point 'high 6, hence. the air descends in a central channel 7. As a result, the burner outlet tube 8 has its outer wall vigorously swept and effectively cooled. In this way, the combustion air heats up and is brought to the outlet point 9 of the door B to a temperature of about 100 C, before entering the combustion chamber of the oil burner 10. .
The opening pivot of the door B is in the known manner made possible by hinges 11, and its tightening against the boiler body, by wing keys 12.
In the same boiler shown in Figure 3, in the same section as that of Figure 1, the arrangement of the fan 1 differs from the previous one, in that this fan is fixed to the upper part of the door B and in that the air is delivered in a single downward current inside the door, at the outlet 9 of which it is returned by a double elbow to the burner 10,
The same boiler, with air-cooled door B, is still shown in Figure 4 according to the cross section as those of Figures 1 and 3, but the fan 1, inoorporé to the oil burner 10, sucks the air from oom - bustion through the space between the two walls of the door.
For this purpose, the outer wall of the door
B is pierced at its upper part by air inlet holes 13 through which the combustion air, due to the
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
depression created by the fan enters the space between the two walls of the door and then passes successively through the outlet 9 of the door, the fan 1 and the burner 10.
Of course, the present invention can be applied to any boiler or furnace where heating of the combustion air proves to be possible or necessary.
In particular, it is conceivable without difficulty that the combustion air, heated in a double-walled door, is blown onto the underside of a grate or is caused to react with the fuel in a hearth of such or such desired conformation. .
Double-walled door structures, other than those shown in the accompanying drawings, can also be designed if the shape of the boiler or furnace so requires. The air supply and in particular the necessary changes of direction are to be calculated in Laotian for the air speed and to be sized according to the air flow to be ensured.
