Window or door opening.
The subject of the invention is a window or door opening which is distinguished by its simplicity of construction and by the economy of material and labor.
According to the invention, the opening comprises as an essential element of rigidity several sheets of glass or glass which are assembled at a small distance from each other or from each other by a light frame. The latter comprises for each film * a groove in which the sheet engages and is held there by an adhesive mastic remaining sufficiently flexible to allow free thermal expansion of the glass and of the material of the frame.
The frame further comprises striking surfaces cooperating with those of the frame.
While throughout the highly inhabited temperate zone of the globe, the closures of the bays of the building by multiple glazing, preferably double glazing, provide suitable thermal insulation, their use has been hampered by their high price. .
This is due to the fact that, wrongly, only the fragility has been taken into account.

ity of the glass to the impact and not of the very considerable rigidity which an assembly of several panes possesses, and that an attempt has been made to confer rigidity to the opening elements exclusively by the construction of a rigid frame using complicated and bulky profiles , reinforced by tubular parts. This resulted in the need to provide a large number of different profiles, both for the sash and for the frame, which increases the costs of material and labor, as well as those of the tools.
As explained above, the present invention is based on the fact that an assembly of a multiple glazing confers in itself on the opening all the necessary rigidity and that the frame can therefore be constructed by means of very high profiles. simple, without tubular part and therefore light and compact. If desired, it is easy to provide profiles suitable for both the opening and the frame.
These profiles can be made of light metal, for example aluminum. nium or an alloy of this metal, or in synthetic material, therefore in materials which resist corrosion well.
The appended drawing shows by way of example one embodiment of the invention.
It shows a cross section of part of a sash.
According to the invention, the opening comprises two sheets of glass 1 and 2, the assembly at a small distance from each other essentially ensures the rigidity of the opening.
The assembly is done by means of a profile 3 which has grooves 4 and 5, intended to receive the sheets along their edges and to hold them there using a commercial adhesive mastic which has the property to remain flexible in order to allow the glass and the material of the profile a free thermal expansion, normally greater for the material of the profile than for the glass so that the latter is not exposed to lateral pressures that could cause breakage glass.

The profile 3 which is thin-walled, still has the elements necessary to obtain a hermetic closure, such as a wing 6 with a striking surface in which is housed a flexible seal 7, as well as elements favoring the assembly. of the frame, such as grooves 8 intended to receive the assembly brackets. It may also have grooves 9 in which part of the closing mechanism (not shown) of the opening is retained.
The frame comprises a profile 10 similar to the profile 3 in terms of its lightness and simplicity. It could consist of a profile identical to profile 3 and be fixed to the wall by a suitable intermediate profile. The profile 10 shown in the drawing already has a covering wing 11 constituting, near the seal 7 of the profile of the opening, a striking surface.
Like the profile 3, it is provided with a wing 12 with flexible seal 13, as well as grooves 8 'and 9' serving for purposes similar to those of the grooves 8 and 9.
As the rigidity of the sash is achieved by the glass sheets 1 and 2, the profiles 3 and 10 can be light and not bulky, so that they only reduce the glass surface of the sash very little.
Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment which has been described and shown by way of example, and one would not depart from its scope by making modifications thereto, in particular as regards concerns the section of the profiles of the sash or frame.
