<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

Drum for mixer & concrete.
The invention relates to a drum for a concrete mixer, preferably a tilting drum mixer with a narrowing cone-shaped opening for the entry and exit of the product to be mixed and a ring gear, placed around the drum for driving. this one in rotation.
It is known that, in concrete mixers, the tumors open on both sides can be formed by the welded assembly of several sheet metal rings, while the drums open on one side only are formed by rings and of a sheet metal bottom.
The mixing elements necessary for the intimate mixing of the concrete, and possibly the interior parts of the drum necessary for the rotary assembly thereof, were previously introduced through the narrowed opening of the finished drum in which they were fixed. The introduction as well as the replacement of the internal parts of the drum by the narrower opening of the latter and require
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
a considerable temple and labor, because the fixing points of these parts are only with difficulty accessible from the outside.
The fixing of the ring gear placed around the casing of the drum with a view to the rotation of the latter also requires a great expense, since it must be welded or bolted to the periphery of the casing.
The object of the present invention is to simplify the mixing drum and to construct it in such a way that the interior parts as well as the ring gear can easily be attached to the drum.
The solution of this problem consisted, according to the invention, in subdividing the mixing drum transversely, approximately in the middle thereof, and in assembling the two sections with the toothed ring by means of connecting members. commons allowing them to be separated again.
The transverse subdivision of the mixing drum in its middle makes it possible to introduce the mixing elements as well as the other interior elements, before the assembly of the sections of the drum, by the middle thereof, that is to say by the place of its largest diameter, in narrowed sections or in those provided with a bottom. In addition, the inner elements of the drum are always accessible by loosening the assemblies of the sections thereof and can be easily replaced in case of wear.
Since the common assembly members make it possible to assemble not only the two sections of the drum, but at the same time the ring gear, the special assembly members necessary for the latter and the drum are omitted. mixer is thus extraordinarily simple and inexpensive. In addition, the ring gear can always be replaced easily.

- Figure 18 shows the central part of the conical cap of the drum frame, plan view.
- Figure 19 shows part of the conical bonnet with clamping bolts, seen in cross section, and - Figure 20 is another embodiment of the head of the cap with clamping bolts.
Figure 1 shows a mixing drum, subdivided transversely at about its middle and consisting of two sections 1 and 2. As the drum is intended for a tilting mixer, the section 2 which forms the upper part of the drum is constructed as a funnel-shaped sheet metal casing, with narrowed inlet and outlet opening for the product to be mixed, while section 1, which constitutes the lower part of the drum, has a straight bottom 3 with a casing 4 roughly cylindrical. The bottom 3 of the drum passes to the cylindrical casing 4, by a pronounced rounding 5. A toothed ring 6 is provided to drive the drum in rotation. As can be seen clearly, in particular in FIG. 3, the lower part 1 and the upper part 2 of the drum are provided with edges 7 and 8 folded radially.
According to the invention, the two sections 1 and 2 of the drum are assembled with the toothed ring 6 bar of the common assembly members 9. To this end, the edges 7 and 8 of the drum sections are applied one on the other and below these is the ring gear 6, provided with threaded holes distributed over its periphery for the introduction of the assembly screws 9, These latter clamp the two sections of the drum with the ring gear 6, so as to be able to separate them from each other again The edge 8 of the upper part 2 of the drum is folded down in the hood towards the toothed ring 6 for which it thus provides a protective chamber * For reinforcement,
the upper part of the drum is provided with a folded edge 10 at the inlet and outlet opening.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
Both the lower part 1 and the upper part 2 of the drum are provided with their own mixing members adapted to their height. Thus, the lower part 1 of the drum has several rakes formed of two or a greater number of rods 11, spaced from each other and from the casing.
4, and which are fixed by means of spacers 12 and 13 to the inner face of the casing of the drum, The upper part 2 of the drum has on the other hand mixing fins 14, inclined at the axis of the casing and apply perpendicular to it; these fins are fixed to the casing of the drum by means of gussets 15.
To support the frame and reinforce the bottom 3 of the drum, a conical cap 16 is fixed to the lower part of the latter. The mixing drum can turn on a% or rillon 17 carried, by a pivoting Strier 18. FIG. 2 shows the details of the crapaudine. In the bottom 3 of the lower part 1 of the drum, is provided a central opening 19 intended to receive a sleeve 21 resting against the head 20 of the conical cap 16, This sleeve 21 is tightened by means of bolts 22 between the bottom 3 of the drum and the head of the conical cap. Between the sleeve 21 and the journal are installed two ball bearings 23 kept at a distance by a spacer
24.
The bush 21 and the lower ball bearing 23 are held against the bottom 3 of the drum by a ring 25, inwardly surrounding the central opening 19, which is held by the bolts.
Clamping ions 22. The mixing drum can be removed from the pivoting yoke journal 18 by loosening the bolts 22.
The journal 17 is formed by a tubular piece 27, welded in the pivoting yoke 18 in which the support pin 26 is fixed. The drum is mounted on the latter by means of the ball bearings 23. The end The lower part of the tubular part 27 is closed by a plate 28. The support shaft 26 has a continuous passage 29 with one or more transverse bores 30 intended for the lubrication of the drum frame. The passage

29 is formed at its lower end by a threaded part 31 with a ring 32. A disc 33 is provided to ensure sealing.
The ring 32 is strongly dimensioned so as to be able to suspend the mixer therefrom.
We can see in figure 3 how a pinion
34 entrafne the ring gear 6 screwed to the edges 7 and 8 of section 1 of the drum. The pinion 34 is fixed to a shaft 35 on which is wedged a control pulley 36. The shaft 35 is mounted in a bearing 37 on the frame 38 of the mixer.
Figures 4 to 6 show, in profile, in plan and in cross section, a ring gear with wavy teeth 39 pushed out of the edge 7 of the lower part 1 of the drum. On the other hand, FIGS. 7 to 9 show a ring gear pushed out of the edge 7, the teeth of which are formed of two trapezoidal sheet metal tabs 40 and 41 folded out of the edge, one beside the other. Figures 10 and 11 show the various teeth formed by two longitudinal tabs 42 and 43 pushed back.
In the embodiment of FIG. 12, the casing of the inner part of the drum has, for the formation of the toothed crown, repelled corrugated teeth 44 with which a pinion 45 in the form of a plate meshes.
In the toothed crown constructions of Figures 4 to 12, the special assembly members are completely omitted because here the crown is formed by pushing out of the edge or the casing of the lower part of the drum.
In the execution of Figure 13, the ring gear is formed by a corrugated ring 46 made of sheet metal, screwed onto the edges 7 and 8 of the sections of the drum.
Figures 14 and 15 show the construction of the mixing fins 14 for the upper part 2 of the drum, which can be assembled with the casing of the latter by means of the gussets 15. special tion of the head 20 of the conical cap 16 provided in the bottom 3 of the drum. In order to protect against wear the heads of the tightening bolts 22 holding the conical cap 16, the head 20 of the cap has inside the drum, protruding beads 47 between which are provided reinforcements 48 to receive these bolts. The holes 49 receiving the tightening bolts are located in the center of the recesses 48, which have a flat surface 50 here.
Figure 20 shows another embodiment of the device protecting the bolt heads from wear.
