<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

killed by a removable container 2 having a tip 3, constituting a flexible tube, provided at its end with a discharge orifice 4. In the lower part of this housing, delimited by a partition 5, there is a pressure mechanism comprising a roller 6, intended, when moving in one direction of a control lever 7, to crush the end piece 3 and then to roll on it in the direction of the orifice 4 in order to cause the expulsion by the latter d 'a load of product.
As shown in figs 1, 2, and 3, this roller 6 is mounted on a pin 8, the ends of which are on the path of the arms 9 of a movable fork 10 secured to a pin 11 pivoted between side flanges 12 of the partition'5 and which carries, at the end of the housing l, the control lever 7. The ends of this pin 8 also cooperate with two cams 13 fixed. on the inside face of the flanges 12 and; which have the shape of parallelograms.
In the rest position of the pressure mechanism, the fork 10 and the roller 6 are held in their upper position shown in FIG. 1 under the action of two torsion springs 14 whose branches are supported, one on the bottom of the housing 1 and the other under the axis 8. In this position, the roller 6 is slightly spaced from the tip 3 which then has its normal cross section of circular shape.
When pressure is exerted on the control lever 7, the fork 10 turns in the direction of arrow A (fig. 1) and the roller 6, guided by its axis, the ends of which pass in front of the cams 13, is brought into a position radially advanced with respect to the end piece 3 for which it crushes the latter against a stop plate 15 constituted by one of the branches of a U-shaped support 16 fixed by its base to the partition 5, then rolls on the tip. 3 crushed, as shown in FIG. 2, by causing the expulsion of a charge of product through port 4.
When releasing the control lever 7, the mechanism is returned to its initial position by the springs 14, but due to the shape of the cams 13, the ends of the pin 8 pass behind these cams and the end cap. 3 then resumes a circular section, the product flowing from the reservoir filling it again.
The movement of the fork 10 is limited by two pins 17 integral with one of the flanges 12 and the springs 14 are mounted on an ace 18 supported by side legs 19 of the plate 15.
The pressure mechanism further comprises an indicating device for indicating the degree of emptying of the tank of the apparatus. This device is constituted by a toothed toothed wheel 21 disposed on one end of an axis 22 provided at its center with a tangent screw 23 meshing with a toothed wheel 24 solid with an axis 25 pivoted in the support 16 and provided at its front end with a circular dial 26.
As shown in fig. l, the toothing of the wheel 21 is on the path of the axis 8 during the downward movement of the roller, so that the passage of this axis following the actuation of the control lever 7 causes the rotation., d 'a tooth and in the direction of arrow B of fig.l, of the wheel 21, the axis 8, in the withdrawn position, passing out of reach of the wheel 21 during its return movement.
The toothing of the wheel 21 and the screw 23 / wheel 24 transmission ratio are established so that the dial 26 performs a little less than one revolution for a number of actuations of the mechanism corresponding substantially to the complete emptying of the tank 2, the dial 26 having on its front face a graduation moving opposite a window 27 provided in the front wall of the housing 1 and which makes it possible to control the degree of filling of the reservoir at all times without it being necessary to open the shoemaker.
As shown in fig. 3 and 4, the axis 22 carrying the screw 23 is pivoted in a bracket 28 which is itself pivoted at 29 on the plate 15 of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
support 16, and a return spring 31, in the form of a spiral and the ends of which are fixed, one to the axis 25 and the other to a pin 32 integral with the support 16, tends to s' oppose the rotation of dial 26 in the direction of arrow C (freeze 3), corresponding to that of wheel 21 in the direction of arrow B in FIG. 1.
A pusher 33, passing through partition 5 and on which the reservoir 22 rests, normally maintains the caliper 28 in its position shown for which the screw 23 meshes with the wheel 24. Due to the irreversibility of transmission, the spring 31 cannot return the dial 26 to its initial position as long as the screw 23 and the wheel 24 are engaged. The torque which it exerts on the shaft 25 is however sufficient to automatically cause the disengagement of the screw 23, following a slight rotation of the caliper 28, as soon as the pressure exerted on this ceases. last by pusher 33.
The return spring 31 thus automatically ensures the return of the dial 26 to an initial position determined by the engagement of a stop 34 and a projection 35 provided on the edge of the dial, during withdrawal of the container 2 constituting the reservoir, in particular when replacing an empty container with a full one.
In a variant, the pusher 33 could be replaced by a locking member actuated by a cover 36 of the housing and arranged so that the stirrup 28 is kept in the lower position as long as this cover is closed and released. or even lifted by a spring for example, as soon as this cover is brought into the open position.
As indicated above, the container 2 constituting the reservoir is removable and can easily be removed from the housing 1 after opening the cover 36 of the latter. This container has a tubular body 37 made of plastic, polyethylene or polystyrene for example, closed at its rear end by a welded bottom 38 and provided at its front end with a molded head 39 (see FIG. 5) pierced with an orifice. central in which is threaded the tubular end piece 3 constituting the flexible tube on which the pressure mechanism acts.
This tip, of significant length compared to its diameter (more than five times the latter) and which must have sufficient elasticity to withstand repeated crushing without excessive permanent deformation, is made of natural or synthetic rubber, and present at its base (Fig. 5) a retaining flange 43 resting on the inside face of the head 39 of the container and which has a diameter sufficient for the nozzle to be mounted on said head only from the inside of the container, before filling and closing the latter.
At the end of the end piece 3 is originally provided a sealed end part 44 pierced with a blind duct 45 extending that of the end piece and of smaller diameter than the latter, the outside diameter of this part 44 being substantially smaller than that of the end piece in order to facilitate its cutting in line with the duct 45, in order to provide the required discharge orifice 4.
In the variant of the removable container 2 intended to constitute the reservoir shown in FIG. 6, the container is constituted by a flexible tube of conventional shape or by any other packaging and has a threaded neck 46 intended to receive a stopper, and the rubber tip 3 is detachably attached to said neck by means of a connector 47, made of plastic for example, this connector having a peripheral flange 48 intended to come to bear on the pusher 33 when the container is placed in the housing 1.
In a variant of this container, it is also possible to provide means allowing the definitive or momentary fixing of the flexible nozzle in the device, by means of fixing means connecting the connector 47 to the partition 5 for example, only the tube screwed into the connector 47 being, in this case, replaced when the device is charged.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
For the distribution of pasty or high viscosity products, it may be advisable to give the body of the container constituting the reservoir a wall thickness sufficiently reduced so that it collapses under the effect of atmospheric pressure as and when of its emptying. This result is easier to obtain if the body of the container has the conventional shape of flexible tubes indicated in dotted lines, at 49, in FIG. 1.
It should be noted that, in the apparatus shown, the product is not in contact with any metal part 'and that the only part subject to appreciable wear and possibly to a wise clogging, namely the nozzle 3 constituting the tube. flexible on which the pressure device acts, is automatically replaced when the charge is renewed by replacing the receptacle 2 constituting the reservoir.
In addition, the plastic container used as a reservoir constitutes an inexpensive packaging which is very suitable for most of the liquid or pasty products which come into play and which can also be used advantageously outside the appliance, in particular if it is intended. a removable plug at the end of its end, or a screw thread on its head, intended, after cutting 3 / end, to receive a closing cap.
