<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

TRIM WITH STATIC ANTI-BALLOON DEVICE.
The invention relates to a novel device for equipping fairleads with a view to preventing the formation of the traditional balloon in the section of wire separating the feeder from the spool.
This device offers the advantage of being entirely static and extremely simple. Substantially, it consists of a tube with a diameter slightly greater than the coil and the length of which is approximately equal to that of said coil.
This tubular element is fixed and overcomes the conical cap forming one element for driving the eyelet or ros. This fixed tubular element is closed at its upper end by a cover comprising two diametrically opposed orifices. The wire coming from the feeder passes through one of these holes. runs along the inner wall of the tube as well as the inner wall of the drive cap, passes through the rosette and attaches to the spool. Initially, the coil mounted on the spindle is, over a large part of its height, introduced into said tubular element. The spinning therefore begins at the lower part of the spool and the latter gradually drops out of the way of said tubular element forming the static anti-balloon device.
It is therefore obtained that the spool is gradually released from the anti-balloon device as the spinning progresses, under such conditions that, when the spinning is finished, said spool is completely free, thus being able to be easily removed and replaced by a new coil.
All the other means and members of the known fairleads, both for causing the various rotational and translational movements and for producing the delays specific to the twisting can be maintained.
The tubular element can obviously be packaged in any suitable manner depending on the kind of fairlead, the nature and characteristics of the materials to be spun.
By way of example, one embodiment is described below with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 also represent diagrammatically as
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
possible the device of the invention in three characteristic positions; FIGS. 4 and 5 represent in two characteristic positions a particular application of the device of the invention.
As the drive, spinning and twisting mechanisms proper are common to those of known fairleads, the static ball control device is therefore simply. consisting of a guide, for example a static tube 1, the upper end of which has a bottom 2 comprising at least one orifice 3. This tube 1 is extended below by the cap 4 to which the eyelet or rosette is attached 5. Said hat 4 is capable of being driven in rotation, at an adjustable speed, by means known in traditional f Hoirs and shown schematically in this case by the pulley 6 and the belt 1.
The spindle 8 is disposed in the axis of said tube is integral with the bench 2, driven by an up and down movement and is capable of being driven in rotation by a device also well known and shown schematically in this case by pulley 10 and belt 11.
Initially, as shown schematically in Figure 1, the coil 12 mounted on the pin 8 is, for the most part, introduced into the tube 1.
The wire F coming from the feeder passes through one of the orifices 2. along the internal wall of the tube 1 and of the cap 4. passes through the eyelet 5 and is attached to the lower part of the tube. said coil 12.
This is driven in rotation by the spindle, while being driven by an up and down movement by gradually disengaging from the tube 1. During this time, the cap 4 is itself driven by a rotational movement so as to produce, by speed difference with that of the spool, the desired twisting. It will be noted, as shown diagrammatically in FIG. 2, that the spinning, respectively the twisting, are carried out on the spool from the bottom up so that as it loads the spool is released from the tube 1 forming the anti-static balloon device.
Finally, as shown schematically in Figure 3, when the operation is fully completed, the coil is released from the anti-balloon device and can thus be easily removed and replaced by a new coil o
It will also be noted that, by this extremely simple means, the section of wire and the feeder (not shown) the spool is positively guided by said tube 1, thus preventing the formation of the balloon with all the drawbacks involved. relate.
The same elements are found in the practical application shown schematically in Figures 4 and 5. In this application, we find the tube 1 forming the anti-static balloon device. This tube is superiorly closed by the windshield 2 comprising two diametrically opposed orifices 3. Below, the cap 4 is made integral with a conical pulley 6, driven by another conical pulley 13 with the intervention of the belt 7. The conical pulley 13 is wedged on the motor shaft 14.
On this is also wedged a drive pulley 15 which, through the belt 11, drives the pulley 10. This is capable of driving the spindle 8.
The spindle and its drive device are made integral with the bench 2. capable of being driven by an up and down movement along said motor axis 14 via a longitudinal groove. 16. The wire F passes through one of the holes 2 of the windshield 2. along the internal wall of the tube 1 and of the cap 4, passes through the eyelet 5. and is attached to the foot of the spool 12. Under these conditions, at the start, the spindle is located as indicated in FIG. 4 and the spinning, respectively the twisting, is carried out from bottom to top on said spool 12. The twisting is regulated by the position of the belt 2.on the conical pulley 6-13. When the operation is fully completed, as shown in Figure 5, the full reel is released.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
It is unnecessary to describe the drive mechanisms, these can be chosen from all those already used at present in the technique of threading, respectively twisting.
The tube 1 could be made of any suitable material, opaque or transparent. In principle, it can have any cross section, but it will generally be cylindrical. This tube can be completely fixed or be driven in rotation with the cap 4.
To easily release the spool, it can be tilted around the horizontal axis 17 as shown in phantom in FIG. 5.
