<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
REVENDICATIONS.

CONTAINER WITH A DISTRIBUTOR ELEMENT AT LEAST PARTLY RETRACTABLE, NOTAM-
MENT RESERVOIR WITH BRUSH.
The invention relates to a container in the casing of which is trapped a distributor element which, by an axial movement through the neck of the casing, can be brought at will into one or the other of two positions: - one for which, ready to serve, it protrudes from the neck, - another for which it is at least partially retracted inside the container, the neck of which is then kept closed by a removable closure element.
In known containers of this type, the movements of the dispenser element are imperfectly controlled and the tightness of the reservoir, when the retractable dispenser element is in the active position, is in no way ensured.
The object of the invention is above all to remedy these drawbacks.
The container established in accordance with the invention comprises: - on the one hand, between its casing and the dispensing element, members capable of coacting to ensure the tight locking of said element against the neck of the container on which it then protrudes binds in its active position, - and on the other hand, between the removable shutter element and the distributor element separable connection parts, capable of reciprocally ooacting to make the two said elements temporarily integral with each other which allows the user, by maneuvering the shutter element, to bring the dispensing element either into its active blocked position or into its retracted position.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The appended drawings show, especially by way of indication, several preferred embodiments of the container according to the invention which in the cases shown, is supposed to constitute a reservoir intended in particular to contain nail varnish. and comprising a brush as a dispensing element
Figure 1 is an axial sectional view of the first embodiment, the container being in the closed state and the brush being scaled.
FIG. 2 is a similar view of the same container, in the open state, the brush being in the position of use.
Figures 3 and 4 are corresponding views of the second embodiment, and
Figures 5 and 6 are corresponding views of a variant of this second embodiment,
The receptacle comprises, trapped in its casing 1, preferably made of plastic material and provided with a neck 2, an element for distributing its contents, this element being, in the case represented by the drawings constituted by a brush 3 A shutter element 4 ensures the sealed closure of the container during periods of non-use.
According to the invention, the brush 3 and the shutter 4 comprise separable connecting parts, capable of coacting and which, when brought into reciprocal engagement, allow the user to bring the brush 3 by maneuvering it through the shutter element 4, at will; - either in a retracted position in the container for which it remains connected to the closure element 4 (figures 1, 3, 5) = - or in an active position of use, for which it is blocked in the neck 2 of the container by projecting therefrom, the closure element then being separated from the container (Figures 2, 4, 6).
According to the first embodiment, shown in Figures 1 and 2. the neck 2 is threaded so as to be able to coact, either with a thread that the brush 3 has, or with a thread provided on the shutter element 4. In Figure 2, the brush 3 is screwed into the neck 2 and a head 5 formed below its thread bears against the casing 1, around the orifice of the neck 2, so that this brush 3 is firmly locked in the neck 2 to which it is connected in a sealed manner.
The brush 3 comprises a substantially cylindrical rod 6 which, in the position shown in FIG. 2, projects out of the casing 1, through the neck 2.
This cylindrical rod has two lateral projections 7, only one of which is visible in FIG. 2 and which are diametrically opposed.
It is tubular and ends with the bristles 8 of the brush at the base of which a duct formed inside the rod 6 opens out through three grooves, not shown, made in the thickness of the end of this rod 6. and regularly spaced therein.
The container shown is closed at its end opposite the neck 2 by a hollow stopper 9 which contains a sleeve 10, made of elastic material. This sleeve forms part of the internal wall of the container and the stopper 9 has means for compressing the sleeve 10 for expelling the liquid contained in the receptacle through the rod 6 in the bristles 8 of the brush 3. These means are constituted by a button 11, having at one of its ends a head 12 which retains it between the stopper 9 and the bush 10 and protruding, with its other end, through a lateral orifice made in said stopper 9.
The socket 10 has an edge which is clamped between the end
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
upper tee of the stopper 9 and a surface formed inside the casing 1, which is screwed onto the stopper 90 A seal 13 is interposed between the edge of the envelope 1 and a surface of the stopper 9 .
The shutter element 4 comprises a head 14. made of plastic. for example, and knurled at its lower edge. This head is molded around a cylindrical and tubular part 15, for example made of metal, which has an annular rim coming flush with the plastic material, inside and at the bottom of the head 14 and close to said head. rim a thread shaped so as to be able to cooperate with the tapping of the neck 2. The lower part of said tubular part 15 has two notches 16 diametrically opposed and intended to receive the lateral projections 7 of the cylindrical rod of the brush .
This tubular part is split along one of its generatrices, so as to be able to elastically grip the rod 6 of the brush and it has two diametrically opposed holes 17 allowing liquid to circulate between the space between the rod 6 and the tubular part 15 and the rest of the container. to impregnate the bristles 8 of the brush.
The tubular part 15 of the obturator element comprising the notches 16 and the rod 6 of the brush provided with side projections 7 constitute the separable connection parts specified above. It is possible, after having coupled the shutter element and the brush to each other by means of their cooperating parts 6 and 15, unscrew the brush and make it enter the receptacle by keeping it in its retracted position. by the tubular part 15 which encloses the rod 6. then screw the obturator element onto the neck 2 and thus close the receptacle, as shown in FIG. 1.
Conversely, from this position of the brush and of the obturator element, it is possible to unscrew the obturator element, bring the brush into the active position of use and block it in this position, then separate one of the other, the brush and the obturator element. The container is then ready to apply a layer of nail varnish to the user's nails by means of the bristles 8 of the brush, the latter being oriented downwards for this operation.
In the event that the varnish does not flow in sufficient quantity, the button 11 is pressed, thus compressing the sleeve 10 and driving the nail varnish into the bristles 8 through the tubular rod 6 of the brush. Since the clearance provided between the tubular part 15 and the neck 2 is chosen so small, the varnish is prevented from escaping freely through this neck while the brush 3 is being moved, or to connect it to the neck, or to close the container by means of the closure element.
A cap 18 is screwed onto the stopper 9. This cap constitutes, together with the stopper 9 and the casing 1, a convenient handle for the brush. In addition, it can be used as a reservoir for a liquid, for example for a solvent contained in cotton wool pads and for removing nail polish. This cap 18 has a knurled and internally threaded edge which is screwed onto a thread of the end of the cap 9 opposite the casing 1, a seal 13 also being interposed between the edge of the cap 18 and a shoulder of the cap 9. .
According to a variant not shown, the projections 7 of the rod 6 of the brush could be circular in shape and cooperate with elbow notches made in the tubular part 15 of the shutter element, so as to constitute a bayonet coupling capable of connect the shutter element to the brush.
According to yet another variant not shown, the parts 7 and 15 comprise, instead of said projections and notches, threads and internal threads making it possible to couple them by screwing the tubular part 15 onto the rod 6.
The second embodiment shown in two variants by Figures 3, 4 and 5.6 respectively, differs from the previous one by the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
that the guide means provided between the inner wall of 1 casing 1 and the head 5 of the brush 3. keep the latter both centered in the neck 2 and within reach of connection with the shutter element 4. This guide, which is advantageously obtained, as shown in the drawing, by a reciprocal engagement of coaxial threads' having a diameter greater than that of the neck 2, preventing the brush
3, inadvertently separating from the shutter element 4 falls to the bottom of the casing 1 out of range of connection with the shutter element.
According to the embodiment shown in Figures 3 and 4. 1 'shutter element 4 cooperates with an external thread of the casing 1 of the container The threaded head 5 of the brush has a shoulder intended to come to bear against a seal 20, arranged at the bottom of the thread in the casing 1, around the orifice of the neck 2. The rod 6 of the clamp 3 is present. at its end adjacent to the bristles 8, two flats 7 'intended to engage with two tongues 15' of complementary section integral with the shutter element 4. - @
The shutter element 4 has an axial blind hole 21 intended to receive the bristles of the brush.
This hole 21 is extended between the tabs 15 'capable of receiving the end of the rod
6 of the brush 3 having the flats 7 ', the whole so as to ensure a rotational coupling of the shutter element 4 to the brush 3. A seal
19 is housed at the bottom of the thread of the obturator element, around the tabs 15 '. and is intended to cooperate with the end face of the neck 2.
It can be seen that when the shutter element 4 is unscrewed from the position shown in FIG. 3, the brush 3 is rotated so as to bring it into the position shown in FIG. 4. It is understood that when 'the closure element 4 is unscrewed. the brush 3 cannot be dropped to the bottom of the container. because this brush is always engaged by its threaded head 5 with the thread in the casing
1 of the container. Grooves 22 are formed parallel to the axis of the container, in the head 5 of the brush (they could of course also be in the inner wall of the casing 1), in order to form a duct bypass allowing the liquid contained in the receptacle to circulate freely between the main interior space 23 of the receptacle and an annular space 24 located therein.
in the closed position, between the seal 20 and the head 5 of the brush 3.
A slight clearance is left between the inner edge of the seal 20 and the cylindrical rod 6 of the brush 3, so that, when unscrewing the shutter element, liquid contained in its hole 21 can pass through this clearance into the annular space 24 and thence into the main space 23 of the container. When the shutter element 4 is in the closed position, the head 5 of the brush partially separates the annular space 24 from the main space 23. Despite the presence of the grooves 22, liquid could be discharged through the head. 5.between the edges of the neck
2 and the cylindrical rod 6 of the brush when unscrewing the closure element and thus moving the brush 3 outwards.
In order to eliminate this drawback, or in any case to reduce it to a minimum, the annular space 24 has a volume which is at most equal to 1% of the total volume of the interior space of the container.
The variant shown in Figures 5 and 6 differs from that shown in Figures 3 and 4 in that the shutter element
4 comprises a threaded tubular part 15 which cooperates with an internal thread in the neck 2 and which replaces the internal threading of the closure element shown in FIGS. 3 and 4. The lower end of the tubular part 15 is notched so as to be able to receive the end of the cylindrical part 6 of the movable element 3 which has the flats 7 '.
It is obvious that the described container could have any different shape and instead of containing nail polish, it could, for example, contain a reserve of oil or gasoline for a
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
motor vehicle The receptacle can also be a perfume bottle, an oil or drawing ink burette, or a bottle. a can or a tube for spirits, acids, colors, etc.
In these cases, the dispensing element, instead of being a brush, can be a pouring spout, a dropper, etc. The container could be made of metal or at least partially of glass, or else of n ' does it matter plastic.
The invention is therefore not limited to the two embodiments described, but on the contrary embraces all the embodiments and all the variants of the specified container.
