<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

INTERCHANGEABLE ACTUATION OR ADJUSTMENT DEVICE.
The object of the invention is to give an actuating or adjusting device for stopping or adjusting members, a form such that, after loosening a rapid closure, it can be pulled out as a whole in a minimum of time. , outside the enclosure or casing and be replaced by another, without resulting in a prolonged interruption of service and without the need to demonstrate the enclosure itself from the place where it is mounted in an assembly , for example in a series of pipes.
It is known, in shut-off members, for example in so-called head-piece valves or valves, to group together the essential constituent parts so as to make a block that can be unscrewed as a whole to get out of it. the envelope. In such shut-off members, however, the valve seat remains in the casing, and is therefore not replaced at the same time, although precisely the valve seat is particularly the cause of disturbances. In these known embodiments, it is not possible to avoid the dismantling of the entire casing and therefore it is not possible to prevent a sufficiently long interruption in service, when, as a result of wear, the valve seat is not sealed. more impeccably.
On the contrary, the object of the invention provides that when disassembling the actuator, the valve seat is also extracted.
It is also known to mount such actuating or adjusting devices in a casing as a closed assembly, using metallic sealing surfaces between the casing and the body of the interchangeable device and to lock them by means of a rapid closure, for example a bayonet closure o The metal sealing surfaces are then shaped into a polished cone which, through its outer part, closes tightly against pressure inwards,
1 place of assembly and by its interior part applies the device in a sealed manner against a partition wall inside the casing. Such a double sealed metal closure with two separately functioning sealing regions does not
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
can however be made that heavy and incurs high expense if it is to be sufficiently well constructed to perform its sealing function satisfactorily. But above all, there is still the danger that the polished, fragile metal sealing surfaces of the casing will be damaged.
Then in fact the entire envelope becomes unusable and must be replaced. Moreover, the conical sealing surfaces can easily deform with large temperature changes (steaming). Leaks and possible "sagging" of the sealing surfaces are the consequence. The object of the invention avoids this serious drawback by the fact that the envelope itself no longer has delicate sealing surfaces which are subject to wear. The non-metallic or soft metal sealing elements which, according to the invention, are linked to the interchangeable device, and which constitute a delicate element of the device, are extracted during the change.
This applies in the first place to gaskets which must achieve a pressure-tight closure of the casing to the outside, but also to those which must separate in a watertight manner, on partition walls inside the enclosure. 'envelope, spaces subjected to different pressures, for example-at the location of the partition walls which support the valve seat in the shut-off valves. Several such partition walls in an enclosure are to be considered, for example, for a double seat or alternating clearance valve.
Said gaskets should preferably be manufactured according to the type of cable gland gaskets in an elastically or plastically deformable material, able to exert inwardly and outwardly a radial sealing pressure on the cylindrical walls while they are subjected. axial pressure.
According to the invention, the actuating device grouped into a constructive unit need not be limited only to adjusting elements such as an actuating rod valve cone and the like, but it can also include members serving to produce operation. In hand-operated devices, this applies, for example, to handwheels and operating levers. In automatically actuated adjustment members, it is possible, according to the invention, also to incorporate the device sensitive to pulses, for example the member sensitive to pressure, respectively to temperature, in for example pressure regulating devices acting according to pressure or temperature.
A particular field of application of the invention is found in the condensate water separators of the traps which represent such control members for the automatic elimination of the condensation water. The application is preferably made to condensate eliminators with rigid flow members (for example with nozzles, labyrinths or the like) but is also designed for condensate eliminators in which the section of flow is controlled by hand or automatically, for example in dependence on a temperature sensitive organ.
FIG. 1 represents an example of the object of the invention, applied to a simple stopcock. The actuator essentially comprises the valve cone (2), the rod or pin (3) with the threads (31) and the handwheel (4) which are to be housed together interchangeably in the casing (1). For this purpose, the casing (1) is provided with a cylindrical bore to receive the actuator. The hollow cylinder (18) permanently connected to the stuffing box (6) carries the valve seat (7) at the bottom and is equipped above it with openings (8) for the passage of the valve. 'operations officer. Above is the thread (31) and finally, to seal around the rod (3), a gland packing (29) pressed by the gland screw (5).
Between the hollow cylinder (18) and the cylindrical wall of the casing bore is mounted the stuffing box packing (9) which ensures the watertight closure towards the outside and, towards the inside, applying from sealed to the partition (17), the stuffing box packing (12).
In-
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The lantern (10) is located between the two gland packings, which, like the hollow cylinder (the '), has openings (11) for the passage of the operating agent o Below the press packing -tuff (12) is arranged a plate (13) which, for example by the clamping ring (14), is connected to the hollow cylinder (18) in such a way that when withdrawing the hollow cylinder (18) from the casing it drives the extraction of the two gland packing (9) and (12) together with the lantern (10).
The stuffing box (6) is pressed by the quick release, for example by the folding screws (15), in cooperation with the nuts (16), against the stuffing box packing (9), the force application being transmitted, via the lantern (10), to the stuffing box packing (12), while a downward pressure is created by the recesses of the casing ( 25) against which the plate (13) rests 0
After loosening the nuts (16) the folding screws (15) can be folded back to the sides. Then the entire actuator can be pulled out of the casing as a single block. To carry out the extraction, you can act on the stuffing box (6) as well as on the flywheel (4).
If in the enclosure it is necessary to ensure the right tightness of several partition walls, for example in the case of double seat or alternating valves, an additional gland packing is required for each partition wall, and an additional lantern (not shown in the drawing) o
For the gland packing (9 and 12) it is possible to apply parts of a single type, choose packing rings of equal diameter. But it is preferable to provide for the inner stuffing box packing (12), packing rings of smaller diameter than for the outer stuffing box packing (9). This ensures that no obstacle to the extraction is encountered when, for example, a deposit of encrustation has occurred on the lantern (10) or other parts of the actuating device. .
It is also easier to avoid damage to the inner gland packing (12) during extraction. Such an embodiment, in which the lantern (10) also has a diameter at its upper end. higher than that of the lower end, and where the hollow cylinder (18) has corresponding steps, is shown in figure 20
FIG. 3 shows an alternative embodiment in which the insertion of a lantern between two gland packings (9 and 12) is superfluous.
The transmission of the application force of the stuffing box (6) which is carried out here separately from the hollow cylinder (18) and which can receive an axial movement with respect to the latter, is effected by clamping rings and / or resilient end caps with protruding or re-entering recesses which are arranged on the hollow cylinder (18) and / or on the stuffing box (6). In the example shown, below the gland packing (9) there is a plate (35) which through the elastic ring (21) transmits the force to the hollow cylinder (18).
The offset (20) in turn transfers the force of the hollow cylinder (18) to the gland packing (12), via the plate (36). In order for the internal parts to be driven when extracting the stuffing box (6), the hollow cylinder (18) has a collar (19) which has a diameter greater than that of the bore in the packing ring. cable gland (6) 0
FIG. 4 represents an embodiment in which there is no particular gland packing (29) for the production of the seal around the rod (3), because here the gland packing (9) )
ensures both the seal against the wall of the casing and the seal around the rod
Fig. 5 shows the application of the inventive thought to a device for removing condensation water with a multi-stage nozzle, known per se. Instead of the valve cone (2) we have here the nozzle needle or needle (23). The hollow cylinder (18) contains, instead of the seat of
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
valve (7), the nozzle rings (24). In this example, the adjustable nozzle (23) is only accessible from the outside after loosening the locking screw (27) which cooperates with the sealing plate (28) to ensure the leaktight closure, in service, of the the adjustment opening.
In the same figure it has been shown that for the internal sealing to the right of the partition wall (17), it is possible to use, instead of a gland packing (12), a simple sealing plate (12 ) of suitable non-metallic material, or also of soft metal. As such a plate cannot seal the lateral surface of the cylinder, but only the front faces, it is placed without interposing a metal plate (13) against the projections (25) of the bore of the casing. . Between the sealing plate (12) and the elastic ring (14) is also advantageously placed a plate (13), the outer diameter of which is however smaller than the diameter of free passage inside the projections (25) of the bore of the casing.
Figure 6 shows a condensate eliminator with a multistage nozzle (23) which is actuated by a rod or pin (3). The tight closure around this rod is effected by a special gland (29). A particular idea of the invention provides that the rapid closure, in the example shown the gland bezel (6) tightened by the hinged screws (15), contrary to what happens in figure 3, tighten both the rod gland (29) and the casing closing glands (9 and (12). , on the outside other gaskets can, according to the invention be tightened by the application pressure of the same quick closing, for example a built-in valve seat, or else as in the example shown , the three nozzle rings (24)
incorporated in one piece for reasons of manufacture and interchangeability which are in the hollow cylinder (18) and which must ensure the sealing on their end faces, so that the operating agent cannot find a way around the nozzle rings. The application force is transferred from the stuffing box (6) through the packing (29), the threaded sleeve (19) and the nozzle rings (24) to the hollow cylinder (18), from the latter. ci on the outer stuffing box packing (9) and through the lantern (10) finally on the inner stuffing box packing (12).
So that when tightening the cable gland (6) all the interchangeable block is extracted together, to the gland (6) are adapted noses (43), which penetrate under noses (44) connected to remain in the interchangeable unit, preferably in the hollow cylinder (18). The noses (43 and 44) are made in the manner of a bayonet closure, that is to say that they are released when the gland bezel (6) is turned by 90 or when it is withdraws laterally.
In this way we can realize the overall construction.
In the event that the interchangeable unit gets stuck in the casing or case as a result of encrustation or similar causes, and where there is noticeable resistance to its extraction, at the lower part of the pin (3) or of the nozzle rod (23) it is possible to adapt an extension (42) which in the lowest operating position butts against the bottom of the housing o After loosening the rapid closure it is possible, by further rotating the rod (3) in the direction screwing, using the threads (31) to force the entire interchangeable assembly to be pushed out. The threaded sleeve (19) is equipped with a safety device which prevents it from rotating, not shown.
For the forced removal of the interchangeable unit, by means of the force of the screw, it is possible, under the stuffing box (6), to show on the folding screws (15) support locknuts. Likewise, it is possible for example in an embodiment according to FIG. 5 to produce the extraction by unscrewing the gland nut (26) which is then pressed against the elastic ring 300
Finally, FIG. 7 shows how a complete adjustment device is composed, including a device sensitive to pulses, grouped according to the invention in an interchangeable block. As an example, we have represented
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
a condensed water eliminator with stepped nozzles (23) which is controlled as a function of the temperature, via the rod (3), by bimetal strips (32).
The position of the bimetal strips when they have performed their temperature-controlled stroke has been shown in phantom lines. Instead of a control according to the temperature, it is also possible to have a control according to the pressure without more.
In this case we would have used, instead of bimetallic lamellae (32), an elastic membrane and charged by the pressure.
In general, the impulse-sensitive member of the temperature or pressure-dependent adjustment device is, for construction reasons, provided with a cover (33) which closes at the top, forming a cover for the press bezel. packing (6) widened into a bowl and which forms with the latter a pressure-tight capsule o Another idea of the invention provides that the cover (33) is pressed in a sealed manner by the same folding screws (15) and the nuts (16) against the stuffing box (6), which screws also tighten the stuffing box packings (9 and 12) o After loosening the nuts (16) and tilting outwards folding screws (15)
it is equally possible to remove the cover (32) as well as to remove the entire adjustment device from the casing Of course the cover (33) can also by screws not shown, be connected in a sealed manner to the stuffing box (6) so that the cover (33) remains permanently connected to it during the extraction of the interchangeable block.
Another thought of the invention provides that the interchangeable device is also equipped with a sieve which can be extracted during disassembly and thus be quickly cleaned. Figure 7 shows such a sieve (34), which concentrically surrounds the hollow cylinder (18) and which is interposed between the linings (9 and 12) o The sieve is passed through from the outside to the inside, before the operating agent reaches the organ of 'flow, - in the example of figure 7 this is the multi-stage nozzle with the needle (23) o
In use as a temperature controlled condensate eliminator, or as a temperature dependent regulator of another kind, it may be necessary for the operating agent to actually pass through the capsule as well,
containing the heat-sensitive member, formed by the enlarged gland bezel (6) and the cover (33), so does not already flow into the casing (1) directly from the inlet sleeve to the flow member o To ensure this, it is provided, according to an idea of the invention, that the operating agent is conducted through a special channel in the example shown the annular channel (37) - in the capsule formed via the cable gland (6) and the cover (33).
From this capsule, it flows through the interior space, through a tubular extension (38) of the hollow cylinder (18). further towards the flow member, - in the example shown towards the multistage nozzle formed by the needle (23) and the nozzle ring (24). The channel (37) is formed for example by the annular space between the tubular extension (38) and a sleeve of the sleeve (39) which by its outer edge applies to the inner diameter of the stuffing box packing (9) o The gap between the tubular extension (38) and the sleeve (39) is advantageously held by ribs (40).
The ribs (40) can carry the elastic ring (30) which holds the interchangeable unit together and prevents the removal of the gland bezel without entrainment of the interior parts. If necessary, the tubular extension (38) can still be provided with a neck-shaped enlargement (41) which partially surrounds the heat-sensitive organ, so that the operating agent is forced to sweep the heat-sensitive organ as completely as possible after have passed the colo The flow of the operating agent is indicated by arrows in figure 70
Finally, according to the invention, provision has been made for different actuating and adjusting devices to have the same mounting measures for mounting in the casing (1).
In the same enclosure, you can then mount at will a shut-off valve a condensate water eliminator

without automatically moving parts or one of these devices with automatically moving parts. Such unification of the envelopes considerably simplifies the manufacture and placing in the store. But in practical operation also this concordance can have advantages o When, for example, it is necessary to dismantle an adjustment device for repairs, it is then possible to temporarily put a stop device in the unmodified enclosure as a backup. that we have in store ..
On the other hand, it is also possible to replace a condensate water eliminator without moving parts by such a device comprising moving parts or vice versa, in the simplest way, when such a change is advantageous due to modifications in the conditions. operating circumstances.
As in the application of the device according to the invention all the delicate parts can be changed, hardly ever wear of the casing occurs. Provided that, according to the invention, the casing is made of weldable cast iron or of steel, it can be incorporated by welding into the pipes, since a change of the casing will never be necessary.
