Ball valve Ball valves placed on industrial pipelines conveying abrasive or corrosive pulps or liquids quickly wear out in their contact surfaces with these pulps or liquids and easily lose their seal.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks.
It relates to a plug valve whose plug, of generally conical shape, is pierced with a conduit and capable of rotating in a body of corresponding shape, presenting tubes in front of which the ori fices of the conduit of the plug are able to fit. place in the open position, valve characterized in that it comprises means for moving the plug axially in the body to release the plug from the body before rotating this plug in this body and thus avoid any friction hard forcing an exaggerated effort and generating wear.
One of the valve elements, plug or body, may have an elastic contact surface, which makes it possible, by relative axial displacement of the plug and the body, to deform this surface and to achieve complete sealing of the valve.
The relative movements in rotation and along the axis common to the plug and the body of the valve can be controlled by a single axial control rod integral with the plug and passing through the body of the valve.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the valve forming the subject of the invention.
Figures 1 and 2 are schematic axial sections of the valve in its closed and open positions.
Figs. 3 and 4 are cross-sectional views of the valve in its closed and open positions.
Fig. 5 is an axial sectional view of an eccentric locking valve.
Figs. 6, 7 and 8 are sectional views perpendicular to the axis of the control, not through this axis, and in plan, of the eccentric locking control.
Fig. 9 is a plan view of the backing plate.
Fig. 10 is an elevational view of the centric.
Figs. 11, 12 and 13 are elevation views of three forms of assembly of the previous valve.
The valve shown schematically in FIGS. 1 to 4 comprises a valve 1, of frustoconical shape, capable of rotating in a valve body 2 of corresponding shape.
The plug 1 is pierced with a curved channel 3 opening out, on the one hand, in the axis of the large base of the truncated cone of this plug and, on the other hand, laterally in the conical wall of this plug. The plug 1 is solid. On the side of its small base with an axial control rod 4 passing through the body 2 of the valve. This rod provides both the rotational movement and the axial displacement.
The body 2 has two tubes, one axial, 9, opening out opposite the axial opening of the curved duct 3, the other lateral 6 opening into the conical wall of this body. The lateral orifice of this curved duct 3 can be placed opposite the orifice of this lateral tubing 6, by rotation of the plug 1 in the body 2.
The plug 1 has an elastic surface, for example a rubber coating, which is applied in a sealed manner in the body 1 of the valve.
The bushel can also be rigid and rotate in a body with an elastic inner surface. Finally, the body and the plug may present an elastic surface.
A. first embodiment of the robi net is shown in axial section in FIG. 5. The body 2 has the shape of a rigid truncated cone with a curved lateral tubing 6 with flange 7 and it opens freely by its large base, to be fixed by means of a flange 8 to a curved tubing 9.
The plug has a rigid frustoconical frame 10 covered internally and externally with an elastic coating 11, for example of rubber. This coating comprises, on the side of the large base, a cylindrical lip 17 engaged in a recess 18 of the elbow tubing 8 of the body of -robi net. On the side of its small base, it has a cylindrical lip of significant thickness engaged in a corresponding bearing surface 20 of the valve body.
The pressure of the liquid circulating in the valve applies the lower cylindrical lip 17 against the recess 18, which contributes to ensuring the tightness of the seal between the body 2 and the tubing 9.
The cylindrical upper lip 19, of notable thickness, is applied, due to its rigidity, against the corresponding bearing surface 20 of the body 2, which contributes to sealing by reducing the fluid pressure to which the press is subjected. -tuff 14.
The valve has a locking control shown in FIGS. 6 to 8. This control comprises a plate 24 fixed in an adjustable manner above the body 2 by threaded rods 25 and locking nuts 26. The plate 24 is axially crossed by the control rod 13 for which it forms a guide. . At the upper part of this rod are formed two parallel flats 27 and a transverse hole 28 perpendicular to these flats. On the upper part of the control rod 13 is engaged a flattened ring 29 resting on the plate.
An axis 30 is engaged in the transverse hole 28 of the control rod 13. On the axis 30, and on either side of this control rod, are engaged two eccentrics 31 bearing on one side. against the flats 27 of the control rod and engaged on the outside in eccentric housings 32 formed in the branches 331, 332 of a yoke 33. A control bar 34 is screwed into the yoke 33.
This faucet works the way. Next By raising the control bar to its position perpendicular to the control rod 13, the eccentrics 31 turn in contact with the support ring 29 and produce the displacement of the control rod 13 in the direction of the arrow f1. The valve thus moves in the body -2 in the same direction, the lips 17, 19 of this valve sliding against the corresponding bearing surfaces 18, 20 of the valve body. This bushel is thus detached from the body 2.
The bar 34 is then rotated, which, via the yoke 33 and the axis 30, rotates the control rod 13 and the plug 1 which are thus placed in a suitable position. The control bar 34 is then folded down, which produces the rotation of the eccentrics 31 and the elevation of the axis 30. The control rod 13 is thus pulled in the opposite direction to f1, which applies tightly the coating 11 of the plug against the wall of the body 2 and provides the seal.
The seal around the control rod 13 is achieved by means of a stuffing box 35 with an inner cap 36 controlled by bolts 37.
The valve described above is shown in elevation in FIG. 11.
The curved lower tubing 9 can be oriented on the same side as the lateral tubing 6 (fig. 12) or replaced by a recti line spool 38 (fig. 13).
Valves of the type described above present numerous technical advantages, in particular the following: The operation of the valve comprises a first axial displacement of the conical section plug 1 in the body 2, which moves this valve away from this body 2 , then in rotation of the plug in the body to bring this plug into the suitable position, finally a new axial displacement of the plug 1 in the body 2 to bring the plug 1 into its position of sealed contact with the body.
This particular mode of control avoids the hard friction of the valve 1 in the body 2, that is to say allows easy rotation of this valve in this body, while avoiding wear of the surfaces in contact by the fine solid particles. of the liquid transported which could enter between this plug 1 and this body 2.
20 The slight axial displacement of the plug in the body allows an unlocking of the plug, sufficient for easy rotation of the plug 1 in the body 2, this axial movement not being however sufficient to completely separate the one from the other. surfaces of plug 1 and body 2 which are in contact. The plug 1 rotating in the body 2, no longer blocked in this body, but in a position slightly separated from this body 2, it is possible to coat the wood bucket 1, or the body 2, or these two elements, with a material with a poor sliding coefficient, but exhibiting properties of resistance to the liquid transported. This coating will no longer be worn by rubbing the plug 1 in the body 2.
Another consequence of the relative axial displacement of the plug 1 with respect to the body 2 of the valve before the rotation of this plug in this body, is the possibility of coating the plug 1, or the body 2, or these two elements, with an elastic layer deforming when the valve 1 and body 2 are axially brought together and providing perfect sealing.
It is obvious that the deformability qualities of the coating can be combined with those of resistance, for example to acids.
