PERFECTIONNEMENTS AUX MOULES POUR LA FABRICATION D'ELEMENTS EN AGGLOMERE DE
CIMENT OU AUTRES. @
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
On pourrait évidemment mettre plusieurs telles frettes étagées.

IMPROVEMENTS IN MOLDS FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF ELEMENTS IN AGGLOMERATED
CEMENT OR OTHERS. @
The invention relates to the molding of parts of all kinds and more especially of covering tiles comprising, on their lateral face, projecting and / or re-entrant parts.
These raised or recessed parts are more especially intended to cooperate in better securing between the adjacent tiles with or without an intermediate binder. For the molding of such elements, it is necessary to produce the mold under specific conditions in order to allow demoulding. Cores which can be separated from the actual mold have generally been used, or else the mold has been executed with locally retractable elements or else the walls adjacent to the recessed or raised parts have been made mobile. All these means are intended to release the parts of the molded parts which could prevent normal demoulding by sliding the part out of the mold.
Furthermore, the use, for the manufacture of molds, of elastic material has already been recommended with a view either to creating smooth surfaces or to protecting the metal walls against external mechanical stresses.
According to the invention, molds are produced for the cold molding of pieces of all kinds of cement agglomerate and more particularly of covering tiles by using an elastic material, for example rubber, with the aid of which the mold is formed entirely including the hollow and raised parts to which respectively correspond the raised parts and the hollow parts of several faces of the elements to be manufactured.
Thus, it is possible in particular to produce the interlocking elements of the lateral faces and the recessed or raised parts of the visible face of the element without making use of the known pre-recalled means.
It is also possible, using such a mold, to produce elements of which the fruit of the lateral surfaces is re-entrant, which is particular.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
completely favorable to obtain a practically perfect contact to the right of the joints between the adjacent elements.
This arrangement is generally the reverse of that encountered in traditional manufacturing in which, the visible surface being in contact with the bottom of the mold, the fruit of the side surfaces is outside or out so as to give the part, respectively the mold. , a certain conicity favorable to demolding.
In the application of such elastic molds, in particular for the production of parts of relatively large dimensions, one can fear too great stresses on the side walls of the mold, which stresses could lead to tearing of said walls at their mutual junction. Such tears can lead to the escape of laitance and / or detrimental deformation of the part.
According to the invention, one can easily and economically prevent such an eventuality by using a hooping and preferably such a local hooping cooperating with a stepped arrangement of the outer face of said side walls to be hooped. This band can be maintained permanently or be made removable according to the demoulding requirements.
FIG. 1 represents such an elastic mold in median section; Figure 2 is a similar section through an alternative embodiment; FIG. 3 is a partial section on an enlarged scale of the mold of FIG. 1; Figure 4 is a variant of Figure 3; FIG. 5 represents an execution similar to that of FIG. 4 combined with a hooping element; Figure 6 is a quarter plan view of a mold applying the arrangement of Figure 5.
In the embodiments shown schematically in these various figures, the mold is made in one piece entirely from an elastic material.
This can be natural or synthetic rubber or an artificial resin whose qualities are at least equivalent to those of rubber.
In the example shown in FIG. 1, the mold is intended for the manufacture of tiles or slabs with a smooth apparent surface having, on their lateral face, grooves promoting the connection between the tiles and the joints.
For this purpose, the actual mold 1 has internal side faces of very particular shape constituted by an inclined surface 2, a rib in this case semi-cylindrical 3 and a part 4 perpendicular or inclined relative to the bottom 5. By this characteristic conformation, it is therefore possible to mold tiles or slabs, the side walls of which each have a median groove and an underlying surface inclined inwards.
In Figure 2, there is shown a variant in which only the bottom 5 has been provided with ribs 6.
It is obviously possible to give the lateral edges of the mold essentially variable profiles both towards the inside and towards the outside of the mold.
In Figure 4, there is shown such a variant; the outer side faces are in the form of steps. This arrangement allows, as shown schematically in Figures 5 and 6, to have at the appropriate location at least one hoop 2, formed, for example, by a metal strip or any other suitable material completely surrounding the mold.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
and forming, in a way, a relatively rigid support for the lateral edges of the mold, in particular when the latter are stressed by the thrust effect of the mass included in the mold. The corners could be cut diagonally being held in place by the frets. We could obviously put several such stepped frets.
The bottom of the mold could advantageously be reinforced or stiffened with an appropriate material, for example a canvas liner in order to prevent any untimely deformation.
This elastic mold can thus be judiciously adapted to any manufacture of parts molded from agglomerated cement or the like.
