Fig. 1 est une vue de face.

voisin.
DRIVING DEVICE FOR TWO-STAGE TWINNING MACHINES.
In two-stage twisting machines of a known type, this involves driving at constant speed the two endless belts of each stage by means of a horizontal flywheel placed at one. ends of the machine. In order to avoid, in this case, using a tracing device by bevel wheels which is noisy and absorbs power, it has already been known for a long time that these horizontal flywheels must be driven by means of vertical motors particular to each floor. In this case, it is also customary to use stepped diameter flywheels in order to be able to work at
different spindle speeds.
However, the use of two motors results in higher installation costs, changing the pulleys to change the speed
spindle rotation, which is unpleasant work and requires above all the establishment of undesirable tipping points in the travel of the belts. The present invention relates to a drive device for two-stage machines using a single vertical motor for the two stages, this motor comprising a shaft with two ends through which a stepped gear drives the flywheel corresponding to the pulley.
of each floor, respectively. The use of a gearbox of this type avoids having to change the drive wheels when changing the speed of rotation of the spindles and allows to choose the dimension of the invariable flywheel ensuring the drive so that the moving belt is not subjected in any way to an additional return as a result of its passage over guide rollers.
It has been found, in this case, that one can particularly reduce the size by directly mounting the housing of the gear control device either on the upper flange, or on the lower flange of the
engine.
Advantageously, it is mounted directly on the upper shaft end.
<EMI ID = 1.1>
laying at the various stepped rotation speeds of the spindles and
meshing with the counter-gears by means of intermediate gears which are
attached to the shaft end of the upper or lower pulley, respectively, driving the belt. In this case, it is possible to organize the
control in such a way that, by a single control maneuver, the necessary gear change can be carried out simultaneously, both in the
upper gearbox than in the lower gearbox.
If, for example, a four-stage gearbox is used and, therefore, four toothed gears stepped up and down as well
both on the motor shaft and on the drive flywheel shaft, it is possible to
then realize the control of these four stages in a simple way, thus
that it is set out below.
On a vertical drive shaft fitted with a handwheel are
fixed, at the top and at the bottom, four cams actuating four control levers each having two 'arms and arranged in pairs, whereby, by making
turn the control shaft by 90 [deg.], simultaneously separating up and down
low the pair of gears of a transmission stage from each other and one
brings the pair of gears of the next stage into engagement. To modify the speed of rotation of the spindles, it is therefore sufficient to stop the machine, to rotate, in this stop state, the control shaft by 90 [deg.] In
one of the two directions, by a slight displacement of one of the two pulleys, to ensure the engagement of the pairs of pinions and to engage
then the engine again.
The accompanying drawing shows schematically by way of example
non-limiting one embodiment of the device according to the invention.
On this drawing :
Fig. 1 is a front view. Fig. 2 is, on a larger scale, a horizontal section through a-a of FIG. 1.
On the two shaft ends of the vertical motor 1 are mounted

on the movement of the belt driving the spindles in rotation, the counter-gears 4 and 4 'being in turn mounted on the shafts of these pulleys, respectively. The two gearboxes are located
in a closed housing 5, 5 'which is fixed directly either to the upper flange or to the lower flange of the motor.
In the device shown are provided four control stages which are actuated by rotating the vertical control shaft 6 at the
means of the handwheel 7 fixed on this shaft. The drive shaft carries
its two ends of the sets of cams 8, 8 'which engage in the fork

10, 10 ', respectively. By rotating the drive shaft each time
of 90 [deg.], one ensures simultaneously, at the top and at the bottom, the clearance of a pinion
toothed 11, 11 'and the engagement of the following toothed pinion 12, 12' of the stage
neighbour.
