<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

TAPS IMPROVEMENTS.
The invention relates to valves more especially to those of the type in which the shutter is displaced axially by a predetermined amount so as to ensure maximum passage of the fluid, said shutter preferably being applicable against a seat by the operation. virtually instantaneous with a lever or any other suitable device.
In such taps, the mechanism itself is packaged in such a way that it is practically independent of the controlled conduct.
This type of tap is mainly used for beer flow or similar applications and in these cases it is essential to be able to keep the taps in a permanent state of cleanliness.
The object of the present improvements is to condition such taps not only so that they can be normally maintained but also under such conditions that this maintenance can be done without requiring the disassembly of the mechanism and while also allowing maintenance of the pipe by traditional means.
The fact that the mechanism does not have to be dismantled is of particular interest here because it allows it to be maintained in its initial state of adjustment and therefore dispenses with performing this adjustment after each maintenance.
In accordance with the present invention, these various advantages are obtained by conditioning the mechanism in a valve body forming in itself a device somewhat independent of the pipe that it is called upon to control and between the valve body thus conditioned and said pipe is provided a simple mechanical means capable of securing said body to said pipe in the correct position and in a perfectly sealed manner.
This very particular arrangement is further designed in such a way that said body of the valve being removed, it can be replaced by a simple cover allowing the use of cleaning bodies generally.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
used for the maintenance of drinking establishments.
In a preferred embodiment, the valve body housing the entire mechanism is capable of being secured to the pipe by means of a clamping handle capable of being screwed onto a suitable threaded part provided for this purpose on the right. of the junction between the pipe sections controlled by said valve. This ring is -susceptible to exert a thrust on a corresponding shoulder of the valve body so as to secure the latter firmly in the normal position.
Therefore, by simply unscrewing or screwing this single ring, one can place or remove ,, the valve without modifying the relative position of the various'organes constituting the valve mechanism.
These relatively very simple requirements and easy and economical to execute can be applied in highly variable material forms and moreover applicable to any type of valve of the type specified.
By way of example, a preferred embodiment is illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which FIG. 1 is an elevational view of a valve improved according to the invention; Figure 2 is an elevational view of the same valve in which the mechanism is separated from the fluid passage line, Figure 3 is a radial section through the valve of Figure 1; FIG. 4 shows in longitudinal section the pipe released from the valve and the cover allowing the cleaning of said pipe; FIG. 5 shows in longitudinal section the pipe temporarily blocked by said cover.
The valve shown is of the type comprising mainly a substantially cylindrical body 1 having an internal shoulder 2 on which the collar .3 bears. a deformable cup held in place by a clamp 1 firmly immobilized by a special nut 6.
In the bottom of the elastic cup is embedded a base 2 in the threaded hole of which is engaged the threaded end of a pin .2 superiorly extended by a pin 10 engaged in a small cap 11, A return spring 12 is supported., on the one hand, on the flange 5 and, on the other hand, on the stop 13 integral with the said pin 9. In this way, the said cap 11 is brought into permanent contact with the head 14 of the operating lever 15 The latter is mounted on the journal 16 bearing on the lateral flanges 17 integral with the stationary disc 18. The body 1 of the valve has, towards its lower part, a peripheral collar 19 on which rests a clamping ring 20. .
This is internally threaded and conditioned to be able to be screwed onto the externally threaded part 21 of the seat of said valve body 1. This seat is produced by the adequate profiling of the elbow formed by the junction of the duct sections 22-23. controlled by the said tap. The body 1 of the valve is engaged by its lower part in the corresponding hollow part of the seat on which it bears firmly by pressing a seal. The upper part of the valve is completed by a cap 24 provided with a slot 25 allowing the movements of the operating lever 15.
In FIG. 1 the valve has been shown duly assembled and it can be seen that the body of the valve 1 is secured in the correct position exclusively by the clamping ring 20 and in FIG. 2 the separation between pipes and faucet. It is therefore noted that the valve is separable from the duct without subjecting the mechanism to the slightest modification and without modifying the state of adjustment thereof.
In Figures 4 and 5, there is shown the conditioning of the conduits 22-23 to be normally cleaned. For this purpose, a cover 26 has the characteristics of the clamping ring 20 but with a solid bottom and simply screwed onto the threaded part 19 of said conduits by tightening.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
firmly a sealing ring, By examining Figure 5, it will be noted that by this simple means, the continuity of the conduits 22 and 23 is ensured and, consequently, the possibility of passing normally, without any contrariety, rinsing water with or without a scouring body.
The same results can obviously be achieved by applying different mechanical means which will be duly appropriate to the type of valve to be improved.
