"Automatic shut-off valve" The present invention relates to an automatic shut-off valve for water pipes, intended in particular to be incorporated in flexible pipes between the connection to the distribution network and a water consumption installation, such as an automatic washing machine, a dishwashing machine or the like, this automatic closing valve being provided with a closing member proper, provided inside the housing, and a seat for this closing member , the latter being normally maintained in its open position by a pressure spring acting against the flow of water.
Automatic shut-off valves of this kind have the task of preventing damage and other inconveniences caused by possible water leaks downstream of the valve, that is to say in the water consuming installation. Indeed, if, for any cause, a leak occurs at a certain level between the automatic shut-off valve and the water consumption installation, the water pressure falls on the downstream side, so that the component closing of
the valve is applied on its seat against the pressure exerted by the aforesaid spring, thus closing the valve and cutting off the flow of water, so as to avoid any subsequent losses of water and the inconveniences which could
result.
The known automatic shut-off valves of the type in question, however, have the drawback that they only react to a determined water flow, that is to say under well-determined pressure and speed conditions, which obviously limits their field of application. Now, it is this drawback that the present invention proposes to avoid. The subject of the invention is therefore an automatic shut-off valve to be incorporated in water pipes, in particular, in particular, in flexible pipes between the connection to the distribution network, on the one hand, and a consumption installation of water, on the other hand, a shut-off valve having the double advantage, on the one hand, of being very sensitive and therefore of reacting finely and quickly, and, on the other hand, of being easily adjusted for different flow rates.
To this end, the automatic closing valve according to the invention is characterized by the fact that the actual closing member and its seat have, in a manner known per se, corresponding conical surfaces carefully studied and machined and that the member conical closure (conical valve) and its conical seat are mutually adjustable by moving both or one of them. A first consequence of this system according to the invention is a much more sensitive reaction of the valve due to the existence of the annular slot between the conical valve and its conical seat, the conical surfaces of which correspond perfectly, this slot being thus gradually variable according to the water flow, that is to say the pressure and speed conditions prevailing in each particular case. A second consequence is
with great ease and efficiency in adjusting said annular slot and therefore the passage section of the valve by simply moving the conical valve relative to
at its seat or seat relative to the conical valve.
Other advantages of the system according to the invention will emerge from the following description. Thus, the invention provides that the housing of the automatic closing valve contains an adjustment ring for the conical valve and / or a passage pipe with the seat, this adjustment ring and this pipe being adjustable by displacement in the direction of the current or in the opposite direction, while remaining constantly urged by said pressure spring. The execution of this adjustment member in the form of an adjustment ring or of tubing has the advantage of better hydrodynamic flow without excessive pressure drops.
To this end, said adjusting ring according to the invention has an axial guide sleeve for a guide bolt, the end of which on the side of the seat is connected to the conical valve and the other end has a support for the valve spring. pressure, disposed between this support and a collar of said guide sleeve, all so as to form an axial guide for said conical valve. Said passage pipe is provided, followed

graduated, allowing very precise adjustment of the seat in relation to the conical valve. This system allows a particularly simple, precise and efficient adjustment of the automatic closing valve according to the flow rate, variable from one case to another according to the nature and the capacity of the water consuming device to be supplied by the by means of the automatic closing valve in question, adjustment carried out by means of a table giving the value for each particular case
on which said adjusting ring is to be placed. To avoid any spontaneous displacement of said passage pipe, the latter is preferably provided with a locking device, for example in the form of a locking screw, provided inside the valve housing. On the other hand,
it is also preferable that between said tube and said valve housing is provided a sealing ring, for example in the form of an O-ring. Finally, the invention also provides for the housing of the automatic closing valve to be provided with an internal thread and for said adjustment ring and said passage pipe to be threaded in order to
to allow adjustment movement by screwing.
The advantages of the automatic shut-off valve according to the invention, intended to be incorporated in pipes

connection to the distribution network and a water-consuming installation, such as an automatic washing machine, a dish-washing machine or the like, essentially consist, on the one hand, in that the system according to the invention allows a reaction very sensitive and precise of the valve thanks to the conical shape of the closing member itself
(conical valve) and its seat, and, on the other hand, a simple and effective adjustment of the passage section by displacement of the closure member itself relative to its seat or vice versa.
It should be noted that the flow rate is adjusted exclusively according to the requirements of the consuming device, so that the adaptation of the automatic shut-off valve to the flow rate is carried out, in each particular case, according to these requirements, fluctuations in water consumption being made possible by the conical shape of the closure member proper and the corresponding conical shape of the seat of this member. It follows that
the automatic shut-off valve according to the invention lends itself to fitting the supply lines of water consumption installations of all kinds, where it closes automatically and infallibly as soon as a water leak occurs downstream. In addition, it is an automatic shut-off valve not only of a relatively simple construction, but in any event of a very functional design.
The characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge more clearly from the following detailed description of an exemplary embodiment, given purely as an indication without any restrictive intention and illustrated by the appended drawings, where <EMI ID = 3.1>
