PELATEUR.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

PELATOR.
The present patent relates to a peeler, that is to say an apparatus for peeling the grains of wheat or of other cereals, characterized essentially by the way in which elements movable in rotational direction are shaped around it. the vertical axis of a cylindrical tank, which elements are constituted by conical elements with at least one straight element preceding the exit of the materials, or essentially by straight elements.
In this way, in the peeler in question, after the introduction into the apparatus of the grains previously subjected for this operation of peeling the pericarp to an appropriate degree of humidification, a friction of the grains is obtained with respect to each other. , and a rolling of these one on the other, thanks as specified above, to the particular conformity of the mobile elements, which brings about in a perfect way the detachment of the pericarp from the grain itself, that is- that is, the expected result.
A peeler device provided with the new designs given to the movable elements could be produced in different ways and in the course of this memo, two embodiments of a peeler will be described by way of example, after having described the movable elements which constitute the features thereof. characteristics.
The appended drawings represent by way of explanation and not limitation the elements which are the subject of the present patent and to this end:
Fig. 1 shows the perspective view from the front and in elevation of a conical peel element with its central bush and its arms carrying pins and blades, inclined with respect to the horizontal and to the vertical.
Fig. 2 shows in elevation the development of the central bush of the conical element shown in fig. 1 showing the distribution of the arms from the socket.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Fig. 3 represents a view similar to that of FIG. 1 of a straight element, with the arms tilted to the horizontal.
Fig. 4 a view similar to that of FIG. 2 but relating by way of example to an arrangement of the horizontal arms exclusively.
Fig. 5 is a plan view of FIG. 3
Fig. 6 shows a sectional elevation, partially in view, of a peel in one embodiment with conical members and a straight member.
Fig. 7 is a sectional elevation view partially in view of a peeler in another embodiment with straight elements.
Referring to FIG. 1 which represents a conical element movable in the rotational direction, 1 represents a central sleeve intended to be engaged on a vertical rotating shaft and to be fixed thereto for example by pressure screws 5. By 2 we denote arms in the form of a flat fixed in inclination at different levels on the sleeve 1 see Fig. 2 and extending beyond the bush 1 in a radial direction inclined relative to the vertical axis of the bush 1. Certain arms 2 see FIG. 1 are provided with transverse vertical cylindrical pins, fixed at equal height on either side of the arm 2, such as 4, or with pins 6 and 7 fixed at different heights with respect to the horizontal or inclined plane of the corresponding arm . These pins 4, 6, 7 are aligned one behind the other at equal distance.
Other arms 2 alternating with the arms 2 carrying the cylindrical pins are provided with blades or planar vanes 3 arranged vertically in alignment and parallel to one another at an equal distance, but inclined in the tandential direction by relative to the plane of the corresponding arm.
In Figs. 3 and 5, the central bush Ia carries arms 2a in the form of a flat arranged, inclined or straight, for example as in FIG. 4 at different heights on the sleeve 1a, and perpendicular to the latter unlike the arms 2 considered above.
It will be noted that an arm 2 or 2a carrying pins will alternate in the circumferential direction with an arm 2 or 2a carrying blades, and that the bushes 1 and or 1a are offset with respect to each other in the circular direction. conference on the central shaft to which they are attached.
In Fig. 6 shows a tray consisting of a cylindrical tank 12 provided with a solid bottom 17 and a cover 15 having openings 16 for the introduction of materials. Bolts 13 with tightening nuts 14 fixing the assembly in a very rigid manner. By 9 is shown a vertical shaft rotating in a ball bearing 10 fixed to the cover 15 and at its lower end, in a slider 11 of the bottom 17.
In the tank 12, 27 represents the funnel fixed by gussets 34 and distributing, through its central opening 28, the materials discharged by 16 in the direction of the arrow on the first conical element 1.
The vertical shaft 9 is provided with a series of conical elements such as shown in FIG. 1 and the last one down is a straight element such as that shown for example according to FIG. 4 and 5.
The elements 1 are in the example separated from each other by fixed cone-shaped baffles comprising for example a conical wall 13 forming a collector with at its outer periphery a passage 30 for the flow of material on a wall. conical 31 returning the material towards the center to fall again through the opening 32 on the next conical element and so on.
The walls 29 and 31 can be joined by spacers 33 but this is not essential and the said walls 29 and 31 can be fixed separately in the interior of the tank 12 by gussets such as 34.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
It should be noted that these walls 29 - 31 are not essential - and may possibly be lacking in the case where the tank 12 is filled - with grains and that they are not obliged to proceed according to the route indicated by the small arrows represented along the walls 29 and 31.
In the wall of the lower part of the tank 12 of the peeler there is disposed a tangential opening 19 adjustable by a register 19a of circular shape and controlled from the outside in order to be able to adjust the flow in the discharge pipe 18 to which connects the orifice of a pipe sucking the envelopes (pericarps) of the grains, while these are conveyed by gravity to their subsequent destination
The number of arms such as 2 and 2a will advantageously be increased to the number of six without the object of the invention limiting the number, as well as that of the conical and straight elements to be used in the peeler.
The operation of such a peeler is easily understood from the view of the drawing shown in FIG. 6 and offers no difficulty of understanding for the skilled person, the grains by the arrangement of the conical and straight elements. find, during the rotation of the shaft 9, continuously rubbed and rolled on each other and with respect to each other., and thus the obtaining of a quality product whatever the nature or the origin of the grain.
In Figo 7, we use the same external arrangement of the peeler as in Fig 6 with these differences that on the one hand the vertical central shaft 20 rotating in the upper bearing 21 held by the cover 15 with opening 16, and resting in a frame 22 of a base 26 is driven by bevel gears, one of which is controlled by a shaft 24, on the other hand in that the elements used are of the type shown in FIGS. 3 and 5 and for example kept at a distance from each other by nozzles 25. In this peeler there are no baffles and it works being loaded or filled with grains whose arrival by 28 is regulated. in connection with the exit being effected by 18 as above.
It goes without saying that it is necessary to envisage other embodiments of peelers comprising a combination of conical and straight elements such as those shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, as already indicated by way of explanation of the application of the invention without excluding any possibility of execution of other forms, for example as in Fig. 6 without baffles.
In summary, it is necessary to consider as coming within the scope of the field of the present patent a peeler characterized by the following SELLS the A T I O N S.
