SYSTEME DE PUBLICITE A INSCRIPTIONS, DESSINS OU. AUTRES ELEMENTS EN
MOUVEMENT CONTINU.

La figure 1 est une vue en élévation d'une réalisation;
La figure 2 est une coupe transversale;
La figure 3 montre une deuxième réalisation;
Les figures 4, 5 et 6 en montrent des variantes;
La figure 7 montre un dispositif monté sur des trépieds, particu- lièrement convenable pour les vitrines ;
La figure 8 en est une coupe transversale.
La figure 9 montre la boîte sans couvercle;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

ADVERTISING SYSTEM WITH INSCRIPTIONS, DRAWINGS OR. OTHER ELEMENTS IN
CONTINUOUS MOVEMENT.
This invention relates to a luminous advertising system with inscriptions, designs and other elements in continuous movement, which allows advertising at a relatively low cost, exuding by its very nature a great attraction in all places, more particularly in public places. shop windows, illustrating the items on display, describing the virtues and qualities by appropriate moving inscriptions, so as to attract the public's attention very effectively.
The advertising system according to the invention is produced by a very simple device, essentially comprising a panel of glass or other transparent material, a continuous tape bearing the transparent signs on an opaque background and a light source arranged behind the tape, so as to project the transparent signs on the panel. In this way, the sign is presented in a straight position in front of the panel and, if the tape is given a continuous translational movement, the signs, inscriptions etc. follow each other on a horizontal path from one end of the panel to the other.
If we disguise the outlines of the transparent panel = and the continuous ribbon during its movement, we create the illusion that the inscription or other sign rises straight from nothing, that it follows a horizontal trajectory in front of the panel. and finally disappears from nothing, with a very interesting publicity effect.
If you want, you can further increase the suggestive and interesting effect of the moving luminous advertising by adding, alongside the transparent element, luminous globes, so as to make perfect the illusion that The advertising inscription comes out of a globe, takes shape in the intermediate space, and ends by entering the other luminous globe.
The advertising effect thus obtained can be increased still further by placing, instead of the transparent globes, reproductions in
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
hollow transparent material, articles to be illustrated by inscriptions.
The attached drawing shows, by way of example and schematically, some devices implementing the advertising system according to the invention.
Figure 1 is an elevational view of an embodiment;
Figure 2 is a cross section;
Figure 3 shows a second embodiment;
Figures 4, 5 and 6 show variants thereof;
Figure 7 shows a device mounted on tripods, particularly suitable for display cases;
Figure 8 is a cross section thereof.
Figure 9 shows the box without a cover;
Figure 10 is a variant; @ Figure 11 shows a detail.
In Figures 1 and 2, 1 indicates a base box, subdivided by a vertical partition 2 into two compartments 3, 4. A motor M, arranged in the compartment 3, is intended to set the endless tape 5 in motion.
This motor is mounted on a cradle 6 pivoted at 7 to a console, fixed to the box 1, which can be adjusted using the screw 8 to adjust the pressure exerted by the roller 9 on the guide roller 10, by in order to obtain the adhesion necessary for the advancement of the perforated tape 5.
In compartment 4 is stored the endless ribbon 5, which unwinds between a transverse projection 11 and a roller 12, elastically supported by a blade 13 fixed to the wall of the box, rises in the interstice of the upright 14 double wall, moves horizontally on the slides 15 which limit the window in a horizontal plane, descends into the gap of the upright 16, also double-walled, passes around the guide roller 17 and returns to the control rollers 9 and 10 which deposit in compartment 4, where it is arranged in bulk, to restart its cycle.
The transparent panel 18 is arranged below the window, inclined at 45 from the horizontal. The transparent signs of the tape 5 are projected onto the panel 18 using a light source 19 'located in the upper projection chamber 20, immediately above the window, on which the tape moves in a horizontal direction. 5. The image of the signs of the ribbon is thus reflected by said surface in a vertical plane, and can be observed by the persons standing in front of the apparatus, as if it were moving in the space of. one end of the panel to the other
On the roller 14 is mounted a guide plane 21, intended to prevent any breakage during the pulling of the tape.
The aim of the guide assembly 11, 12, 13 is to prevent the ribbon 5, lying loose in the magazine 4, especially if in considerable quantity, can appear folded on itself. entry into the interstice of the upright 14, thus blocking the tape with danger of breakage and corresponding damage to the motor. If a fold occurs between the elements 11, 12, the pull on the tape lowers the roller 12, located at a suitable distance from the mouth, thus allowing the tape to expand, before moving up into the mouth. 'gap, of the upright 14. The transverse projection It can be, if desired, replaced by a guide roller 4.
To facilitate the introduction of the endless ribbon 5, the rear panel 22 is folded down and the motor M and the roller 9 are lifted, by acting on the screw 8, thus making easy access to compartment 4, to the interstices in the uprights 14 and 16 and the projection box 20. The adjustment screw 8 serves to adjust the traction adhesion, as well as to facilitate starting even with a low-power motor. It suffices, for this purpose, to raise the roller 9 a little, thus freeing the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
motor M, which will be able to reach a speed at no load such as to overcome the inertia of the mass of the strip 5, when the roller 9 is lowered again.
The transparent element 18 can be curved in an adjustable manner by securing the upper side 23 of the frame, in which it is held, in an adjustable manner by means of set screws and slits to the integral light shield cover. on the upper side of the projection box.
The transparent panel 18 bears down on the edge 24 of the base box 1, in order to disguise its lower edge.
To make the transparent panel as invisible as possible, its side edges are also shaped or disguised, so that the observer can only perceive the front edge and not the rear edge, which would mark its thickness. This result is obtained, for example, by bevelling the edge, so that only the front edge can be seen, or else by making the edge of the panel opaque.
The apparatus described above, placed in a display case, allows the use of a relatively large space for the display of the articles for sale, thanks to its slim form and to its very small overall dimensions. By adding one or more planes 25 and 26 (figure 2), one obtains a real and very interesting showcase for samples, where above the exhibited articles the luminous advertising inscriptions will appear to be released and slide into the air, without being hampered by the presence of articles on their route, which they seem to cross without making them invisible.
FIG. 3 shows an apparatus in which, to increase the advertising effect, alongside the transparent element 27, light globes 28, 29 are placed, so as to give the illusion that the advertising inscription sort of globe 28, takes shape in the intermediate space and disappears on entering globe 29.
The advertising effect thus obtained can be increased still further, by replacing, as mentioned above, the globes by hollow reproductions of the articles displayed in the display case.
For specific applications, reflection could occur not only from the inscriptions, but also from parts of the apparatus and the background. This drawback can be avoided by properly arranging the apparatus so that the light from the display case illuminates the apparatus also at the rear. This can be achieved, for example, by the arrangement of Fig. 4, which shows the apparatus seen in plan, the globes 30 and 31 being shielded, so as to project a higher intensity of light into the background space. behind the image of inscriptions or other signs. The screen can be replaced by chromatic systems, diaphragms, combinations of light intensity and color. Finally, the globes can be replaced by the transparent or non-transparent disks, having a light source at the back.
FIG. 5 diagrammatically represents an arrangement for obtaining the same effect, when it is not possible to apply lateral light sources, or else when this lighting is insufficient, given the magnitude of the front. luminous advertising inscription. In this case, the projection box 23, where the light source 33 is arranged, and the upper side of which presents the window in front of which the endless ribbon 34 unwinds, is provided with a side console 35, which carries the transparent panel 36; along the base side of this panel an additional light source 36 is arranged in a reflector channel 37 which directs the beam of light from said source behind the image of the moving inscriptions.
According to the variant shown in FIG. 6 for the illumination of the rear part of the apparatus, the same projection light source 33 is used. For this purpose a window 37 is provided in the rear wall of the device. the box 32. The rays coming out of this window are reflected upwards behind the image of the inscriptions by means of an orientable reflecting surface 38. By placing a colored filter in front of the window 37, it is possible to project behind the image colored lights, thus obtaining an increased advertising effect.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
FIGS. 7 to 11 show an apparatus capable of using ribbons of considerable length, so as to show moving inscriptions even on an extended advertising front corresponding, for example, to the width of a very large window. This apparatus comprises a box having a central upper part 40, and a lower part 41, extending by two lateral arms projecting beyond the useful lighting front. Laterally, the central part 40 is provided with two hooks 42, with a view to suspending it high errand in any suitable manner, for example from a tripod 43 applied in the display case. This tripod can be formed by uprights and by an upper cross member, formed by adjustable telescopic elements.
At the ends of part 41, constituting the projection box, are applied, adjustable in height, the rods 44 which support the reflective surface 45.-This surface can be independent of the box 40-41 and be supported by supports suitable resting on a lower plane, for example, on a table or on the lower plane of the display case. A screen 46 is applied to the lower part of the box 41, with a view to disguising the passage of advertising inscriptions from the inside of the window, while from the outside of the window 47 this passage can be disguised by the window. opaque upper part of the showcase or by a screen 46.
In figure 9, which shows the box 40-41 without a cover, the endless band 48, driven by the conductive roller 49, controlled by the motor M, and cooperating with the sliding roller 50, is accumulated in the wide chamber formed at the upper part 40 of the box. By the traction exerted by the pair of rollers 49 and 50, the tape 48 is passed around the guide rollers 51, 52 and 53 along the horizontal window 54, illuminated by the light source. 55 and around the guide rollers 56 and 57 to return through the pair of pull rollers 49 and 50 into the magazine. To prevent the portion of tape accumulated in the magazine from interfering with the smooth development of the tape, the diaphragms 58 are provided to protect the up and down sides of the tape.
The variant shown in Figure 10, differs from the apparatus described above only in that, while the latter operates from top to bottom, the arrangement according to the variant operates from bottom to top. The tape advancement organs are the same as those described above with reference to FIG. 9; the position of some of them has been varied, which are indicated by the same reference number followed by the index "first".
As shown in Figure 11, the lamp holder 59 is provided with two side flanges 60 which serve as a bearing and sliding plane for the band 48 which is guided by it and which is contained in a frame 61, which can be seated. 'hinged open for quick tape replacement and for the introduction of the light source.
It remains of course that the shape and dimensions of the apparatus may vary according to the requirements of the practical application, without departing from the scope of the invention.
