<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Folding box
Folding boxes are known with carrying members, in which either the elements of these carrying members are connected to each other by interweaving them in endings provided for this purpose, or else the carrying members must be attached in sticky them. The fixing of these nodes requires the personnel who closes the boxes for the customers, an additional effort and consequently a corresponding waste of time, which in certain cases can be very significant.
The object of the present invention is to eliminate this additional effort. The present invention relates to a folding box provided with a closing device and a carrying member, characterized in that at the free ends of two opposite side portions is provided each time half of the closing device, and surrounding the latter, half of the carrier member, and in that when the box is closed, the carrier member is simultaneously formed and in that the latter locks the closure.
The accompanying drawing shows two embodiments of the present invention.
Figure 1 shows a first embodiment
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
in the unfolded position.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the watch box and closed according to this first embodiment.
Figure 3 is a second embodiment in a representation similar to that of Figure 2.
In figure 1 all the folding edges which serve to fold the different parts of the box with respect to each other are shown in broken lines.
To the reetangular bottom part 1 are connected along the short sides 2 the sheets, which constitute the elements la, terals and above. To the two long lateral sides 4 of the bottom, 1 are connected the two lateral elements, 5, which also serve as closing members.
On the free ends of the lateral elements 2 opposite the longitudinal sides 4, the sheets forming the closure elements 6 and the portions of the carrier member are provided.
The two closing elements 6 have approximately the shape of clover leaves and are separated from the side elements 5 which support them by a slot 8 extending to the center, this slot 8 being for one of the closing elements 6 on one side and for the other closure element on the other side with respect to the axis of symmetry of the elements 6. Each of the leaf-shaped elements 6 is surrounded by an approximately annular, closed loop 7 forming a portion of the carrier member 7, the distance from its interior face to the lateral side 5 being smaller than the length of the slot 8 at the base of the closure member 6. Thanks to this it is obtained that when the closure is performed and the carrier member is in place, the latter makes it impossible to open the closure.
The folding box is assembled by first connecting the sheets 3 and the side elements 5. by their lower rectilinear edge portions using the small wedges.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
deputies. 2. and 10 to each other. Then, after filling the container, the sheets 3 are folded over the contents and the side elements are folded over them until the slits of the two closure elements 6 are found. in a straight line.
At the same time, the handles 2. are folded down on the side elements. These are moved relative to each other in the direction of the slot 8 until they can be slid into one another, so that the two closure elements together form a six-pointed rosette. Then we fold up the two handles 2.,. so that they come to be placed one beside the other and in this way form the carrying organ. The carrier member obtained in this way still has the advantage over that known hitherto, that it is connected in four places, instead of only two, to the container, and thus guarantees a greater carrying force.
With the carrier member produced as described, opening of the closure is also no longer possible, because the two elements 6 cannot move relative to each other to such an extent that the two slits 8 move away from each other. This is prevented because the elements 6 touch the inner edges of the handles 2. before a separation of the two halves of the closure can occur.
Instead of the clover leaf shape for the closure elements 6, any other shape can be chosen with a decorative effect. Thus, for example, animal heads or similar shapes can be used as a motif.
The embodiment shown in Figures 1 and 2 relates to a pastry box. Figure 3 shows a confectionery box, in which the closure elements 11
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
are cut or stamped approximately in the shape of a heart in the handles 12, so that the carrier member also adopts a heart shape, as has been shown.
The two embodiments are distinguished mainly in that in the first case between the closure elements 6 and the handle 1 a gap is formed, which does not take place in the second case.
The main characteristic of this folding box is constituted by the fact that, simultaneously with the closing of the container, the carrying member is formed without additional effort, which means a considerable saving of time.
