<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
Good Year" mixte,"Little Way, "etc..

Shoe with peripheral flap and method of manufacture.
The present invention relates to shoes with a peripheral flap.
Its aim is to create a shoe of great lightness and great flexibility with a new appearance giving the illusion of a very large sole while having an insole of normal thickness.
In accordance with the invention, this shoe is characterized essentially in that, on an overhanging gap, a square welt is fixed above which the folding of the peripheral band takes place. so as to give rise to a double covered peripheral bead.
In the practical embodiment of the invention, the stitch which makes the square welt integral with the in-between
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
can be made before folding the peripheral band or after this folding, this seam being in the latter case visible.
On the other hand, the heel is inserted between the in-between and a filling or the first and towards the rear of the shoe, the double peripheral bead is thus located at the level of the lower edge of the heel, leaving appear the heel above the double bead.
The accompanying drawings show by way of example how the invention can be implemented.
Figure 1 is a longitudinal section through a shoe according to the invention.
Figures 2 and 3 are explanatory views of the manufacturing process. FIG. 2 shows the peripheral strip before folding back and FIG. 3 after folding back.
Figures 4 and 5 show two finished shoes.
When making a shoe of this kind, the upper 1 is first mounted on a first 2 by any suitable known means, for example using seeds 3.
Then fixed on the first 2, usually by gluing, a filling 4, for example made of a cork agglomerate and on the latter, a gap 5 is applied which has dimensions such that it protrudes all around. the blank of the boot, as shown at 5 1 (FIG. 2) and which is made integral with the elements 2 and 4, preferably by studs (studs 6).
Between these elements 4 and 5 is inserted the heel 8.
It then remains to form the double peripheral bead which constitutes the essential characteristic of this shoe.
To this end, a strip 7 of leather or of fabric is placed on the drape, substantially in the position shown in FIG. 2, which is folded outwards at 71 (FIG. 2), on the end. tre-deux 5 and glued to it.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
A square welt 9 is then placed and a seam 10 is made so as to make the horizontal wing of this welt integral with the gap 5 and the strip 7 is folded around the welt (as shown at 72) and under the edge of the gap (at 73, fig. 3) where it is glued.
All you have to do is apply the outsole 11.
A shoe is thus obtained which has the appearance shown in FIG. 4 and which has a double peripheral bead 72 all around the lower edge of the upper, except at the location of the heel where this bead extends along the lower edge. of the heel.
The heel therefore appears at 81 (FIGS. 4 and 5) above the double bead.
As an alternative embodiment, we must point out the one in which the seam 10 is made after folding down the strip 7 above the welt (seam 101 of FIG. 5).
A false seam at 12 can optionally be provided along the projection formed upwards by the double bead.
Instead of the in-between 5, one could use a welt fixed according to a known system, for example the system: mixed 'Good Year', 'Little Way,' etc.
On the other hand, during assembly, the peripheral band 7 can be folded back not under the angled welt.
9, but under the rod 1.
