Chaussure.

Shoe. In shoes whose sole is not very resistant to mechanical deformation, in particular in those with thin leather, or whose sole wear layer is natural or artificial rubber or flexible synthetic resin , there frequently occurs a sagging of the sole in the part thereof corresponding to the arch of the foot. This sagging not only brings with it an inelegant deformation of the upper part of the shoe, but the sole, once deformed, no longer adequately supports the foot in the area of the arch of the foot, which causes the user to fatigue or even even a slump in his feet.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks.
Its object is a shoe, charac terized in that it has a lique metal blade extending at least in the part of its sole corresponding to the arch of the foot and practically parallel to one of the faces of the sole, so to prevent sagging of the latter in said part.
As can be understood, this metal blade, which can, for example, be cut or stamped from a thin sheet of spring steel or other suitable metal, for example aluminum or magnesium alloy, constitutes a reinforcement of the sole which improves mechanical resistance. This blade can extend over the entire length of the sole and of the heel and have means promoting the flexing of the sole at the location corresponding to the joints of the foot. It could extend only in the part of the melle corresponding to the arch of the foot.
When the sole or the wear layer of the sole is made of natural or artificial rubber or of a flexible synthetic resin, the metal strip can be embedded in this sole or wear layer and thus form a reinforcement for the latter, the all constituting a compact unit.
The appended drawing represents, by way of examples, several embodiments of the object of the invention.

Fig. 12 is a section along the line XII-XII of FIG. 11, showing in particular a method of fixing the heel of said shoe.
Fig. 13 shows a plan and FIG. 14 in section along line XIV-XIV of FIG. 13, a frame for the heel of a shoe, and FIG. 15 shows part of a woman's boot according to the invention.
With reference to fig. 1 to 6, the shoe shown comprises a sole formed by an internal sole 10 of leather and a wear layer 11 of natural rubber, generated from synthetic or from flexible synthetic resin. A blade 12 is embedded in the material of the layer 11. This blade can be made of spring steel sheet or of another metal.
The material of the layer 11 can be molded onto the blade 12 and vulcanized if necessary; this molding of the flexible material on the blade 12 increases the metal-flexible material adhesion, and makes it possible to produce a very compact sole unit. The blade 12 extends practically over the entire length of the sole and in the median plane of the layer 11. It has stiffening ribs 13 and flanged edges 17, in its part corresponding to the arch of the foot.
To promote sagging of the saddle, the blade 12 has, in the region corresponding to the joints of the foot, recesses 14 which narrow the effective width at this location. The front part of the blade 12 is cut, as shown in fig. 2. The edges 15, 16 and 17 of the blade are folded down perpendicular to the plane thereof and extend up to the level of the wear surface 18 of the sole.
The flanged edges 17 cooperate with the ribs 13 to reinforce the rigidity of the blade 12 in the corresponding part, to the planar arch. The anterior part of the blade 12 also has perforations 19, the lips 20 of which are folded down to the level of the surface 18 (see FIG. 3). The ends of the folded edges 15 and 16 and of the lips 20 considerably increase the wear resistance of the sole.
The heel 21 of the shoe shown in FIG. 1 internally comprises a metal armature 22, in the shape of a horseshoe (see FIG. 5). This reinforcement has in transverse section the shape of a U, the ends of the branches of which extend up to the level of the wear face 23 of the heel (see fig. 1: to 6), which increases the resistance. to wear, while eliminating the noisy metal pads usually used.
Ankles 24 for fixing the heel are arranged in the channel formed by the frame 22. When they are fitted, the material contained in this channel is compressed, which cooperates in a good fixing of the heel 21 to the ankles 24. The pointed ends of the latter are driven into the layer 11, without passing through the blade 12, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 6.
As will be understood, the blade 12 prevents any sagging of the sole in the plantar region. In addition, thanks to the recesses 14; it does not interfere with the good flexion .de the sole in the region of the joints of the foot. In addition, the ends of the flanged edges 15 and 16, as well as the branches of the U of the frame 22, form the wear surface of the sole and of the heel, reinforcement, precisely at the rights where this surface is the most subject to wear.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 7, the front part of the blade 12 is of sinuous shape. Transverse recesses promote flexing of the sole in the region of the joints of the foot. The material of the blade 12 is folded back at 15, 16 and 16 ', perpendicular to the surface of this blade, so as to form reinforcing members of the wear surface of the sole, as indicated above for the flanged edges. 15 and 16.
In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 8 and 9, the blade 12 has, in its anterior part, two longitudinal recesses 26, which facilitate the bending of the melle in this part. These recesses are obtained by cutting the blade 12 and folding the edges of the cutouts perpendicular to the plane of the blade, as indicated at 27.
These folded edges 27 do not however extend over the entire length of the recesses 26, to leave flexibility to the front part of the blade. At 15 and 16, the material of the blade is folded back, as indicated for the two embodiments described above. .
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 10, the blade 12 is perforated, in its front part, by transverse recesses 28, which confer flexibility on this part. The material of the blade, cut to form these recesses 28, is folded down at 29 up to the level of the wear surface of the sole, which increases the wear resistance of the latter and constitutes non-slip members. The same arrangements as above are provided for the folded edges 15 and 16.
The fifth embodiment shown in FIGS. 11 and 12 is specially given to show the fixing of the heel 21. The latter is made using screws 30 (Parker screw type), passing not only through the metal of the reinforcement 22 of the heel, but also through through the blade 12. The diameter of the holes 31 of the frame 22 and of the holes 32 of the blade 12, through which the screws 30 pass, is equal to the diameter of these thread-bottom screws. An excellent fixing of the heel is thus obtained, the screws 30 hooking onto the metal of the frame 22 and of the blade 12 and making these two parts integral with one another.
The reinforcement 22 for the heel shown in FIGS. 13 and 14 is stamped sheet metal. As it is not subjected to bending, it does not necessarily have to be made of res out steel. It has holes 31 for the wise threading of screws for its attachment to the sole. External flanged edges may extend flush with the heel wear surface. The woman's shoe shown in FIG. 15 comprises a blade 12 embedded in the thickness of its sole 11. This blade has reinforcing ribs 13, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 11.
The sole 11 can be made of a very flexible material, such as natural, synthetic or regenerated rubber, a flexible synthetic resin, etc. Such materials have so far not enjoyed the same success for light women's shoes as for men's shoes, precisely because in high-heeled women's shoes the sole deforms more and faster than. in a man's safe shoe. Thanks to the presence of the blade 12, this deformation is prevented in the part corresponding to the arch of the foot, while leaving the flexible sole in its part corresponding to the joints of the foot.
It is obvious that many modifications can be made to the shape of the blade, in particular as regards its front part. In addition, the blade, instead of being embedded in the molded material of the wear layer, could be interposed between two layers of the sole, for example between the outer sole and the inner sole. The blade could also extend only in the part of the sole corresponding to the arch of the foot and the heel. The heel metal frame could have a T, L-shaped angle section or other suitable profile.
