Abstract

This article of footwear is of the type comprising a sheet of plastic material acting as a sole and a sheet of plastic material acting as the front part of the upper of a shoe. In its rear zone, the plane sheet 1 forming the sole is covered by another plane sheet 3 which, independent of the front sheet 2 intended to cover over the instep and the toes, does not extend as far as the said front sheet 2, is welded via its two lateral edges and via its rear edge onto the periphery of the sole 1 and, by elastic deformation when the article of footwear is put on, fits snugly at the heel and thus immobilises the article of footwear on and around the foot, acting as the rear part of the upper of a shoe.

Description

PROTECTIVE FOOTWEAR
The subject of the invention is a shoe which can be used either as a shoe or as an overshoe, with a view to providing protection in many fields, such as hospital, nuclear, agricultural, household.

In this, such shoes or overshoes are known in themselves; and it is thus in particular that there are shoes or overshoes constituted by a simple sheet of plastic material intended to play the role of a sole, and by a complementary sheet of shorter length, which is, by its lateral edges and by its front edge, welded on the periphery of the other sheet and is intended to play the role of a rod covering the kick and the toes. Whether it is a shoe or an overshoe, this type of footwear provides only relative protection, since its resistance relative to the foot is insufficient.

The invention remedies this shortcoming. It relates to an article of footwear which is of the type mentioned above, but in which the flat sheet constituting the sole is covered, in its rear area, by another flat sheet which, independent of the front one intended to cover the blow of foot and toes, does not extend to said front sheet, is welded by the lateral and rear zones of its periphery to that of the sole and, by elastic deformation during putting on, hugs the heel and thus immobilizes the article of footwear on and around the foot playing the role of the rear part of the upper of a shoe.

The different sheets constituting the three parts of the footwear: sole, front part of the upper and rear part of the upper, are made of a plastic material. All three are advantageously made from polyethylene and can be welded either thermally or by high frequency current.

The properties of the sheet constituting the sole are significantly different from those of the other two sheets. Thus the sheet constituting the sole has qualities of insulation, anti-skid and good mechanical strength, while the other two sheets must be fairly elastic and resistant to any tearing.

According to another characteristic of the invention, the shape of the footwear, in its rear zone, is such that after putting on, the two sheets constituting the sole and the rear part of the upper form, on either side of the heel, two ears which allow to take off each foot with the other foot, therefore without manual intervention.

The appended schematic drawing moreover represents, by way of nonlimiting example, an embodiment of this protective shoe.

Figure 1 is a plan view, before use,
FIG. 2 is, on a larger scale, a partial sectional view along II-II of FIG. 1,
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the shoe in the use position.

This shoe is made up of three elements
- a first sheet (1) playing the role of sole,
- a second sheet (2) playing the role of the front part of a shoe upper,
- And a third sheet (3) which, according to the invention, is intended to play the role of the rear part of the upper of the same shoe.

The three elements (1), (2) and (3) are cut from plastic sheets produced by extrusion in polyethylene-based resins. The sheet intended to constitute the sole (1) is insulating and non-slip; those intended to constitute the front (2) and rear (3) parts of the rod are relatively elastic and resistant to any initiation of tearing. The profiles and shapes of the three elements (1), (2) and (3) are visible in Figure 1 which illustrates the shoe before use. In this state, the shoe is absolutely flat.

For the use of the shoe, the front part of the foot is introduced between the sole (1) and the element (2). The shoe then behaves, up to this point, like a slipper.

Thanks to the invention, this shoe can be transformed into a real shoe thanks to the third element (3) which, due to its elasticity, can be deformed until it rises and wraps the back of the user's heel or heel. of the shoe the user is wearing.

The element (3) thus constitutes a locking means, and therefore rigorous holding in place of the protective shoe or the protective overshoe, which contributes to ensuring good protection.

As shown in Figure 3, the establishment of the protective shoe for its use gives rise to the formation of two ears (4), on either side of the rear of the heel. These ears facilitate the subsequent removal of the shoe or overshoe. For this removal, it suffices to exert, with one of the two feet, a pressure, on one of the two ears (4) of the shoe or overshoe, of the other foot. Thanks to this pressure, the foot can be released from its protective shoe or overshoe; and the same operation can then be done for the protective shoe or overshoe on the other foot. This arrangement therefore makes it possible to remove the shoe or overshoe without manual intervention. Heaving is therefore very easy; but also and above all, the heaving takes place without risk of manual contact with the shoe or the overshoe, which is an important advantage in certain cases, in particular for example when using such footwear in the nuclear industry.

It goes without saying that the invention is not limited to the sole embodiment of this shoe, which has been described above by way of example, with reference to the attached drawing; on the contrary, it embraces all its variants.
