<EMI ID=1.1>
in
in
in

(fig.

The present invention relates to a machine tool
able to perform, realizing a considerable saving of
time and therefore money, the boring and finishing of hollow bodies, in particular monobloc cylinders for internal combustion engines.
The bore and finish of the bodies represent a
machining which requires a significant expenditure of time, given
that the attachment of the workpiece to the boring machine and its subsequent placement on the polisher-finisher is necessary.
Replacing tools on the same head is not a rational solution, given the various
in
dual-use requirements.
These disadvantages are eliminated thanks to the machine com-
<EMI ID = 2.1> provided on the same upright two tool-holder heads, i.e.
a boring machine and a finisher, which may be substituted

spatially kill each other during wear. The machine can be fitted with one or two workpiece tables, each of which can move longitudinally as and when
in
measurement of the progress of the part during use (age and which can be blocked, by means of opposed levers, in the respective desired positions.
The two heads are preferably interchangeable. Consequently, if only one table is available, the part, once in place, can, without further displacement, be bored and, by rotation of the tool holder support 1800, be polished.
If two tables are available, two parts can be reamed at the same time provided that the heads mounted on
the tool holders are both boring machines. If by
against the two heads are polishers, one can run
at the same time the polishing of two parts - If finally one of the heads is polishing and the other boring, one can ream
one part while finishing another part, which was previously reamed. The significant saving in time that can be achieved by virtue of the machine according to the invention is clearly apparent from the fact that the periods

It also saves a lot of space, because there is only one upright and two tool heads instead of two different machines.
Other characteristics of the machine, object of
the present invention, relate to the kinematic device for rotation and rapid advance, vertical and alternating

In the figures of the drawings appended hereto, there is shown, by way of example, a form of realization of the object of the present invention. The peculiarities of the latter will appear more clearly in the course of the following description.
Figure 1 is a front view of the entire machine. Figure 2 is a side view, Figure 3 shows the kinematic chain contained in the boring head. FIG. 4 illustrates the manual device for longitudinal advancement of the workpiece table. Figure 5 shows the kinematic system for the continuous rotational movement and the reciprocating axial movement of the shaft carrying the polishing tool.
The machine (figs. 1 and 2) comprises a base 1 associated with a column 2, a rotating support ring 3 and a table 4. The second possible table is indicated.
(fig. 2) in broken lines.
On the support 3 are placed at 1800 from each other a boring head 5 and a polishing head 6. On

positioning device controlled by a lever 10.
Driven by the journal 9, the entire support 3 can turn and bring either head 5 or head 6
in its working position.
The table 4 carries the workpiece, which in la.'figure, is represented by a single piece 7. This table can move longitudinally so as to bring the various cylinders of the single piece under the tool.
In Figure 3, which is illustrated, as has already been said, the kinematic chain contained in

This threaded rod receives its movement by means of an endless screw coupling 46 - helical wheel and two bevel gears 45 carried by the shaft of the toothed wheel 40. The toothed wheel 41 is wedged on a shaft
42 supported by a tubular body 49 integral with the housing
<EMI ID = 9.1>
a tool holder 43 for the polishing tool 44 is wedged from the carcass of the head. As can be seen in the figure,
the tubular body 49 is guided, so as to be able to move axially, in the carcass of the head and at the same time, it forces the casing 48 to move rectilinearly without turning, under the effect of the threaded nut coupling 47.
Operation is simple Thanks to the coupling

toothed wheels 40, 41, while the forward movement is carried out by means of the threaded rod
47. By reversing the direction of rotation of the motor, it is possible to reverse the direction of rotation of the threaded rod and, therefore, to make the return.
Figure 4 illustrates the operation of the table 4. The displacement of the table is obtained by means of a small handwheel which communicates a movement, through the chain 19, the pinion 20 and the gear 21 to the rack 22, which is integral with the table itself. The table slides on bars 23 fixed to the base of
