"MELANGEUR"

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"MIXER"
The present invention relates to a sand and gravel mixer for making concrete of the type comprising a fixed cylindrical tank in which the mixing is ensured by means of total pallets.
Whereas in conventional mixers, the vanes are usually rigidly fixed to their drive shaft, according to the invention these vanes are connected to the shaft by means of elastic means. This elastic means consists in particular of a forged spring steel pallet carrier in the form of a spiral, one end carrying the pallet, the other being fixed to the shaft. This arrangement gives the pallets a / wide margin of elasticity. This ensures the passage of the pallets in the material to be mixed, even with coarse gravel, without risk of jamming against the mixing tank. Furthermore, the mixing is carried out with ease without excessive pulling on the shaft, nor excessive expenditure of energy.
The accompanying drawings show by way of example

one embodiment of the mixer according to the invention.
Figure 1 is an elevational view partially sectioned; FIG. 2 shows on a larger scale an elastic pallet carrier seen in profile; FIG. 3 is a plan view of FIG. 2.
The mixer consists of a frame 1 in U and flat irons, of suitable dimensions to avoid any deformation and ensure the necessary rigidity, the frame carries at each of its lateral ends a bearing 2 supporting the shaft 3 of the mixer to which the pallets are connected. This shaft carries the tank 4, mounted oscillating to allow the pouring of the mixture.
In the working position, it is retained by a lock 5 which immobilizes it. A lever 6 integral with the tank allows the operation. vre of it.
The shaft 3 is controlled by a gear reducer 7 which receives its movement from the pulley 8 actuated by a motor or connected to a transmission.
Spring steel pallet holders 9 are fixed to the shaft 3 by bolts or other means. These pallet holders have the shape of a more or less developed spiral (fig; 2). At their end they carry, riveted or welded, the actual pallets 10 made of pressed sheet metal.
When the tank 4 is brought to its working position and locked by the latch 5, the shaft 3 which elastically drives the pallets 10 is rotated. The tank is loaded with sqbles or gravel with the quantity of cement and water. necessary for mixing. The movement of the paddles 10 ensures mixing of the various components smoothly. In the event of local or temporary resistance, the pallets 10 due to their

on their elastic support 9 ,, are erased spontaneously. Possible jamming which will occur between the pallets 10 and the walls of the tank 4 is also avoided. In this way, there is no need to fear excessive instantaneous resistance.
When the mixing is done, which requires about half a minute, the tank 4 is tilted using the lever 6, after having released the lock 5. The pouring of the mixture obtained is done by gravity, it is carried out without any 'it is necessary to stop the movement of the shaft 3.
As soon as the tank 4 is empty, it is replaced in its working position and it is held there by the lock 5.
She is ready to receive a new charge for a new operation.
The provisions described above are in no way limiting. They can include all variants of execution and adaptation without departing from the subject of this patent.
