J. SPAETH, résidant à DILLINGEN (Sarre) MACHINE A MOULER DES PIERRES ARTIFICIELLES.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

J. SPAETH, residing in DILLINGEN (Sarre) MACHINE FOR MOLDING ARTIFICIAL STONES.
This invention relates to a machine for molding artificial stones in agglomerates and in particular in vibrated concrete., Of the type in which the stones are molded in a mold placed on the ground and with the intervention of a vibrating pestle. and which, after the demoulding operation, are moved for the casting of the next series of stones by a distance corresponding to the length or width of the stones * as the case may be, plus a slight additional interval
In machines of this kind currently in use, the movement of the machine after the stones have been removed from the mold is done by hand,
for example 1-using a crank mechanism. This maneuver is relatively long and painful and it constitutes a significant factor in reducing the efficiency of the machine.
The machine for molding artificial stones which is the object of the present invention is exempt from this defect <, According to the invention it automatically advances the desired distance after the stones have been demolded. The advance of the machine is generated, in this case, by a device actuated by the control of the upward movement of the moldEn pratiquē ,, this device could be constituted by an endless chain wound on two chain wheels which are attached on the one hand. either directly or indirectly the mold which performs an upward and downward movement and on the other hand, a drive member capable of meshing with at least one control pinion of the advance mechanism of the machine.
this pinion being arranged coaxially with one of the endless chain wheels. The position of this drive member which
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
could be a kind of toothed sector or at least a simple bolt retained in a cleat and projecting, laterally on one side or on either side of the chain * determines the beginning of the advance movement of the machine .. while that the magnitude of this advance is determined either by an appropriate reduction in the transmission of movement to the train of wheels of the machine or by the diameter of the load wheels controlled from said train.
In the latter case, it is important that said wheels are easily removable. Stopping devices, for example with ratchet or stop finger * could moreover be provided to block the carrying wheels * when the molding machine is in operation. The same effect could still be obtained by fitting the controlled load wheel (s) with flats which block the machine when they come to rest on the ground. transmission of the advance movement of the machine a freewheel device allowing the drive member to return to its starting position without repercussions on the advance mechanism of the machine. this return could moreover occur do it automatically by
lowering of the mold into its working position.
The appended drawing represents, in schematic form * an example of execution of the object of the invention.
Figure 1 is an elevational view of the new artificial stone molding machine
Figure 2 is a side view
In the following description * no account is taken of the general arrangement of the machine which is, in principle * known * but only of the part considered as new. This part includes the electric motor 1 (not shown in FIG. 1 which controls the descent and the ascent of the mold 2 then !! on both sides ,,
an endless chain 3 wound on two chain wheels 4 and 5 one of the upper wheels 4 being wedged on the same axis as the pulley 6 controlled by the motor 1 The mold 2 is connected to the chains by bars 7 On a strand of the endless chain 3 (on the left in figure 1) is fixed the drive member S of the advance mechanism of the machine The latter consists, 8 in the example of execution shown of two toothed pinions 9 fixed on either side of the hollow axle 10 which carries the lower chain wheel 5 and a harness of sprockets and chains 13 14 15 16 17 and 18, transmitting the rotational movement of the sprockets 9 on the or the rear load wheels 11 of the machine (on the left in fig. 2)
It will be seen that these wheels are provided with flats 12 blocking the machine when they rest on the ground.
The operation of the molding machine thus arranged is as follows. When the tamping of the material poured into the mold placed on the ground is completed, the motor 1 is started by closing a switch (not shown). The endless chain 3 then begins to advance in the direction of the arrows, thus causing the mold to rise and the release of the stones which have just been made. When the mold is completely free, the drive member 8 engages with the toothed gears which control the advance movement of the machine.
These turn and do. advance the machine by means of the harness of pigons and chains acting on the load wheels 11 The machine therefore performs a forward movement which stops as soon as the drive member 8 leaves the pinions 9 A this moment *, the flats 12 of the carrying wheels rest in principle, again on the ground and the machine is blocked in a new working position. The endless chain, however, continues to run and to raise the mold 2 until it has reached its upper position In this position the switch controlling motor 1 is opened either by the mold,
either by hand or unloaded in another suitable way and the machine is ready to perform another work cycle
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
It is assumed that by a suitable arrangement of the drive member 8 on the endless chain 3 it is possible to vary at will the entry into action of the toothed pinions 9 and starting from the advance movement of the chain. machine Likewise, the extent of the displacement of the machine could be regulated by a judicious choice of the gear ratio of the transmission harness or by a judicious choice of the diameter of the controlled load wheels 11 which ,. in this case, should be easily removable.
To prevent, during the descent of the mold 2 and the return of the drive member 8 to its starting position, the advance mechanism of the machine is actuated in the opposite direction, a free wheel is therein. inserted at an appropriate place CI ;! which causes this mechanism to run idle in the reverse direction
