BREVET D'INVENTION
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

PATENT
The present invention relates to a device for closing the body of the superstructure of vehicles, in particular motor trucks or trailers, in which a clamping hook can pivot, and movable along the axis, engages in a hook of fixed closing, while pulling the open panel of the bodywork against the body and reciprocally locking the frame parts.
According to the present invention, the mobile clamping hook is mounted idle, by an annular end, on an eccentric by the displacement of which one obtains successively the advance and the pivoting of the clamping hook. By such ... the separation of maneuvers, we get to be able to use
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the entire available stroke of the eccentric to pull the open panel of the bodywork towards itself, while when opening the closing device, the hooks first remain in the hooked position, which prevents a sudden and involuntary opening of the closing device,
under the effect of the pressure exerted by the load of the truck. The use of an eccentric with yoke for controlling the clamping hook provides a very simple construction for the closing device. The small number of reinforcing parts that are required are located as close to the body wall as possible, and penetrate one another so as to be exposed to the least possible fouling and deterioration. .
The service that a modern checkout closing device can provide depends essentially on its operational safety. According to the present invention, several safety elements are provided which, while being very simple, prevent the locking device in an absolutely certain manner from opening or unwillingly loosening while walking.
For this purpose, the displacement of the eccentric is obtained by means of a movable spindle along the axis, which locks automatically by resting, in the vertical closed position, against a stop of the clamping hook. ' By lifting it, the gripping lever is released from the stopper, and after the following rotation of 180, the clamping hook is moved aside, causing it to execute a pivoting movement, by driving the stopper.
In a practical embodiment, the stop of the clamping hook is constituted by a bead in the form of a half-ring, over which the handle passes, after its lifting, through a curved part on this handle, while the surfa. these ends of this bead serve as stops for the handle when the hook / clamp is rotated.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Another security of the closure device is that the clamping hook engages, during movement, by a protruding member like a lock, below a heel of the base plate of the. eccentric. By this way. the clamping hook is locked in the closed position so that it cannot turn, and at the same time it is guided horizontally, which favors the forward movement of the eccentric during the opening closing device. To secure the clamping hole in an unadjustable manner in the open position, a recess can be provided on the back of the heel of the eccentric base plate into which the clamping hook lock can be inserted through the displacement of the eccentric.
Particularly effective blocking of the frame parts can be obtained by mounting the parts of the closure device on top of each other with a clamping force. To this end, the ends of the fixed closing hook and of the mobile clamping hook are curved outwards so that the clamping hook exerts a wedge effect when it is inserted.
The object of the present invention is illustrated by an example in the accompanying drawing.

Panel a of the body carries a fixed hook b for closing, and panel c a movable hook d for tightening. The two hooks b and d are bent into one square outward, so as to engage in the other while tightening. The edges by which the hooks b one and d engage (in the other are rounded or lowered, to improve the entry into engagement. To be able to use the closing hook b at all angles of the body, its upper edge and its lower engaging edge are executed in the same way.
The mobile clamping hook d is mounted, by an annular end e, on an eccentric f which pivots by a vortex g on a base plate h. For the displacement of the eccentric f, we use a mariette i unhooked in k. The handle i is movable along the axis in a recess m of the eccentric f, while a reinforced end n prevents it from falling.
When lifting and then turning the handle i in the direction of the arrow in FIG. 2, it passes through the unhooked part k over a drive bead o, in the form of a half-ring, of the clamping hook d, which has the effect that the hook d is advanced axially according to the figure 8 under the effect of the eccentric f, but it does not pivot.
A rotation of the handle 1 without a prior lifting maneuver would have no result, because the handle i is applied, in the vertical closing position shown in FIG. 2, against the lower end face of the drive bead o, and that the clamping hook d is blocked by a latch p which passes below a heel q of the base plate h. The closing device therefore comprises two securities in the closed position.
After advancing the clamping hook d, the latch p is withdrawn, after having served simultaneously as a guide to the hook d during the feed movement,
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
so that it is no longer in engagement with the heel q and releases the clamping hook d. In the meantime, the i handle has executed a rotation movement of 180. The eccentric f is therefore in the right neutral position. When the lever i is continued to rotate, its free end strikes the lower end surface of the drive bead o, and thus does pivot the clamping hook d to the position shown in fig. I.
By this means * the closing device is opened. When it is desired to fix the clamping hook in a foolproof way in the open position, it suffices simply to turn the handle i to the right. In this maneuver, the latch p is pushed by the displacement of l 'eccentric in a notch r provided on the back of the heel q, and by this means the clamping hook d is blocked in a way which is all your safety.
When closing, the handle i is rotated in the direction of the arrow in FIG. I, which causes the clamping hook d to first and simultaneously perform the feed movement and the pivot movement. With regard to the pivoting movement, the hook d is only subject to its own weight. If, for example as a result of soiling, it gets stuck, the handle i would be pulled into the vertical position, which would have the effect that the hook d would be driven with force using the upper stop of the bead o . Shortly after the end of the pivoting movement and before the return stroke of the eccentric f begins, the latch p already passes below the heel q of the base plate, so that the entire closing maneuver is carried out safely.
