<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

"Bicycle light dynamo"
The invention relates to a lighting dynamo for a bicycle, the rotating element of which, that is to say the magnetic ring with internal pole pieces, constitutes the control wheel which rolls on the wheel. rubber casing of the bicycle.
The armature with the lighting winding, which is the most delicate part of the dynamo, is fixed, that is, it cannot rotate and it is arranged inside the magnetic ring. Its axis is integral with the support of the dynamo assembly which is fixed on the frame of the bicycle in a suitable manner. Ball bearings are fixed on the axis of the armature and the magnetic ring with its pole pieces is attached to these ball bearings by means of side covers.
The current generated by the dynamo is an alternating current and it is conducted, starting from the armature, in a wire which passes in the hollow axis of the armature. The axis of the armature constitutes the second pole, on which is fixed the second end of the winding.
Given that, -in the device according to the invention, @
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the magnetic ring with its pole pieces directly constitutes the control wheel which rolls on the rubber casing of the bicycle, it is unnecessary to extend the shaft considerably, as is necessary in known forms of construction which feature a special command dial.
The magnetic ring which constitutes the control wheel has a larger diameter and, therefore, its sliding on the rubber casing is less, which also results in a decrease in the wear of the rubber tire. Since the magnetic ring constitutes the control wheel, and the fixed armature is advantageously disposed inside the magnetic ring, a very noticeable reduction in the dimensions is obtained. sions.
On the attached drawing, given only as an example: fig. 1 is a longitudinal section of the dynamo according to the invention; fig. 2 is a cross section of a four pole dynamo; fig. 3 is a cross section of a six pole dynamo, and figs. 4 to 9 represent details.
According to the embodiment shown, the lighting dynamic according to the invention consists of a magnetic ring 11 made of magnetic steel or other magnetic alloy.
This ring comprises on its inner periphery - pole pieces 12 of soft iron.
These pole pieces are fixed in the ring and in relative positions which allow them to be cast, in the ring by means of aluminum or other non-magnetic metal 13 or by means of any mass. appropriate, The shape of the pole pieces and aluminum, by means of which Il.¯¯ '

they are cast is chosen so that these parts go beyond the magnetic ring on both sides. This extension is advantageously used for cutting threads on both protruding sides. The non-magnetic metal bearing covers 14 screw onto these threads. The covers contain self-lubricating ball bearings or plain bearings.
The armature with the lighting winding is located inside the magnetic ring with its pole pieces: The plates of the armature 17 are fixed on the axis 16, part of which is hollow. One end 19 of the winding 18 of the armature is joined to the axis of the armature and the other end 20 of this winding ends in a terminal integral with the support of the dynamo passing through the hollow axis. 16, by means of an insulated cable 21.
The armature of the dynamo can be advantageously constructed according to FIG. 4 by winding the coil directly onto the partly hollow shaft. The soft iron pole pieces 23 are press-fitted to the shaft on both sides of the coil. These pole pieces are constructed according to fig. 5 and they are press-fitted on the shaft, so that the teeth of the pole piece on one side enter the gaps between the teeth of the pole piece of the 'on the other side, (fig. 6.). As a result, as the magnetic ring rotates, the coil winding passes the alternating direction magnetic pole and the winding can supply alternating current.
The magnetic ring has a knurling on its outer periphery (fig. 7) to prevent it from slipping on the rubber casing. Preferably, the magnetic ring is smooth on its outer periphery and a rubber ring is placed on it .comportant knurling at its periphery (Fig.8). It is obvious that the magnetic ring and the armature can have 4, 6, 8 or 10 poles.
Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments described and shown, which are only given

as an example.
