<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Pour assurer lefonctionnement parfait, il est absolument néces- saire que le brûleur soit monté sur une colonne d'aspiration de longueur appropriée qui a pour mission de guider l'air vers le fond de la cuvette et de l'obliger à passer par les trous prévus dans celui-ci.La cheminée devra avoir un bon tirage;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Supporting documents in support of a patent application filed by Mr. JANSSENS, Josef, Petrus, residing 16 rue DeBlock in Machelen Brabant) concerning an oil burner
This patent application relates to a new oil burner, established in such a way that complete combustion of the fuel is ensured by a considerable and proportional supply of air, which, mixed by vigorous stirring. and automatic gasified fuel oil 'by sufficient heating, releases all the calories from this gas and hot mixture.
This very simple device performs the operation mentioned below; sus without any intervention of mechanical or electrical force, by the only arrangement of its form studied to obtain the desired result.
This burner is essentially constituted by a bowl which parallelogram can be round, square, oval, / etc., the shape does not matter and must be adapted to its application; this metal, bronze or cast iron bowl has fairly thin walls which go in thickening towards the bottom in order to create there a heat flywheel which increases with use and which ensures, therefore, the perfect gasification of the fuel oil.
The bottom of this bowl is therefore formed by a thickness of metal in which a groove is provided to receive the fuel oil which is introduced into it by a small tube of very reduced diameter / the groove made of cast iron and located at the bottom of the tank. bowl leaves at its center and its perimeter 2 flat surfaces which are
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
pierced with round holes' pass through the entire thickness of the metal of the bottom and which have a somewhat conical shape going from the outside to the inside or bottom of the bowl.
This tonne of hole is thus designed to force the air which must pass through it to undergo a contraction followed by an expansive pain which causes within the gasified. It zout an energetic mixing of great value to ensure perfect combustion. .
Given the quantity of air supplied by the draft and the quantity of fuel oil necessary to ensure the well-balanced carburation which avoids the production of smoke, the arrival of the latter is regulated by a needle valve, so that by the. chimney, while the appliance is in operation, only gas comes out. hot, the carbon being completely transformed into CO2.
To ensure perfect operation, it is absolutely necessary that the burner is mounted on a suction column of suitable length which has the task of guiding the air towards the bottom of the bowl and forcing it to pass through the holes. provided in this one. The chimney must have a good draft;
the combustion chamber where the bowl is placed must be hermetically sealed so that the air drawn in by the chimney is forced to pass through the suction column, the holes of the bowl and comes to mix regularly, which gives a combustion without waste.
The thin walls of the bowl are provided with baffle-shaped openings which must be used for the passage of the flames because the bowl is covered over its entire surface with a real earthen slab. 'absorb the fuel oil that would come in excess lean the setting and as it is porous and very hot, gone in turn gasifies this excess which is thus burned in the. flame which comes out through the baffle openings of the bowl.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Lighting the burner does not present any difficulty; a small plug soaked in fuel oil is ignited and is introduced into the bowl by one of the baffles, the fire is communicated to the fuel oil contained in the groove, the metal heats up and soon the device is in full operation.
For the understanding of the system, we have drawn up the drawings of a round burner and a parallelogram burner.
Fig. I, section following AB: In I, actual bowl, 2, thin walls, 3, thick bottom, 4-, groove, 5, air passages, 6, oil square, 7, baffle, 8, stone cover refractory.
Fig. II, plan with cover removed, same indication as above.
Fig. II, cut along C-D. same indication Fig. 11 ', same indication as For Fig. 1' Fig. 111, Bottom of the bowl enlarged to mark the shape of an air passage hole and the movement of this one.
Resale I) I claim as being my invention, the construction of an oil burner, functioning automatically, without a blower or other mechanical or electrical means and allowing the complete combustion of it.
2) I claim as being my invention an oil burner suitably shaped for its application, characterized by a thin-walled bowl, thickening towards the bottom, thus constituting a. greater thickness forming a heat fly; a groove is made there, surrounding a center and itself surrounded by a circular space. The center and the circular space, horizontal planes, are pierced with holes intended for the passage of air.
