NOUVEAU BRULEUR A MAZOUT.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Fig.2 une coupe en plan correspondante.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

NEW OIL BURNER.
It is recognized that the main disadvantage of oil burners, in which the liquid fuel is not specially sprayed by injection or pressure, is the incomplete combustion of the oil gases, which results in the formation of fuel oil. smoke laden with carbonaceous particles, the deposit of which along the chimneys can cause fires.
The burner forming the subject of the present invention tends to eliminate this drawback by carrying out complete combustion of these gases. Ge result is
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
essentially obtained by providing, in a suitable base forming a heating plate, a pipe for supplying the fuel in the form of a coil. In addition, the orifice for entering the fuel into the burner is surmounted by a bell with a central directing cone, in which the fuel oil gases collect before being completely burned in the body of the burner by the jets. of air passing through the latter.
The actual construction of the burner will obviously depend on the envisaged application, depending for example on whether the burner is to be fitted to a central heating boiler, a stove or, possibly, an industrial oven.
By way of example only, the invention will be described in its application to an ordinary central heating boiler with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which: Fig. 1 is a sectional elevation through the burner, and
Fig. 2 a corresponding plan section.
In the embodiment shown in the drawing, the body 1 of the burner is cylindrical in shape and it is integral with a base 2, the inner surface of which has a projecting curvature 3 pierced centrally by a vertical duct 4. The assembly preferably came from fondrie.
In the thickness of the base 2 is provided a horizontal pipe 5 coming from the foundry partly with the latter and with a plate 6 in which the base 2 fits. This pipe has the shape of a coil, whose outlet orifice 7 opens into the vertical duct 4, while
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
the inlet port 8 will be connected in an appropriate manner: to a liquid fuel supply pipe. It is understood that the base 2 can be made of a suitably profiled steel sheet and will combine a tube wound so as to form a coil.
In the central duct 4 of the base 2 plunges vertically, forming an annular passage orifice 9, a cone 10 made of bronze or other similar metal ', integral at its upper part with a bell 11 of suitable dimensions, which thus surmounts the central part of the base 2, leaving a circular passage 12 in its lower part.
The body 1 of the burner is pierced with numerous air passage openings 13, arranged in staggered rows, and it is surmounted by a metal frame 14, which will be fixed, in the present case, to a crown 15, replacing it. the. fireplace grill. This ring 15 will for example be connected by vertical bolts to a sheet steel plate on which the base 2 of the burner will rest.
In order to ignite the burner, excess fuel oil is allowed to enter pipe 5, which will spread over the upper surface of the base 2. the! igniting fuel oil will heat the base 2, which then forms a heating plate for the fuel passing through line 5, so that the fuel oil will escape into the central duct 4 in the form of gas which, directed by the cone 10, will collect under the bell 11, itself at a very high temperature. The hot fuel oil gas then escapes circularly under the base of the bell 11 and is seized by the air jets sucked through the orifices 13. The gas thus burns, forming long flames which, passing through frame 14, lick the water pipes of the boiler.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Thanks to the preliminary heating of the fuel in the base 2 and its swirling under the bell 11, a very thorough spraying is obtained which ensures perfect combustion of the gases.
The oil supply to the burner can of course be regulated manually by a valve or automatically by a constant level device or again by a thermostat.
