<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

"Chatne unwinder for looms" .-
The subject of the invention is an automatic casing unwinder, constituting an independent assembly which, in addition to its simplicity and its low cost price, offers the advantage of being able to be easily added to existing looms of all types, without requiring any transformation, which makes its use particularly interesting for the automation of trades.
This device, remarkable in that it regulates the movement of the chain beam according to the diameter of the beam and following the tension constantly maintained at the value chosen for the chain and that, therefore, it delivers at each stroke of the beating, the precise length of warp needed to weave any article to the desired tension, is characterized, in principle. in that, the rotation of the beam being controlled by a member of said device, dependent on a moving element of the loom, the stroke of said member, which determines the length of the chain delivered, is limited by one or more stops the position of which depends on the diameter of the beam and the tension of the chain.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
According to one embodiment of the invention, the device comprises a single stopper, the position of which depends both on the diameter of the beam and on the tension of the chain, and which is constituted by a cam, of suitably established profile, able to slide on an oscillating lever, or "corrector lever", which is subjected to the tension of the chain, the position of said cam on said lever being automatically adjusted according to the diameter of the beam.
A variant consists essentially in that the amplitude of the stroke of the member controlling the rotation of the warp beam, and dependent on a moving element [movement of the loom, is determined, no longer by a single stopper , but by two stops whose position and, consequently, the action, depend, for one, on the diameter of the chain winding on the beam and, for the other, on the tension of the chain. This variant makes it possible to eliminate the mounting of the oscillating son-holder, which is advantageous in cases where such an assembly may present difficulties, or even impossible.
Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will moreover emerge from the description which follows, in which reference will be made to the appended drawings, showing, by way of a non-limiting example of execution, a chain unwinder. established in accordance.
In these drawings
Fig. 1 is a side elevational view of the embodiment of the device comprising a single stopper;
Fig 2 is an elevational view taken from the rear,
Figo 3 is a top plan view; and
Fig. 4 and 5 are detail views showing the :. or.- ganes influenced by the diameter of the beam, respectively when the beam is full and when it is empty, while in fig. 1 the beam is shown half-full.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Fig. 6 is a fragmentary view, in side elevation, of the variant of the unwinding device, with two stops, shown in the part comprising the stop whose position is dependent on the tension of the chain,
Fig. 7 being a front elevation view, the chest piece being supposed to be removed, and
Fig.8 being a top plan view of said cam = stop depending on the tension of the chain.
As regards the first embodiment (fig. 1 to 5), 1 is the beam carrying the warp yarns 2, 3 and 4 are guide rollers over which pass said yarns coming from the beam, 5 are the blades, 6 the clapper and 7 the breastplate, 8 being the fabric made
At the end of the shaft 9 of the beam, the shaft 10 of the device is coupled. On this shaft 10 is wedged a ratchet wheel 11 cooperating with a pawl 12 articulated at 13 on a helical wheel 14 which can rotate freely on the shaft 10. The toothing of the wheel 14 is engaged with a worm screw. 15 fixed on a vertical shaft 16 which also carries a ratchet wheel 17 and a flywheel 18.
The ratchet wheel 17 cooperates with a multiple pawl 19 constituted in a known manner by several pawls of different lengths in order to be able to actuate the wheel 17 even in the case where the stroke of the multiple pawl would be less than the division of the wheel.
The yoke 20, mounted for free pivoting on the shaft 16, is integral with a control rod 21, on which is threaded a spring 22, and provided, towards its end, with a pin 23 for the driving the rod forward by a saber 24, wedged on the leaf shaft 6 and participating, therefore, in the oscillations of the latter.
The travel of the yoke 20 towards the rear (that is to say towards the beam 1) is limited by its stop against a cam 25 whose
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
This profile is appropriate for the desired goal. This cam carries pins 26 which can move in a slide 27 of an oscillating lever 28, the role of which will be explained later.
The cam 25 (which has not been shown in fig 1 so as not to affect the clarity of the drawing) is connected by a connecting rod 29 to one of the arms 30 of an angled lever mounted to pivot about an axis fixed 31, and the other arm 32 of which ends in a palpate head, constantly in contact, owing to the weight of the lever, with the catnails wound on the beam 1. Therefore, the position of the cam 25 is dependent on the diameter of the beam ,.
The lever 28, hereinafter referred to as "corrector lever", is pivotally mounted at 33, on the frame and it is blocked by its head, on a rod 34 slidably mounted in a bearing 35 integral with the frame, said rod carrying , on either side of the bearing 35, a spring, 36 and 37 respectively, interposed between the bearing 35 and a sleeve, 38 and 39 respectively, of adjustable position, fixed on the rod. At its end opposite to the sleeve 39, the rod 34 is made integral, by an arm 40, and a journal 41, with a frame 42 which can pivot around it. of the fixed roller 3 and in which the thread holder roller 4 is mounted which can oscillate when the tension of the warp threads 2 becomes too strong or too weak.
The operation is as follows:
The oscillating movement of the leaf 6 is communicated to the saber 24. In the rearward oscillation (arrow a) the saber 24, by means of the spring 22, drives the yoke 20 as far as its stop against. the cam 25, which determines the amplitude of the useful return stroke.
Indeed, during. the forward oscillation (arrow b), the saber 24 drives the rod 21 by the pin 23, this drive occurring sooner or later depending on whether the yoke 20 starts from a close or retracted position, the more the clevis 20 can move backwards in the outward stroke ,,
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
the greater the useful return stroke for the drive of the rod? The multiple pawl 19 rotates, by the ratchet 17, the shaft 16 and, consequently, the wheel 14.
The pawl 12, integral with the idler wheel 14, then allows the shaft 10, carrying the ratchet 11, and consequently the shaft 9 of the beam 1, to rotate (arrow c) under the effect of the pulling the chain $ which results in a delivery of the chain ,,
As the diameter of the beam 1 decreases the cam 25, sliding along the corrector lever 28 is ¯ lowered by the play of the levers 32, 30 and the connecting rod 29 and due to its profile, the stop point which it offers to the yoke 20 is retracted, thus increasing the useful return stroke and, consequently, the amplitude of the rotation of the beam 1.
On the other hand, when the tension of the son 2 increases ,, the traction exerted on the roller 4 causes the corrective lever 28 to oscillate, through the intermediary of the members 42, 41 and 40, around its axis 33, so that the cam 25 moves back relative to the yoke 20, thus increasing the flow of threads *
If, on the contrary, the tension is too small, the corrector lever 28 oscillates in reverse, the cam 25 then advancing relative to the yoke 20, thus reducing the flow of fila.
It can therefore be seen that, in the device according to the invention, the rotational movement of the beam is controlled both as a function of the diameter of the beam and of the tension of the chain.
It is understood that the interposition, in the control of the beam, of the ratchet 11 to the pawl 12, is optional; it is intended to facilitate the operation consisting in recalling the warp threads for unweaving. The worker can then turn the beam, by hand ;, in the opposite direction of the arrow c and finish, for greater precision, by operating the handwheel 18.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
According to the variant embodiment shown in FIGS. 6 to 8, the oscillation of the son-holder provided, Fans the first embodiment, by the driving of the members 3, 40, 41, 42 is eliminated and the corrector lever 28 along which slides the cam-stop 25 n ' is more pivoting, but fixed, so that the position of said stop cam 25 only depends on the diantre of the chain winding on the beam 1.
To achieve the flow rate of the unwinding device also in the form of the chain tension on the loom, this device comprises a wedge-shaped cam 43, provided with an elongated opening, forming a slide, 44, which passes through it. the control rod @ 1 of the pawl-holder yoke 20, said cam 43 being mounted between the pin 23 and the saber 24 e. presenting to said saber its face forming an inclined plane.
Thanks to its slide 44, the cam 43 can be moved perpendicular to the axis of the rod 21 and thus offer, depending on the position it occupies, a greater or lesser thickness at the point where the saber 24 during forward oscillation (arrow b).
The position of the cam-stop 43 is made dependent on the tension of the chain by a set of members comprising: a feeler roller 45 placed on the fabric 8 and on the horizontal part of an angled rod 46 at the vertical part of which is fixed an adjusting arm 47 in contact with one of the branches of a bracket 48 blown to pivot 49 on the sword 50 of the leaf 6, the other branch being articulated to a connecting rod 51 fixed to the cam 43 .
It is easy to see, therefore, that if the fabric 8 is too tight, the roller 45 and the rod 46 go up, so that the arm 47 lifts the horizontal branch of the square 48 of which 1 au-. This branch pushes back, via the connecting rod 51, the cam-stop 43 which then presents a greater thickness to the saber 24, thus increasing
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
the duration of the action of the latter on the rod 21 during the forward oscillation, which results in an increase in the plitude of the action of the ratchet-holder yoke 20 and, consequently, of the flow rate in son.
The reverse occurs when, following a relaxation of the fabric 8, the arm 47 is lowered, causing a retraction of the cam'- stop 43 which then presents a portion of less thickness to the saber 23, which results in by reducing the flow of yarns *
It is understood that it is possible, without departing from the framework governing the invention, to imagine other variants as well as improvements in details, as well as to envisage the use of means constituting equivalents of those given by way of 'examples - CLAIMS -
