<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

The present invention relates to a brazier used for drying buildings and for viewing an envelope surrounding the coke basket. In the constructions carried out up to now, the main emphasis has been on achieving rapid drying of the parts of the buildings by supplying heated fresh air. For the supply of fresh air, therefore, jacket ovens have been directly connected to the outside air in a manner which allows heat transmission. It has also already been proposed to heat, by means of auxiliary heating elements, the air in the rooms which, in its circulation, is completely separated from the heating gases.
But these installations exert only a weak drying effect and do not
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
in any case feels that to a very limited extent the rapid drying which is desired precisely for new constructions.
The invention is based on the principle of achieving, by direct heating of the air circulating in the rooms, an energetic drying effect which also produces, in particular by the enrichment of carbonic acid in this air. circulating in rooms, faster setting of damp building materials.
For this purpose, according to the invention, a coke basket is used, the side walls of which are formed by bars arranged in the form of a grid and the casing is placed at a certain distance from the lateral grid of the machine. It is necessary that the air which passes, by touching them, between the casing and this grid, and which is conducted immediately into the room, can become enriched in the carbon anhydride which the incandescent coke gives off. In order to obtain as abundant a release as possible of carbon dioxide, thanks to the special construction of the brazier, a closed cycle for the combustion gases is achieved. The gases which rise in the coke basket are, for this purpose, brought back below the lower grid, passing through one or more downcomers.
The carbon monoxide contained in the combustion gases is thus transformed into carbon dioxide by the second combustion. Circulation is produced by the fact that the gases in the coke basket have a higher temperature than that of the gases in the downcomers. In order to avoid too pronounced cooling of the gases in the downcomer pipes, the latter are, according to another characteristic of the invention, transported into the space between the side grid and the casing. In certain circumstances, a duct for the evacuation of the fumes may be necessary when the brazier is lit.
For this purpose, in accordance with another characteristic of the invention, the smoke box located

above the coke basket, a cap connected to a device for the evacuation of fumes.
Other important characteristics of the invention will emerge from the following description:
In the accompanying drawing, several embodiments of the subject of the invention have been shown by way of example.
Figure I is a side view of a median vertical section through a brazier according to the invention.
Figure 2 shows two sections of the device represented by Figure I, the sections being taken along line IIa-IIa and following line IIb-IIb of Figure I.
Figure 3 is a side section, with partial section, of another embodiment.
Figure 4 is a plan, in partial section, of the arrangement shown in Figure 3 and
FIG. 5 is a side view of a median vertical section of an auxiliary device for a brazier according to the invention.
In the drawing, I denote by I a main support frame for the basket of a coke brazier. The basket consists essentially of hollow bars 2, vertical or arranged in a conical formation and serving to form a space, with a rectangular section in the example of the execution shown. The bottom of this space is closed by a grid 3 which, preferably, is executed so that one puinae la aocouor. At the upper part of the main support frame there are provided horizontal angle brackets 4 which project outwardly. These brackets are removably suspended from the elements 5 of the envelope.
The upper half of Figure 2 shows that four of these casing elements are arranged at a distance from the grid formed by the basket.
In this embodiment, these envelope elements are each made up of three wall parts 6, 7 and 8 connected at the @
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
to each other by vertical hinges 9. The brackets 4 have several notches 10 which make it possible to arrange the elements of the envelope at different distances from the grid formed by the basket.
Above the coke basket is a box which forms, by means of an intermediate wall II, an annulus chamber 12 open at its lower part and covering the section of the brazier formed by the extreme position of the parts of the wraps. The inner chamber 13 formed by the partition II, constitutes a smoke box (or heating gas), accessible, on the one hand, by a throat 14 closing from the outside and, on the other hand, by an upper opening that can be closed with a cover.
The annular chamber 12 is in communication with the outside air by means of a connection pipe 15. Lo donoin represents only soft neck pipes, on which elbows 16 are mounted, although in the example embodiment several, for example eight of these tubes 15 should be distributed above the chamber.
In this annular chamber 12, a flue 17 has been reserved for the heating gases, a flue which for the most part rotates around the brazier, which communicates with the smoke box 13 through an opening 18 and which opens into a descending flue 19 of which the outlet ends in a compartment located below the grid 3. This compartment is formed by a partition 20 disposed below the grid. This partition 20 forms a mixing chamber for mixing the heating gases with the room air, which flows in from below.
Before other embodiments are described, the operation of the device shown in FIGS. I and 2 will be described in what follows.
The heating gases which rise from the combustion chamber take the path indicated by arrow A in FIG. I and return, through the descending flue 19, below the grate. The unburned constituents of
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
heating, for example carbon monoxide, are brought back into the combustion cycle. As a result of the heating of the flues formed by the elements of the casing, the air contained in these flues flows into the room, in the direction of the arrow B indicated in figure I; at the same time, the air in the room flows towards the flues, in the direction of arrow C. This air, which is strongly stirred, is enriched in carbon dioxide by brushing the glowing coke in the process.
The heating of the circulating air, coming from the room, is further accentuated by the flue 17 which, for its part, is heated by the heating gases. The air circulation is further promoted by the air current which passes through the hollow bars 2 in the direction of arrow D in FIG. 2.
The interior compartment formed by the partition 20 serves for the proper and uniform mixing of the heating gases and the combustion air supplied to the grate.
It is possible to modify the position, with respect to the grid bars, of the casing elements, which are suspended from ordinary annular members, and to bring them for example to the position 21 indicated in dotted lines in FIG. 1. This reduces the quantity of air from the room and brushing against the glowing coke, while admitting the room air directly into chamber 12 in the direction of arrow E indicated in dotted lines in figure I.
If the casing elements are placed very close to the grille bars, the air circulation is thus limited to chamber 12. The air circulation can be further reduced by placing the casing elements in the oblique position 22 indicated in dotted lines in figure I. To secure the elements of the casing in this position, we use a place 23 for dhaoun oux. Solon loti needs, we can combine different positions of each c one of the elements of the envelope relative to each other so that with @ @
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
With the chosen arrangement a great possibility of regulating the air circulation can be realized.
The fundamental construction of the embodiment shown in Figures 3 and 4 corresponds to that of the embodiment shown in Figures I and 2. However, it departs from the construction described up to 'here by the fact that the four side walls each consist of two sheets 24 suspended from the upper support frame 25.
This rests on the curved ends of the main supports 26. Four descending flues 27 are provided symmetrically above the brazier. The downstream flues 27 are located in the spaces formed between the side grille and the casing. In this embodiment, the smoke box 28 is cylindrical and it is provided with a cylindrical register 29 which makes it possible to modify the entry into the descending flues 27 opening directly into the smoke hood 28. That -ci is closed by a frame 30 carrying tilting flaps 31 which can be maintained in the open or closed position by weights 32. The annular space which surrounds the smoke box 28 is closed by a cover 33 carrying outlet pipes 34 for hot air.
In this embodiment, the brazier is filled through the frame 30 which can be closed by the valves 31.
In Figure 5, there is shown a cap consisting of a hoite 35, with a square section, covered by a dome 37 which can be connected to a chimney, thanks to a pipe 36. The lower opening of the box can be closed. 35 by means of valves 38 which can oscillate around a point 39. The ends of the journals which protrude to the outside bear den bran provided with counterweight 40 ensuring the opening and closing position of the valves. In one of the side walls, there is provided a loading door 41 shown in phantom in Figure 5. The cap has dimensions such that it can be mounted, instead of the cover 42, on the top.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
smoke box 13 of the brazier shown in figure I.
When the brazier is started, the valves 38 are opened and they are closed only as soon as the ignition is finished. The cap can then be removed and replaced by the cover 42. For braziers with a box. cylindrical smoke, for example that shown in Figure 3, cylindrical caps of suitable size are used. It is also possible to carry out with a square section smoke box the embodiment shown in Figures 3 and 4, for example
