<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The present invention relates to a fuel saver for automobiles and similar vehicles.
The object of the present invention is, when the gases are cut off, to allow the idling nozzle to deliver only the quantity of gasoline strictly necessary and moreover adjustable when the engine is idling. To this end, the invention provides that a valve or the like is arranged in the duct of the idle jet and controlled by the suction vacuum of the engine.
The invention also relates to other features which will emerge from the following description and drawings given by way of example.
Figure I is a sectional view of the economizer system according to the invention.
Figure 2 is a sectional view of a variant.
According to Figure I the usual free end of the duct 2 coming from the idle jet not shown is closed by a part 3 provided with an internal channel 4 which provides communication between the duct 2 and the duct 5 which opens beyond the butterfly closing position 6 (position shown).
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Plumb with channel 4 is arranged a needle 7 provided with an axial channel 8 in relation on the one hand with the suction of the motor and on the other hand with the interior of a sealed chamber 9.
In the latter is arranged a diaphragm 10 integral with the needle 7. A spring 12 bears on the one hand on the chamber 9 and on the other hand on a nut system 13, against nut 14 mounted on the needle.
In normal operation, that is to say throttle 6 in the open position, the vacuum generated by the engine does not act on the needle-membrane system.
When the gases are cut (position of the drawing), the strong suction generated by the engine launched at a speed greatly greater than that of the idle speed, acts through the axial channel 8 on the membrane 10 and determines the descent of the needle in the channel 4 who is strangled.
As the engine vacuum decreases, the needle 7 rises under the action of the spring 12 and when the engine has reached idle speed the needle becomes inoperative.
