BREVET D' I N V E N T I O N Perfectionnement aux carburateurs.- Mademoiselle Andrée CLAUDEL à Veuxhaulles ( Côte d'Or)
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
I Le corps principal 13
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

PATENT D 'I N V E N T I O N Improvement in carburettors - Miss Andrée CLAUDEL in Veuxhaulles (Côte d'Or)
In carburettors intended for supplying internal combustion engines, it is as desirable for the convenience of adaptations as for the simplification of manufacture and the lowering of cost that a carburetor can be adapted at will without modifying its constructive arrangements, either. :
1 In ascending vertical carburetor
2 In horizontal carburetor
3 Inclined carburetor
4 In reverse descending carburetor
Changes in the relative positions of the constructive organs in relation to each other must not
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
case change the basic operating conditions.
The depressions on the adjustments in particular, must have identical values, whatever the conditions of adulation.
The start-up must also be facilitated without the engine being flooded with floods of fuel, as it occurs in the starting auxiliary carburetor devices, of the so-called starter type.
.The accompanying drawing provides a better understanding of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a sectional view and FIGS. 2 and 3 corresponding views, plan and end. Fig. 4 shows another assembly, FIGS. 5 to 10 show detail views.
Fig. 11 shows another assembly, FIGS. 12 to 15 show variants and detail views.
The carburetor shown comprises a tank at constant level 1 supplied in the ordinary way by the float needle system.
This constant-level tank laterally bears on its front face the main flow-correcting foam concentrate system in communication with the idle foam concentrate system placed above the previous one.
This main foam concentrate system consists of an foam concentrate tube 2, preferably provided with lateral holes 3 supplied with air through the orifice 4 and the annular space reserved around it.
This tube 6 foam concentrate is inclined at 45 on the horizontal; in the lower part holds a nozzle 5 of the flooded type coming out in the axis and inside the emulsifier tube.
A vertical well 6 emerges on the one hand below the foam concentrate tube 2 and on the other hand through its part above the atmosphere, above the constant level, a connection 7 makes it possible to supply ceppits with hot air.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In this well, an idle jet 8 is immersed, the flow of which is emulsified at 9 in the ordinary manner, the emulsion gaining through the orifices 10 the main idling channel II which joins the fixing head 12 of the tank-foam system. on the main body- 13 of the carburetor.
The fixing head I2 is flat, moreover provided with 4 fixing holes arranged in equal divisions and at 45 as shown in fig. 2 and 3.
The main body 13 is provided with a lateral boss 14 forming the contre.partie of the fixing head I2; gougons or screws make it possible to assemble the two parts in the four positions; inverted vertical descending of fig.I, or in vertical ascending position of fig. II, or in anterior or posterior horizontal position with respect to the plane of the figure. We can of course by means of additional give an intermediate orientation. This main body is axially provided with a nozzle 15 with internal tubing I5a.
The lower flange 16 of this body @ as moreover the corresponding upper flange of the shutter body 2I, is pierced with 4 assembly holes (fig.7) in equal divisions and with additional air holes 17a.
4 bolts or screws 18 allow the following four parts to be assembled in the 4 orientations in the horizontal plane perpendicular to the axis AB:
I The main body 13
2. The obturator plate 19
3 The additional air box 20
4 The shutter body 21 (in the case of the figure it is a butterfly shutter.)
The boss forming a counterpart 12 is provided with an annular groove 22 concentric with the axis of the internal tubing itself disposed axially with respect to the flange forming the fixing head.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The shutter body 2I can be arranged in any suitable manner by butterfly notammenou key shutter preferably using the channel 23 to bring the fuel mixture formed in the idle foam concentrate in the best position relative to the shutter.
In the main body I3 a groove has been produced, preferably being divided into sections by means of removable plug screws 42 clearly shown in fig.4 In the case of the assembly shown in fig.l, the idle emulsion arrives via the channel 11 (it opens into the annular groove 22; - from this same annular groove starts the channel 24 which descends directly towards the branch of the butterfly after passing through the orifice 25 of the annular obturator plate 19, the channel 27 reserved in the complementary air box and finally the canl 28 from which the flow orifices 29,30 and 3I leave.
To avoid any disturbance in idling in the case of this fig. 1, the cap screws will be placed in positions 32 so as to have no condensation or air intake through the entire channel 23.
If we adopt the transverse assembly of fig. 4 for the throttle body the screw caps will be placed in positions 33 and 34.
In the upward vertical assembly represented by figII it is noted due the shutter plate is no longer placed as fig.l between the main body and the complementary air box but between the butterfly body and the complementary air box.
When changing the orientation of the throttle body relative to the main body, the holes forming the idle channel will obviously be followed as shown in Figs 6 and 8.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
in the position corresponded to the regulating mouth of the throttle valve or the shutter.
The well known system of com @ lèmentaire ball air will be advantageously replaced by the automatic air adjustment box shown in figs 12 and 13. It is clearly seen in these figures that the balls are replaced by movable shutters 35 moving. in the corresponding alveoli; your return springs of variable and preferably different tension press the shutters on their seats when the depression acting through the orifices 60 above these shutters is insufficient, but as soon as this depression is sufficient from the bottom of the cells, the arrival is discovered. air coming from orifices 36 and entering the interior of the mixing chamber through side orifices 3.
This arrangement can operate in practically any possible orientation, unlike balls which operate in a vertical direction and are subject to lateral and inadvertent movements.
The start-up device is characterized by the fact that a slight increase in the opening of the throttle or the throttle valve with respect to the extreme hot idle position has been combined with a command which when a lever 38 comes to ensure at the time of starting the support of a resert 39 or of an additional free weight which comes to weigh down the float in such a way that the constant level is raised by a height h , adjustable at will, either by the tension of the spring 39, or the weight of the additional weight which replaces it.
The additional opening of the throttle valve at the time of departure can also be adjusted at will, by varying, for example, the delay 1 fig. 2, between the stop finger mounted on the lever and the rod stopper 'by rotation of the control rod 40
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
A screw 41 makes it possible to adjust the starting overload according to the season, the state of the motor; lubricant, or fuel used.
It is possible to substitute for the emilers system described as (Example ,. a completely different device with multiple or simple nozzles.
In the case where it is desired to operate the engine with two fuels of different volatilities, in mixing these fuels, the device shown in FIG. 1 4 in horizontal section.
The flange 12a will be arranged to receive and support a double tank-emulsifier system, one, 43, supplied with light fuel, the other 44, supplied with heavy fuel.
The nozzle 13 carrying the internal tubing 14 can be moved by hand or automatically by a regulator or by thermostat acting on the lever 47.
The tank-foam concentrate system supplied with light fuel can thus be kept at a temperature as low as possible and calorically insulated from the main body and the reheating system, while the heavy product feed system will, on the contrary, be as heated as necessary. the latter could also be a device with an idle power supply, reserved for the system using the light product.
In the position of fig., The engine will be supplied with light fuel; by moving the lever in the direction of the arrow 51, the mixture will be depleted by directing clean air through the pipe 46.
By moving the lever in the direction of arrow 52, the heavy fuel will gradually be started, the flow rate of which will increase with the increase in movement of the lever.
Finally, continuing the movement, the heavy fuel flow will be impoverished by taking preferably hot air through the pipe 45 ..
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
It is possible to combine in a similar or identical arrangement 4 in FIG. 14, a foam concentrate set to supply at idle and low engine speeds at full or partial intake a tank-foam concentrate system, supplied with light fuel for starting, idling, pick-ups and low speeds, supplied with low fuel exploding.
The other emulsifier tank will be supplied with heavier or more explosive fuel.
The handle 47 and the main shutter control may be combined with the same command, or joined in an adjustable manner by hand or automatically, by regulator or thermostat, all or part in conjunction or not with the advance to ignition.
It is of course possible to add adjustment members to the two air intakes of the foam concentrate, that is to say both on the air intake 5 of the main nozzle, as on the entry 43 of the annular space around the foam tube. This adjustment member shown schematically at 61 (fig. 15) can be controlled either by hand, or by thermostat or by some other automatic system, all in conjunction or not with the control of the throttle or the throttle valve.
It is possible to feed the annular space around the foamer tube, as moreover leppits, by an additional flow of fuel.
It is advantageously possible, according to the device shown in FIG. 15, bring in front of the internal pipe 14, a certain quantity of very hot air, taken by means of any exchanger, placed near the engine exhaust outlet.
