<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Si la somme d'un chiffre que l'on marque, et d'un chiffre précédemment inscrit à la même unité, est supérieure à neuf; au lieu d'effectuer un mouvement de descente avec la pointe, on effectue un mouvement inverse de remontée, et l'invention est caractérisée par un dispositif qui augmente alors automatiquement d'une unité le chiffre de l'unité suivante, les dizaines s'il s'agissait des unités, les centaines s' il s'agissait des dizai- nes, etc. en faisant apparaître le chiffre voulu au tableau des unités en question ;

<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

Totalizer for games.
The present invention relates to a totalizer for games, in particular, but not limited to, for Russian billiards.
The totalizer according to the invention consists essentially of a flat box, constituting a table which can be hung on a wall, and inside which are slidably mounted, preferably vertically, a certain number of slats or bars provided with notches appearing in the slits of the box and opposite the numbers 0 to 9 marked along said slits.
Numbers are marked and added by inserting a point in the slot for units, tens, etc. as the case may be, in the notch opposite the number of each unit that is to be marked and by lowering the respective slat until the said point reaches a stop generally constituted by the lower end of the slot, the number in question, marked on an invisible extension of the same batten then appears in an ad hoc window
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
of the face of the box, or is automatically added to the number which appeared there previously.
If the sum of a digit that is marked, and of a digit previously entered in the same unit, is greater than nine; instead of performing a downward movement with the point, a reverse upward movement is carried out, and the invention is characterized by a device which then automatically increases the digit of the next unit by one, the tens s' it was units, hundreds if it was tens, etc. by showing the desired figure in the table of units in question;
this device consists in particular of a transmitting member mounted between each pair of adjacent slats, and conferred in such a way that each time the slat is raised to the full stroke, the point by which cn moves said slat moves this member which at its turn acts on one of a series of projections, painted, stops or hollows of the left slat, to lower said slat by a notch.
The apparatus according to the invention is also characterized by the fact that the notches of the slats, in which a point must be introduced in order to raise or lower each slat, are formed in a rack, that is to say are in the form of teeth, one side of which is inclined while the other forms a stop, so as to only allow the slat to be hooked in a determined direction. The two series of notches on each slat, one to lower the slat and the other to raise it, are therefore in racks directed in opposite directions, and can be provided with distinctive colors indicating the direction in which the operation must be done.
One embodiment of the apparatus has been shown by way of non-limiting example in the accompanying drawing in which: Fig.l is a front view of the apparatus, Fig.2 is a similar view with the face plate removed to show the interior layout,

well the upper notches can be made of a series of holes as shown in fig. 5.
Each slat 4 to 7 bears the series of numbers zero to nine placed in the same orientation, and the same spacing with respect to each other, as the numbers inscribed on plate 2, one of the figures inscribed on each of the slats 4 to 7 appearing in a sight glass or window 13, provided for each slat 4 to 7 in the face plate 2.
Between each pair of consecutive slats: 4-5, 5-6, 6-7, there is mounted a transmitting member, in the example a cross with four or more branches 14, on a pivot 15, at the upper end of the respective slot 10, so that the lower right branch of the cross is under the respective slot 10. The crosses 14 can be located either above the slats 4 to 7, sum it is shown, or below, but in the latter case, the series of notches 12 must consist of holes, such as a point introduced into one of these holes can act on the lower arm of the cross to make it make a quarter turn.
On the other hand each of the slats 5 to 7, that is to say located to the left of a cross 14, has a series of ten projections or points 17, located in such a way that, each time a cross 14 is subjected to a quarter turn in the aforementioned manner, a branch of the cross moves the left slat forward by a projection, that is to say by one unit, thus increasing the figure by one unit. appearing at the respective window 13.
At the base of the box there is still mounted, sliding in the direction of the slats 4 to 7, a transverse bar 18 maneuverable by a button 19 carried by a rod passing through a slot 20 in the plate 2.
Oven to use the appliance, we must first bring everything back to zero by raising the button 19 to the upper end of its slot, then bringing it back to the full travel direction.

the bottom. To enter a number such as 260, a point is successively introduced into the notches 2, 6 and 0 of the slats 6, 5 and 4 corresponding respectively to the hundreds, to the tens and to the units, and each time the notch is brought to the bottom of the slot 10 respective. The number 26C therefore appears in windows 13 of the table, as shown in the drawing.
We can then enter a second number such as 1515, by operating

So that's the total 1775.
If we enter a number such that the total of the units in any column exceeds nine, the neighboring column on the left will automatically see its number increased by one unit, while the column in which it is first mentioned indicates the number of units. above ten corresponding to the total

When making the successive registrations, we must establish a rule of always operating from right to left, starting by marking the units, then the tens, then the hundreds, etc. In this case the additions are made regularly, in the above manner, up to the number 2999, after which the device must be brought to zero by button 19, although it is understood that the device is not limited. four slats, and that it could have a greater number of movable slats to total numbers of more than four.
If you marked a number going from left to right, the device does not mark when two consecutive units reach nine. In fact, suppose that after having marked the number two hundred and sixty, we want to mark the number one thousand seven hundred and forty, operating from left to right. We therefore first mark the mile by lowering batten 7 by a notch; seven of the hundreds adds to the two hundred already marked to make nine of the hundreds.
When we add four to the six of tens, going up as we should, at the end of the stroke we cannot advance the slat 6 one notch, since it is at nine and thus cannot increase the thousand more d 'a unit. To warn the user of his wrong way of proceeding, each of the slats 4 to 7 can be arranged so that after showing the new one, they can go down a notch again, and for example make a red color appear at the bottom. window 13, to indicate that the operation must be restarted by operating correctly from right to left.
The transmitting member between a batten and the neighboring left batten, and attacked by the operating point when the latter reaches its full stroke upwards, may be a gear,

a rocking lever, a spring-loaded pawl or any other, the corresponding part of the left bar, that is to say that attacked by this member, being shaped accordingly.
CLAIMS.
1. Totalizer for games, comprising a flat box constituting a table, and inside which are slidably mounted a number of bars or parallel slats, provided with notches appearing in slots in the visible face of said box. , and opposite the numbers zero to nine marked at regular intervals along said slits, the numbers being marked and added together in a known manner by inserting a point into determined notches and by moving said slats or bars in a certain sense to show the total by windows or lights in the face of the box, characterized in that, when the total of the points marked in one of the units, either in the units, in the tens, in the hundreds, etc.
exceeds nine, the movement of the slat or bar corresponding to this unit is done in the opposite direction, and thus automatically advances the slat or bar of the immediately higher units by one notch.
2. Embodiment of a totalizer according to claim 1, characterized in that, between the consecutive slats of the same pair of slats or movable bars, there is mounted a transmitting member arranged so that, when a slat is moved in the zens opposite to the normal totalization people (therefore when, at this batten, the number of units inscribed exceeds 9) the point which causes the movement of the batten comes, when reaching full stroke, attack the The transmitting organ, which transmits to the neighboring left slat an advancement corresponding to one unit.
