<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

'Brick press @
The present invention relates to a brick press in which a motor mechanism controls the movements of a balance acting on the piston for compressing the soil in the mold, as well as the movement of a release lever acting on the same. piston.
Its goal is to produce a very robust and easy-to-use pe @ expensive brick press.
A brick press according to the invention comprises between the balance and the aforesaid lever a mechanical connection capable of causing the movement of said lever at the same time as that of said balance, while making the release lever inactive during the operation. - pressure.
The release lever pivots around a pivot carried by the piston rod and is connected by a connecting rod.

pui being movable so as to be able to be brought out of reach of the demolding lever after demolding.
Range to carry out the demolding requires a relatively large displacement compared to that necessary for the compression, and as the force necessary to carry out this demolding is relatively small compared to that necessary to carry out the compression, we provides, according to the invention, to connect the aforesaid rod to the compression balance and to the release lever at a distance from the point of articulation of said balance equal to several times the distance between this point of articulation and the fulcrum of said balance on the piston rod.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the disabling of action of the release lever is performed automatically by the fact that the movable fulcrum of the release lever is connected by a mechanical connection to a stop, capable of 'be moved by a cam so as to bring the fulcrum of the release lever out of reach of the latter after release.
In order to make the press inactive during the filling of the mold with the earth, without having to stop the engine, provision is made, according to the invention, to disconnect from a crank button, a connecting rod connected to the aforementioned balance. . This separation is for example controlled by the operation of the locking device of the mold cover. This maneuver can moreover be controlled in turn by the movement of the balance.
Other details and features of the invention will appear in the course of the description of the drawings appended hereto and which represent, schematically, by way of example only, one embodiment of the invention.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a following press

before the invention when the mold is opened for filling with soil.
Figure 2 is an elevational view of this press when the mold cover has been locked.
FIG. 3 represents the press in elevation at the moment when the compression of the earth takes place.
Figure 4 is an elevational view at the time of demolding.
The machine comprises a piston .2, movable in a mold 3. The rod 2a of this piston rests on a roller 4a carried by a compression balance 4 This is articulated at 4b and is connected to a connecting rod 5 It is also connected to a release lever 6 via a rod 7 The release lever 6 pivots at 2b around a pivot integral with the rod 2a of the piston .2 ..
The balance 4 carries two parts 8 and 9 The part 9 carries a pin 9a. When the balance 4 oscillates upwards around its point of articulation 4b the spindle 9a meets a rocking part 10 pivoting at 10a The pivot 10a is carried by an elbow lever 11 pivoting at 11a This lever 11 is connected by a rod 12 to a device 13 for locking the cover 1.4 when the latter is applied to the mold 3. This cover 14 is constantly urged by a counterweight 14a towards the open position shown in FIG. 1.
The locking device 13 pivots at 13a and is connected to a bar 15 guided at 15a and carrying a / roller 15b able to press against the connecting rod 5 which is moreover constantly urged towards this roller by a counterweight 5a. .
The connecting rod 5 is also provided with a half-bearing 5d in which a crank button 16 can be engaged.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
This crank button is carried by a plate 17 wedged on a motor shaft 17a, actuated in any way not shown. The plate 17 also carries two rollers 17b and 17d intended to act on the parts 8 and 9 carried by the balance 4 Finally, on the shaft 17a is wedged a cam 17f which can act on a stop 18 carried by a rod 18a connected to a lever 19. The latter pivots at 19a and carries a counterweight 20. To this lever is connected a rod 21 connected on the other hand to an arm 22 carrying a roller 22a and capable of pivoting about a fixed pivot 22b.
When the mold is filled, the cover 14 is lowered and the unlocking device 13 is moved by hand, for example into the position shown in FIG. 2. By this maneuver, the bar 15 as well as the roller 15b pushes + the connecting rod 5 in a position such that a crank button 16 can engage in the half-bearing 5d. The rotation of the crank button 16 in the direction of the arrow X causes the upward oscillation of the balance 4 around its point of articulation 4b. This oscillation causes the release lever 6 to oscillate upwards around its pivot 2b.
The movement of the balance 4 causes the lifting of the piston 2 since the roller 4a rests on the rod 2a of this piston. The pin 9a meets the tilting part 10 which, as a result of the free space 11b which surmounts it, allows the pin 9a to go beyond said tilting part 10.
When the crank button 16 is in its highest position, the various parts of the press are in the position shown in Figure 3.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
It can be seen that the roller 22a has been brought below a projection 6a of the release lever 6 This movement of the roller 22a has been caused by the counterweight 20 as soon as the projection 6a has been sufficiently raised. From the aforementioned moment, the balance 4 begins to descend under the action of its own weight, as well as under the thrust of the rollers 17b and 17d acting on the parts 8 and 9.
When the spindle 9a meets the tilting part 10. it causes the displacement of the elbow lever 11 in the direction of the arrow Y.
This movement causes the unlocking of the cover 14, which immediately rises under the action of its counterweight 14a. The locking device 13 as well as the parts connected to it are brought into the position shown in FIG. 4.
The descent of the balance 4 is accompanied by the descent of the release lever 6. The descent of the latter is carried out under the same conditions until the moment when the projection 6a comes to rest against the roller 22a. From this moment, the release lever 6 pivots counterclockwise around the roller 22a.
This oscillation causes the bricks to be released from the mold as shown in FIG. 4. This oscillation takes place over a relatively large amplitude. The force applied to the piston 2 to perform the demolding is relatively low compared to that which is applied to it during compression. The amplitude of the displacement during the compression is moreover naturally reduced compared to the amplitude necessary for demolding. This is because the rod 7 is connected to the compression balance. 4. and to the release lever 6 at a distance from the articulation point 4b of this equal balance
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
several times the distance between this articulation point 4b and the fulcrum of said balance on the rod 2a of the piston 2.
At a given moment, the balance 4 is stopped in its descent by the fact that a curved part 4d comes to rest against a wooden block 23. From this moment, the crank button 16 is released from the half-bearing. 5d and the connecting rod 5 oscillates around its point of articulation with the balance 1 under the action of its counterweight 5a.
This oscillation is stopped when the connecting rod 5 abuts against a piece of wood 24.
The rotation of the plate 17 also causes the stop 18 to meet by the cam 17f. This meeting causes, via the rod 18a, the oscillation of the lever 19 in the direction of clockwise. This oscillation is sufficient to bring, through the intermediary of the rod 21, the roller 22a to the side of the rib 6a. As soon as the roller 22a is in this position, the release lever can fall back by pivoting about its articulation with the link 7 At this moment, all the parts of the press are returned to the position shown in figure 1.
It is obvious that the invention is not exclusively limited to the embodiment shown and that many modifications can be made, in the form, 4; - the arrangement and the constitution of the elements involved in its realization without outside the scope of this patent.
