<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

Improvements made to agglomerate presses.
The present invention relates to improvements made to agglomerate presses and more particularly to brick presses, treating unmixed dry earth. These improvements, which aim to achieve the mechanical actuation of these machines, apply more especially to those in which the mold receives, at its upper part, a base capable of being erased automatically when the pressure necessary for conformity.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
tion of materials is achieved; the lower bottom of this mold being constituted by a press plate which can be actuated by an operating lever.
The essential aim of the invention therefore consists in automatically carrying out, from a motor with continuous rotational movement, the various alternative and discontinuous operations over time which allow the molding of the raw materials with a view to obtaining the agglomerated material.
For this purpose, the press lever which actuates the movable lower bottom of the mold is connected to a winch drum which can be automatically engaged or disengaged with respect to the member receiving the motive power.
Essentially, the engagement lever of the upper base of the mold and the press lever can actuate, during the phases of the operation of the machine, the locking devices which allow the controls of the movements received by the winch drum, so that all shaping and mold release operations of the ag. glomere are performed automatically.
On the attached drawing and by way of example: -
FIG. 1 is a vertical section of a press provided with the improvements which are the subject of the invention.
Figure 2 is a side view.
Figure 3 is a detail view of the automatic clutch system
FIGS. 4 and 5 are respectively, in elevation and in profile view, views of a construction detail of the automatic clutch system.
Essentially, the press consists of a frame 1., serve as a support for a mold 2, this mold is closed at its lower part, by a press plate 3 which can enter it internally, this press plate 3 depending on two balances parallels 4 articulated around a horizontal axis 5 on a frame 1 of the machine. These pendulums 4
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
can be moved upwards, as well as the press plate 3 depending, due to the tilting, about a horizontal axis 6, of an operating lever 7. On the other hand, the mold is closed, at its upper part by a bottom
8 carried on a lever 9 articulated on a frame 1.
An interlocking system 10 automatically releases the bottom
8 and return it to the rest position, as soon as the maximum pressure that the material must undergo is reached.
The object of the improvements of the present invention are to automatically carry out, from a motor which receives a continuous rotational movement, the various discontinuous operations making it possible to produce the molding of the raw materials constituting the material.
For this purpose this motor 11, actuates by any suitable transmission system, a pulley or plate 12, the axis of which is arranged perpendicularly to the plane in which the control lever 4 moves angularly, acting on the lower bottom 3 of the pressure plate of the mold 2. This pulley or plate 12 has, on one of its faces a clutch member (female cone 15. for example). On another face it carries a tubular hub 14, arranged in a barrel 15 belonging to one of the supports 16 of the mechanism frame. The bottom of the tubular hub 14 is supported, by means of interposed balls 17, on a screw 18, passing through the bottom of the fine barrel 15 forming an adjustable stop.
The pulley or plate 12 is, on the other hand, centered by a shaft 19, one end of which engages in the tubular hub 14 A spring 21 is interposed between the end of this shaft and the corresponding bottom of the tubular hub
14.
The shaft 19 is fixed, in rotation but it can undergo translations relative to its axis .11 supports a ball stopper 21 against which a sleeve 22 can be rotated relative to said shaft 19. This sleeve 22 carries the other element of the clutch (as male 24) before cooperating
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
with that 13 that has the pulley or plate 12. This sleeve 22 constitutes a winch drum on which is wound the belt 25 which must actuate the oscillating lever, operating the press this belt 25 passing through this effect, on the return pulley 2 6, carried by the frame 1.
At its opposite end, this drum 22 shoulders against a plate 26 belonging to the shaft 19 and fixed in rotation.
Fingers 27 are fitted radially on the periphery of this plate 26, formed by cylindrical rollers carried by rods 28, the axes of which pass through that of shaft 19. These fingers 27 appear in front of the corresponding cells 29 made on the face of a pinion with lantern 30 movable relative to the fixed shaft. This pinion 4 comprises two rings whose axes cooperate respectively with a pawl 33 acting on the fixed shaft. the mechanism for engaging the upper base 8 of the mold and with a pawl 54 which depends on the operating lever 7.
For this purpose the customer 33 is connected to the rocking lever 10 which engages the one 9 carrying the upper base 8 of the mold.
The second pawl 34 is joined to a pivoting lever 35, articulated on a press frame 1 and on which acts, during its angular displacement, stops 36, 37, carried by the press lever 7.
The operation is then as follows: - After filling the molds with soil. The opener - closes the cover 8, the hook 10, automatically closes * this one by means of the connecting rod 10 and the ratchet bar 33 rotates the lantern pinion 30 rela- tives to the fixed shaft 19. The cells 29 of the face of this pinion 30 appear in front of the fingers or rollers 27 and cause longitudinal displacement of the movable part
24, of the clutch, under the action of relaxation of the spring 21.
The engagement of the winch drum 22 with the constantly rotating pulley or plate 12 is thus achieved.
AT
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The belt 25 is wound on the drum 22 and on itself, the diameter increases as the winding progresses which has the aim of gradually increasing the speed.
This belt determines the angular displacement of the press lever 7 acting on the movable lower bottom 3 of the mold. The rockers are lifted by means of the hooks 39 until the spacer 40 attacks the end of the slides 41.
At this moment the lever 35 provided with a counterweight, (which until then was due to its own weight kept behind the vertical passing through its axis of oscillation) is struck by the finger 36 which the press lever 7 carries.
By moving towards the right (figure 1) this lever 35 acts on the pawl 34, which determines an angular displacement of determined amplitude, of the pinion to the lantern 30. This displacement presents the projections separating the cells 29, from the face of the pinion 30 in front of the fixed fingers or rollers 28, the latter against the action of the spring 21, engaging with these projections so that the shaft 19 moves longitudinally causing the winch drum to disengage 22.
The active movement of the press lever 7 thereby ceases although the motor It continues to run.
The interlock 42 at the end of the pressure is engaged with the spacer 43 of the rockers 4 actuating the movable bottom 3.
The traction ceasing on the press lever 7,1 'spacer 43 acts because of the decompression on the clicker 42.
This movement determines the oscillation of the lever 10, which frees the lever 9 carrying the upper bottom 8 of the mold. The spring 44 acts to return the latter to the standby position.
The lever 10, when it opens, turns the pinion gear 30 by means of the pawl 33. The pinion 30 being offset with respect to the fingers or rollers 28 once again enabled the spring 21 to determine the clutch. winch drum 22. The press lever 7 is thereby driven in its movement. the lower bottom 3 of the mold rises
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
/ 1 * expulsion into the latter to produce / shaped material.
The lever 10 therefore controls the two clutches, while the two clutches are determined by the pawl 34 and the stop 37.
At the end of its travel, the lever 7 strikes, through its stop 37, one of the axes of the lantern pinion 30, which produces the angular offset of the latter relative to the fingers or rollers 28 actuating the clutch 13, 24. The offset causes the release of the drum 22 from the winch. The press lever 7 biased by the weight of the various levers and connecting rods actuate the movable bottom 3 of the press is returned to its initial position to allow a new operation of the lever which, through the belt 25, drives the drum 22 of the press. winch / is disengaged from the pulley or motor plate 22.
At the same time, the lever 35 is rejected in its position (figure,!) As a result of its contact with the stop 45 which the lever 7 carries.
In summary, the purpose of this device is to automate the following operations: -
1 - Closing the hook 10.
2 - First pull of lever 7.
3 - Opening the hook 10.
4 - Opening the cover 8.
5 - Second pulling of the lever 7. and therefore gives the following advantages.
1 - Double pressure.
2 - Production almost doubled, its output per hour being from 1,000 to 1,100 bricks, instead of 600 for the hand machine, with the same staff.
3 - Suppression of a man precisely the one in charge of the most exhausting work that it is that is to say. the pull of the press lever.
This device can be adapted to all presses for bricks or agglomerates operating with arms, the machines in service can eh be provided.
