un ressort, constitue un oanal commun pour la sortie du lubri- fiant ;
Dans la première utilisation, toute la charge de lubri- fiant peut être donnée par -quantités successives très petites ou toute entière à la fois au moyen du piston aspirant et foulant;

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
Pendant @
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

in addition the high pressure pump mechanism comes into action automatically as soon as a relatively great resistance is opposed to the exit of the lubricant and the outlet of the apparatus is applied more strongly on the tube. place to lubricate, the syringe assembly then moving forward on the sliding working cylinder and the expelling piston of the high pressure pump mechanism penetrating inside the latter.
So the lubricating syringe can be used as an ordinary lubricating syringe and high pressure lubricating syringe.
In the first use, the entire lubricant charge can be given in very small successive amounts or entirely by means of both the suction and press piston;
in the second use, on the other hand, it can only be given in individual quantities at high pressure, corresponding to the distance up to which the expelling piston of the high pressure pump mechanism enters the cylinder of the pump. sliding work. The sliding working cylinder is preferably constructed without a valve, so that it can also suck the lubricant contained in a reservoir, when the sucking and pressing piston mounted in the syringe cylinder is removed, so so that the syringe can therefore be filled in a very simple way.
The sliding working cylinder and the expelling piston of the high pressure pump mechanism are solicited by a common spring which separates them axially and which presses (while allowing them to be spread and removed) the head of the cylinder on the bottom syringe, as well as the perforated backing plate or ejector plunger support spacer on an appendage of the syringe barrel.

The goodness of the sliding working cylinder is ensured in the bottom of the syringe by a sealing washer passed over it, resting on the bottom and stressed alternately by the pressure of the spring of the high pressure pump mechanism and by that of the lubricant
The accompanying drawing is a longitudinal section showing an exemplary embodiment of the invention in four different positions.
In this drawing:
Figure 1 shows the lubricating syringe at rest, completely free, with the protective cap screwed onto the sliding working cylinder and the mouthpiece;
Figure 2 shows the lubricating syringe, the mouthpiece immersed in the reservoir containing the lubricant, while the suction and treading piston of the syringe is withdrawn to fill it;
Figure 3 shows the lubricating syringe while lubricating a non-resistance ball bearing and
Figure 4 shows the entry into force of the high pressure syringe pump mechanism to overcome the resistance to the release of lubricant during lubrication of a sliding bearing, a is the syringe cylinder carrying a bottom b and a cover c and serving to contain the lubricant.
A constriction made in its casing forms inside a sort of bead or rim d: Above this bead is the syringe's suction and pressing piston e, the piston whose rod f passes through the cover o and carries an appropriate handle on the outside g. This suction and treading piston is made up of two deep-drawn leathers pressed one on the other by their bottoms

by means of a spring el which rests on a washer ± 1 of the piston rod.
The high pressure pump mechanism is mounted in the anterior part of the barrel a of the syringe. This mechanism is constituted by the sliding working cylinder h without valve and by the expelling piston i, cylinder and piston between which is mounted a compression spring k which separates them axially. The sliding working cylinder h is guided in the reinforced part of the bottom b of the syringe and provided with a particular mouthpiece 1 applied to the place to be lubricated.
Instead of the mouthpiece shown in the drawing, any other suitable mouthpiece can also be used. Over the sliding working cylinder h is passed a seal washer m made of leather or similar material, embracing this cylinder in a sealed manner and resting freely on the bottom b of the syringe. The reinforced head hl of the sliding working cylinder also rests on the bottom of the syringe or on the sealing washer e which is located above and the compression spacer spring k rests on its base a little. larger * In the head of the sliding working cylinder h is fixed a sealing washer n made of leather or similar material, ensuring the integrity of the expelling piston i with respect to the inside of the sliding working cylinder.
The expelling piston i is fixed on an annular washer pierced with passage openings ol and pressed continuously on the inner rim or bead d of the cylinder a of the syringe. The bottom b of the syringe has a 1: .1 threaded outer appendage on which a cap p can be screwed to protect the protruding part of the sliding working cylinder and its mouth when the syringe is not in use. To use the syringe, you have to remove this skin; To rem- @

Fold the lubricant syringe, the mouthpiece 1 is plunged into the lubricant reservoir and the suction piston is withdrawn and pressed in the direction of the arrow (figure 2).
As this piston can only be pushed forward as far as the rim or bead d, the front part of the syringe oylinder which contains the high pressure pump mechanism is filled, before the first use of the pump. syringe, of air which must be expelled by a repeated reciprocating movement of the aspirating and pressing piston.
When all the air is expelled, the withdrawal of the piston causes the suction of the lubricant which enters through the mouth 1 into the sliding working cylinder h, bypasses the expelling piston i and finally enters through the openings ol of the washer ring finger. 2. which xxx carries this piston to under the suction and treading piston and fills all the free space inside the cylinder, the syringe.
To carry out a lubrication operation by means of the syringe thus ready, when there is no resistance to the lubricant, as is the case for example for the lubrication and filling of ball bearings (figure 3) and of.; ring bearings, or for filling the most diverse lubricant containers, as well as for the usual simple projection of the lubricant (as is done by means of a simple known syringe) ,. it suffices to exert a simple pressure on the handle g of the suction piston and pressing e in the direction of the arrow (figure 3) to release the lubricant and to introduce it into the part to be lubricated or into the container in question.
However, when the lubricant regains sufficient resistance at the outlet point of the mouthpiece, as is the case for example for the lubrication of sliding bearings-
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
ment (figure 4), it is necessary to exert a greater force on the handle g of the suction and treading piston e. Under the increasing pressure thus exerted, the lubricant is compressed in the cylinder of the syringe and as soon as the pressure exceeds the tension of the spring k, the whole syringe moves a little forwards on the sliding working cylinder h of the meoansime high pressure pump and its expelling piston i enters this mechanism.
A part of the lubricant which is inside part corresponding to the depth of penetration of the piston "in the sliding working cylinder, is then discharged or expelled under a higher pressure. This higher pressure corresponds to the differential ratio between the two pistons e and i and it is sufficient to overcome the resistances which oppose the exit of the lubricant through the mouth l.
When the mouthpiece 1 is pressed on the place to be lubricated, it is naturally necessary to ensure the etanoheity between the two, which can be done for example by giving an appropriate shape to the parts to be pressed one on the other and to their pressure surfaces, as well as by means of a sufficiently strong application pressure.
This tight seal, which prevents lubricant from escaping to the side when the syringe is pressed, also prevents the suction of outside air when letting the syringe go back, as long as the mouthpiece remains applied to the syringe. lubrication hole * There is therefore produced in the sliding working cylinder h, while the expelling piston i exits from this cylinder under the action of the spacer spring k which expands, a depression as a result of which a new quantity of lubricant is sucked and taken from the reserve which is in the cylinder a of the syringe, at the moment when the free end of the expelling piston exits the sliding working cylinder h.
During @
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
that the syringe slides backwards on oelui-oi, the mouthpiece 1 remains applied in etanohe way on the place to be lubricated, under the action of the tensioned spring k. The suction of the lubricant taken from the reserve contained in the syringe cylinder and its introduction into the sliding working cylinder during the relaxation of the device are assisted by the pressure of the suction and treading piston e on which the hand acts directly, pressure which is still transmitted to the lubricant directly before and after the work of the spring k.
Whenever the high pressure pump mechanism has kicked in. ' its sliding working cylinder h therefore immediately fills again with lubricant taken from the reserve contained in the cylinder a of the syringe. Lubricant is supplied, by the valveless sliding working cylinder of the high pressure pump mechanism, both when the syringe is used as a simple grease syringe and when it is used as a high pressure grease syringe.
