STYLOGRAPHE...
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>

STYLOGRAPH ...
The subject of the invention is a stylograph or reservoir pen holder of the type comprising a cartridge or reserve containing an encrogenic substance, for example concentrated ink, the filling of the stylograph being carried out using water, in a good quantity. determined, to which is added a specific quantity of this en- crogenic substance
The stylograph, according to the invention, is characterized in that the reserve of concentrated ink or of encrusted substance comprises a perforated deformable part on which the filling means act in their movement by causing a modification of the predetermined value of the volume.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
of said reserve or cartridge.
The filling means will be, for example,. a plunger, in which case the ink-forming substance reserve cartridge will be bonded to the plunger, or will constitute the filling plunger, its deformable part abutting an interior projection of the stylograph during movement of the plunger and the cartridge.
Said means may also be constituted by a flexible bag in combination with an organ, capable of putting pressure on this bag and of flattening it in order to express its contents; in this case, the member acting on the flexible bag will be provided to deform during its movement the reserve of encrusted substance, the deformable part of which will form part of the wall of said flexible bag.
According to one object of the invention, the ink reserve will comprise a perforated flexible wall which is deformed either by abutment against a fixed projection of the stylograph in the case of the use of a piston, or by the action of the pen. member for flattening the flexible reservoir bag, in the case of the use of such a filling means.
Another object of the invention consists in giving said flexible wall the shape of a perforated acorn which is retroverted by the organ used for its deformation. The perforations of the glans will advantageously be arranged outside the surface on which the deforming member acts.
According to one arrangement of the invention, said acorn is constituted by a terminal retroversion of the flexible reservoir bag, the sealing of the encrogenic reserve being obtained by means of an elastic expansion blade placed in the retroverted part of the bag. , so as to apply the walls against those of the body of the stylograph.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
According to another arrangement of the invention, the deformable part of the reserve forming a filling piston is constituted by a perforated plunger, capable of penetrating into the cartridge under the action of an internal stop of the stylograph. and usually held up by a spring or the equivalent.
The invention also provides for making removable the part of the body of the stylograph which surrounds the piston forming a reserve of concentrated ink, which makes it possible, by turning it over, to use it as a handle for actuating the piston.
Other objects of the invention will be described herein. after with reference to the accompanying drawing by way of example and on which:
Figures 1 and 2 show in longitudinal section 'nal an embodiment of a stylograph according to the invention in the position of use and during filling.
FIG. 3 is a detailed view of a variant of a stylograph of the same type as that of FIGS. 1 and 2, that is to say with piston filling.
FIG. 4 shows in longitudinal section another embodiment of the stylograph in the case of the flexible bag type.
Figures 5 and 6 are cross sections on the lines V-V and VI-VI of Figure 3.
Referring to Figures 1 and 2, it can be seen that the stylograph according to the invention comprises a tubular body 10 leaving therein a cylindrical chamber 11.
At its front part, this body ends with a reinforcement 12, on which is made an internal thread 13.
The anterior end is formed by a flat face 14 At its posterior part, the body 10 has an internal thread 15, but which does not necessarily exist as far as the end part, the latter possibly having a thinning.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
16 and its end face 17, annular, being flat.
With the thread 13 of the front leg cooperates a thread 18 for assembly. on the body 10, a pen-support device 19. The latter comprises, at the rear, a cylindrical part 20 on which the thread 18 is made, then a part of greater radius 21, the annular shoulder, plane 22, thus formed cooperating with the face 14 for the tightening, in order to hold it, of a ring 23
Rod 36 protrudes rearward from the block
19, the distance between the terminal face 40 and the end
41 of the rod 36 which can be considered as the height of a chamber 42.
Inside the body 10 is housed the interior end of a cartridge 54, which comprises two cylindrical parts 55 and 56 of different radii, the connection 57 between these two parts forming a bead 58, the external diameter of which is is larger than that of the diameter of the part 56 o The cord 58 serves by cooperation with a ring 59 externally threaded and assembled with the body 10 by virtue of the tapping 15 thereof, to limit rearwards the movements of the cartridge 54. previous
Around the part / 55 thereof are arranged two sealing rings 60 and 61 cooperating with the internal surface of the body 10 and kept at a distance from each other by means of a wedging ring, 62.
The anterior ring 60 is preferably made of a fairly hard metal, while the ring 61 is a ring suitable for sealing. Retention at the front of the ring 60 is ensured by the rear bead 63 of a sleeve 64 threaded onto the cylindrical part 55 and which has at the front a frustoconical part 66, the tapered end 67 of which cooperates with. the rim 68 that the edge presents
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
front of part 55 and preventing any longitudinal movements of the annular elements mounted on said part.
On the cylindrical part 69 that the sleeve has, 64, between the bead 63 and the frustoconical part 66 is applied in a sealed manner, the edge 70 of a tassel 71 of elastic flexible material ,, for example of rubber with the largest diameter of this acorn being determined by the largest, diameter of the frustoconical part 66. This acorn is pierced forward along one or more openings 72, distant from the axis of the cartridge by a quantity greater than the outer radius of the rod 36.
The posterior lateral surface of the cartridge 54 has an internal thread 73, with which the thread 74 of a casing 75 surrounding the cartridge cooperates and whose anterior end fits into the thinned posterior part 16 of the body 10.
The rear part of the cartridge 54 consists of a bottom 76. A disc 77 can be screwed into this base, having a cylindrical part 78 and a rear cylindrical-conical part 79. This tablet is advantageously of the same color as the substance contained in the cartridge to which it is attached; It facilitates the identification of this color.
The stylograph is filled as follows:
The chamber 91, prior to the cartridge 54, contains a substance, for example concentrated ink, in the form of a paste which, added to the water, transforms the latter into ink.
When the reservoir chamber 11 is empty, the user unscrews the casing 75 and, turning it end to end, again secures it with the cartridge 54, so as to constitute for the latter an extension of the cartridge. 'actuation (Figure 2 By pushing on this extension, the cartridge 54 is then pushed fully into the body 10. The air or liquid remaining
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
@ in room 11 is kicked outside. The ring 60 acts as a scraper and frees the wall of the flesh 11 of any deposit which could damage the sealing ring.
At the end of the stroke of the cartridge, the acorn 71 is pressed down against the end 41 of the rod 36, and the increase in pressure which results in the chamber 91, causes the expulsion in the chamber 42 of a quantity of paste equal to the variation of the internal volume of the acorn 71 and which is therefore well determined. This paste enters the chamber 42 through the perforations 72.
The stylograph is then dipped by its nib in a container filled with water. By a movement in the opposite direction of the cartridge 54 ', a suction is produced which ensures the filling of the chamber 11 with water, the latter dissolving the enorogenic paste, previously expelled into the chamber 42, and thus constituting a ink of definite concentration. The rearward movement of the cartridge 54 is limited by the stop of the cord 57 against the ring 59. A small quantity of ink penetrates inside the cartridge, the acorn 71 returning to its convex shape towards the front. The envelope 75 is in. subsequently returned to its position of use.
After a number of refills. which can be considerable, the cartridge is replaced by a new cartridge. This replacement is carried out as follows: the casing 75 is removed by unscrewing. The ring
59 is then unscrewed, allowing the used cartridge to be released. Replacing it with a new cartridge is done in the reverse way.
According to a variant not shown of the previous device, the front end of the cartridge 54 carries a plunger slidably mounted in place of the .gland 71.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
One or more perforations are made on the front face or on the side wall of the pin * geur piston, in a position such that they remain uncovered when the plunger piston comes into abutment against a stop member 132 integral with the body. A spring contained inside the cartridge rests on one side on the front face of the plunger and, on the other hand, on the rear base of the cartridge 54. of the device is identical to that which has been described above.
Sealing devices for stylograph pistons
1 shown in Figures / and 2 are provided on the piston itself and sliding on the internal face of the reservoir.
The seal which is obtained by this means is quite difficult to achieve, because the piston rubs internally in the very body of the stylograph which is most often made of plastic. However, it is difficult to achieve a perfect bore in the plastic material .
The invention therefore includes a novel sealing means consisting in fixing to the body of the stylograph a sealing ring on which a bored piston rubs, which is of an easier and safer construction.
An embodiment of this arrangement is shown in Figure 3. At the rear end of the body 1 is fixed, for example by screwing, a ring 5, preferably metallic, the half of which * section has the shape of a U, thus having two flanges 6 and 7.
In the interval formed between these edges is disposed a seal 8, rubber, cork or other suitable material, which cooperates with the outer wall 9 of the piston 10.
The front end of the piston 10 has a bead 12 (or carries a pin), cooperating with the flange 6 to limit the rearward movement of said piston.
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
Sealing could also be obtained by direct cooperation of the bored cylindrical piston 10 with an oylindrical ring 5 without a seal, the ring being made of a material having a hardness different from that of the member 10.
According to Figures 4, 5 and 6, the body 101 of generally cylindrical shape of the stylograph is fixed to the front, that is to say on the side of the pen-holder device, an annular member 102 whose rear part 103 is of smaller diameter than the front part, so as to leave a gap 104 with the body 101.
On the rear part 103 is mounted, in a sealed manner, for example by its elastic clamping, a pocket 105 of generally cylindrical shape, made of rubber or the like. This pocket covers substantially the entire volume inside the body 101.
Its posterior end is turned over on itself like a thimble, so as to form an acorn 106.
In the space inside this acorn is housed an elastic annular member 107 which, in cooperation with a shoulder 108 presented by the body 101, provides the seal between the chamber 109 inside the body 101 and a delimited chamber 110. by a reservoir 111, of ogival shape, fixed to the body 101. The rear end of the reservoir 111 is closed by a screw cap 112.
The member 107 is constituted by an elastic blade such as a wound spring blade and the length of which is such that the winding has a length greater than a complete circumference, as is clearly visible in FIG. 5.
In the chamber 109, between the body 101 and the pocket 105 is housed a longitudinal bar 113 which occupies substantially the entire length of the ohambre 109 included.
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
between the posterior end of the ring 102 and the shoulder 108. The upper part of the bar 113 is substantially rectilinear, so as to rest against the wall of the body 101. In the thickness of the bar 113 is formed a groove 114 which serves to accommodate a portion of a lever 115, rotatably mounted on the body 101 by virtue of a transverse pin 116 This lever is arranged in a longitudinal window 117 formed on the body 101 and it ends, towards the rear, with a thinned part 118 in the form of a tab.
The glans 106 has at its anterior part one or more perforations 119.
To fill the stylograph, we operate the lever
115 by its main tab 118 to bring it into the erected position shown in phantom. By this movement, the heel
120 of said lever causes an overall lowering of the bar 113, which crushes the pocket 105 by reducing its internal volume to a very low value.
The simultaneous crushing of the glans 106 increases the pressure prevailing inside the chamber 110 containing the enorogenic substance and a measured quantity of the latter, corresponding to the crushing of the glans, enters through the perforations 119 into the pocket 105 , where it spreads, The seal provided by the expansion of the circular blade 107 prevents any penetration of encrusted substance into the chamber 109.
During the return movement of the lever 115, the pen being immersed in the water by its nib, the pocket 105 returns to its initial shape, by elasticity, which produces a vigorous suction and the water enters the pocket. and fills it. It mixes with the enorogenic substance to constitute the ink, a small quantity of which enters the chamber 110 through the perforations 119 and restores the pressure equilibrium.
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
The stylograph can be filled a considerable number of times, until the encrustation substance is used up. The reservoir then receives a new charge of encrusted substance after removal of the screw 112.
If there is no ink-forming substance, the pen can be filled by immersing it in a bottle of encoder and operating the lever 115.
In a variant, the acorn 106 instead of forming an integral part of the pocket 105 may be independent thereof.
CLAIMS 1-A stylograph comprising writing means, a reservoir, a reserve of concentrated ink or of encrusted substance and filling means, characterized in that the reserve of concentrated ink comprises a perforated deformable part on which the filling means act in their movement by causing a modification of the predetermined value of the volume of said reserve.
