<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

Device for uprooting small tree or other tree stumps --.-------------------- plants¯ --------------- ----------------
The present invention relates to a device for uprooting stumps of small trees or other plants.
Nurserymen use a technique in the cultivation of certain trees, in particular poplars, which consists of removing seedlings from a stump, that is to say plants without roots in order to cut them. After a few years of production, generally two, the strains becoming too large, they must be removed to replace them.
The removal of these strains can be achieved by grinding them in the soil with specific material, but to avoid the possible development of bacteria, it is
EMI1.1
¯. better to tear them off.
However, the means capable of being used for this purpose, of the plow or subsoiler type, suitable for other work, are not suitable for this type of operation, which consists in pulling out, digging up and loading the stumps.
Indeed if these means make it possible to uproot the stumps, it remains to rid them of the earth which they retain, and to charge them in order to burn them.
On the other hand, they do not make it possible to uproot strains having certain peculiarities, for example to have long vertical roots.
The present invention aims to remedy this deficiency, by proposing a lifting device
EMI1.2
rus- for removing and cleaning stumps, to which a loading device can be adapted.
The tear-off device according to the invention is essentially characterized in that it comprises, integral with a chassis coupled to the three-point hitch of a tractor, on the one hand a U-shaped ploughshare positioned vertically comprising lateral branches vertical connected lower by a transverse part; on the other hand, secured inside and in front of said ploughshare, at least one inclined iron
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
forward ; and on the other hand, behind said ploughshare, at least two parallel rollers driven in rotation, arranged transversely relative to the plowshare and along an inclined plane.
In operation, the base of the share and the front shoe are driven into the ground, the stump is torn off and is lifted from the ground by sliding on the inclined iron, and the lateral roots are cut by the share, then the stump passes over the rollers which rid it of the earth and drag it in order on the one hand to complete the extraction of the lower roots, and on the other hand to project it backwards.
According to an additional characteristic of the device according to the invention, the transverse part of the share is in an arc of a circle.
According to an additional characteristic of the device according to the invention, the rollers rotate at different speeds, the rear roller rotating faster than the front roller, the one or more intermediate rollers rotating at an intermediate speed.
According to an additional characteristic of the device according to the invention the rollers are provided with teeth.
According to an additional characteristic of the device according to the invention, the teeth of the roller most
EMI2.1
distant from the share are long and positioned substantially -. tangentially to said roller, while the roller closest to the share has short teeth and positioned substantially radially, the teeth of the intermediate roller or rollers being of an intermediate length between those of said end rollers, and being located in positions also intermediate or in a substantially radial position.
According to a variant of the device according to the invention, a loading device is added to it
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
fixedly, comprising a lifting belt with bars provided with spikes, positioned at the rear of the last drive roller, to which it is united by means of a comb between the teeth from which the teeth of said roller pass.
According to a particular embodiment of the device according to the invention, the shoe positioned inside the share comprises, in front of the share, a straight front part and, behind the share, a rear part composed of branches arranged transversely in a fan shape .
The advantages and features of the present invention will become more apparent from the
EMI3.1
-. description which follows and which relates to the appended drawing, which represents a nonlimiting embodiment thereof.
EMI3.2
In the accompanying drawing: - Figure 1 shows a schematic view in. : perspective of a device according to the invention - Figure 2 shows a partial schematic perspective view of a variant of the device according to the invention.
Referring to Figure 1 we can see that a lifting device 1 according to the invention comprises, on a robust frame, not shown, coupled to the three-point hitch of a tractor, a shaped share 10 of U, comprising two vertical lateral branches 11 and 12 parallel, connected lower by a part 13 in an arc.
EMI3.3
'In the middle and at the lower part 13 of the ploughshare 10 is secured, by means of a lug 14, an oblique iron 2, inclined towards the front, comprising a straight part 20 projecting forward the plowshare 10, and a rear part 21 comprising three irons 22 arranged transversely in a fan behind the coulter 10.
According to a variant, the device can comprise several straight irons arranged side by side, parallel or at a certain angle, deviating towards the rear.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The device also comprises three rollers 3,4 and 5, placed transversely one next to the other behind the iron 2, and comprising teeth 30, 40 and 50 respectively.
The teeth 50 of the furthest roller 5 are longer than the teeth 40 of the intermediate roller 4 which are themselves longer than the teeth 30 of the roller 3 closest to the iron 2.
On the other hand, the teeth 50 are substantially tangent to the roller 5, and the teeth 30 are substantially radial to the roller 3, while the teeth 40 are in an intermediate position, but can also be arranged radially.
The rollers 3, 4 and 5 are driven in rotation in the same direction according to the arrows R, by means of a transmission system; vs. assique, not shown, connected to the PTO of the tractor.
This transmission makes it possible to rotate the rollers 3,4 and 5 at different speeds, the furthest roller 5 rotating faster than roller 4 which rotates faster than roller 3.
If we now refer to Figure 2 we can see that a loading device 6 is added to the lifting device 1. This device. loading 6 essentially consists of a lifting platform 60 with bars, placed behind the roller 5 and securely fixed to the frame, not shown, of the tearing device'1.
The junction between the lifting device 1 and the loading device 6 is produced by means of a transverse comb 61, between the teeth 62 from which the teeth 50 of the roller 5 can pass.
In operation, the tractor to which the lifting device 1 is coupled engages astride the line of stumps to be pulled, the lower part of the ploughshare 10 and the right part 20 of the shoe 2 being driven into the ground.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
When the iron 2 encounters a stump, it rises on the iron 2 and is partially torn from the ground, its lateral roots are cut by the lateral branches 11 and 12 of the share 10, while its lower roots remain in the ground by their extremities. After having passed over the irons 22, the stump is driven by the rollers 3,4 and 5 which completely tear it from the ground and rid it of the earth which it contains and which falls between the rollers 3,4 and 5. Finally the teeth 50 of the roller 5 project it onto the lifting platform 60 which transfers it, for example, to a trailer.
The combination of the iron 2 and the rollers makes it possible to uproot a strain while stretching it, thus making it possible to extract a maximum of roots, in particular the lower roots, and also allowing, during this stretching, that the rollers, in particular the rollers 3 and 4 clear the stump of the soil it contains.
The configuration of the rear roller 5, namely the long and substantially tangent teeth 50, allows a projection of the stump backwards and not downwards, the association of these teeth with the comb 61 making it possible to prevent only roots are not inserted between the lifting device 1 and the loading device 6, which could block the system.
It goes without saying that the present invention cannot be limited to the preceding description of one of its embodiments, capable of undergoing a certain number of modifications without departing from the scope of the invention.
