Abstract

The prepared wood fibres are dropped into the sieve system via shredding rollers (12) from where they drop into a hopper. An upper airflow (2) and a lower airflow (3) together blow the fibres up out of an exit duct (4) while larger debris and impurities eg. metals, drop into a sump (13) from where they are ducted out of the hopper. The airflows are recycled, with a small amount of make-up air. The upper airflow is via a gridded structure (14) to spread the flow. The grid is angled to lift the airborne fibres. The shredding rollers are in a rising array with the rotation in the same direction, to move the particles of the slope.
