PATENT. ANPSRÜCHE :

Electric flashlight with compass.
It has already been recognized that a compass that can be illuminated when reading is important for orientation in the dark. For this reason, electric flashlights were equipped with a compass some time ago, but the goal, namely good lighting of the compass rose on the one hand and unhindered and unimpaired light output of the flashlight for other objects on the other, was not achieved. Either you made both end faces of the compass out of glass, illuminated the compass from below and then did not have enough light for observing other objects, or you placed the compass on additional organs, e.g. B. slides, flaps, hinges and received only a poor lighting of the compass rose.
In the latter case, it was particularly annoying that the light source also emitted light rays that blinded the observer's eye and made reading difficult.
The present invention remedies these disadvantages. With it, on the one hand, the compass is brightly illuminated and the actual light source is completely dimmed and, on the other hand, the flashlight emits light without any loss of light when it is to be used as such. Another advantage is that any enlargement of the flashlight, which could lead to unwieldiness, is avoided.
In the drawing, one of the known flashlights is shown. a is the sleeve with
EMI1.1
and the lens y. A compass b is fixedly or interchangeably arranged in the sleeve. The lens 9 sits on the slide c. If the slide is in the position of FIG. 2, the device serves as a flashlight. As with every flashlight, the light rays emerge through the lens g unhindered. If the slide is in the position of FIG. 3, only the illuminated compass is visible through the glass pane i. All other light rays are blocked by the slide c. The reflector f ensures the intensive lighting of the compass.
Instead of the glass pane i, a magnifying glass can be arranged. If the lens g is designed as a magnifying glass and i is retained as a glass pane, the slide c is in the position of the wing. 4 brought. In both cases you can see an enlarged compass.
PATENT. REQUESTS:
1. Electric flashlight with compass, characterized by a compass (b), which sits in the lamp sleeve (a) and is illuminated by the incandescent lamp directly or by means of a reflector.
