Candling device for eggs.
The eggs are usually tested using a device consisting of a tube with an incandescent lamp at one end, while the egg to be tested is placed on the other end.
In this way, the eggs are only sparsely screened and, if the apparatus is used in broad daylight, a conscientious examination of the eggs cannot be carried out at all.
This disadvantage is eliminated by the present invention.
The essence of this is that the rays of a light source are concentrated on the egg to be examined by a reflective ellipsoid made of any material in such a way that the light source is arranged in one focal point of the ellipsoid and the object to be transilluminated in the other focal point.
A further advance in the subject matter of the invention is that one point of the ellipsoid has been removed and replaced by a wall which has an opening intended to receive the egg.
Glass is advantageously used as the material for the ellipsoid because such a glass body can be cast in one piece and the ellipsoid shape, which is otherwise not easy to form, is now achieved in the simplest way by casting.
The use of such a glass body also has the advantage that its outside can be provided with a mirror coating, whereby a total reflection of all rays of the light source takes place after the egg located in the second focal point.
The subject of the invention therefore represents a technical advance of considerable commercial interest.
The subject of the application is shown in an exemplary embodiment in the accompanying drawing.
A reflective ellipsoid k made of any material is provided to concentrate the rays of the light source b on the object i to be tested. The light source b is arranged in one focal point and the object to be tested, i.e. the egg i, in the other. On the side of the ellipsoid opposite the light source, the point of the ellipsoid is removed and replaced by a wall I with an opening e, into which the egg to be x-rayed is inserted.
Glass is advantageously used as the material for the ellipsoid k, since when using glass, the ellipsoid body can easily be produced as a uniform whole casting. The outside of the ellipsoid body k made of glass is expediently provided with a mirror coating n, so that all the rays emanating from the light source b are projected into the second focal point of the ellipsoid. Because the egg to be x-rayed is located in the second focal point of the ellipsoid, it is irradiated in the most perfect way.
