Schmierölgemisch
Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf verbesserte Kohlenwasserstoffschmiermittel und insbesondere auf Gemische aus mineralischen Schmierölen, welche ein gutes Reinigungsvermögen, günstige Wirkung gegen Verschleiss und Schlammbildung sowie gegen Korrosion aufweisen und rosthindemde Eigenschaften haben.
Gewisse, keine Asche bildende polymere stickstoffhaltige Verbindungen, in welchen die stickstoffhaltige Gruppe eine Amino- oder eine Amidogruppe sein kann, wie Vinylpyridine oder Vinylpyrrolidone, wirken als Reinigungsmittel, wenn sie in geringen Mengen zu Schmierölen, z. B. mineralischen Schmier- ölen, zugesetzt werden. Es ist jedoch festgestellt worden, dass Mischpolymerisate dieser Art keine verschleisshindernden Eigenschaften haben, korrodierend wirken und unter scharfen Arbeitsbedingungen, wie hohe Temperaturen und hohe Drücke, in bezug auf Scherwirkung unbeständig sind, wodurch sich Schlammbildung und andere unerwünschte Begleiterscheinungen ergeben.
Der Zusatz basischer Salze mehrwertiger Metalle, wie basische Erdalkalierdölsulfonate oder aromatische Carbonsäuren, z. B. von Alkylsalicylaten, verleiht Schmiermitteln, welche die oben erwähnten nicht Asche bildenden Reinigungsmittel enthalten, verschleisshindemde Eigenschaften. Es ist jedoch festgestellt worden, dass das Problem der Korrosion trotzdem bestehen bleibt und unerwünschte Nebenwirkungen, wie Schlammbildung, infolge der komplexbildenden Neigung zwischen dem stickstoffhaltigen Polymerisat und den basischen Metallsalzen auftreten.
Es ist nun gefunden worden, dass vorzügliche aschefreie, reinigend wirkende Schmiermittel erhalten werden können, welche zusätzlich verschleisshindernde und korrosionshindernde Eigenschaften haben und auch gegen die Neigung zur Schlammbildung widerstandsfähig sind, wenn eine geringe Menge eines öllöslichen N-aminoalkylsubstituierten Imidazolinsalzes oder eines Komplexes aus einem organischen Säurephosphat oder-phosphonat oder ihren Thioderivaten zu Schmierölen, wie mineralischen Schmierölen, welche polymere stickstoffhaltige Reinigungsmittel enthalten, zugesetzt wird. Die reinigend wirkenden stickstoffhaltigen Polymerisate, welche in Gemischen gemäss der Erfindung brauchbar sind, umfassen Mischpolymerisate von Monomeren, die stickstoffhaltige Gruppen enthalten, welche Amino- oder Amidogruppen darstellen können. Sie können abgeleitet sein von Monomeren, wel- che primären, sekundären oder tertiären (die beiden letztgenannten werden bevorzugt) Aminostickstoff enthalten, einschliesslich heterocyclischer amino-oder amidostickstoffhaltiger Stoffe, welche eine äthylenisch ungesättigte polymerisierbare Gruppe enthalten.
Diese reinigend wirkenden Polymeren können durch Polymerisieren vinylsubstituierter, heterocyclischer stickstoffhaltiger Stoffe, wie Vinylpyridin, Vinylpicolin und Vinylchinolin, Vinylpyrrolidon oder Vinylarylamine, wie p-Aminostyrol oder Polyamine, die hergestellt worden sind durch Umsetzung polymerer Epoxy Verbindungen mit Ammoniak oder primären bzw. sekundären Aminen, mit polymerisierbaren ungesättigten Alkoholen, Säuren oder Estern, wie Acrylaten und Methacrylaten langkettiger Fettsäuren u. dgl. erhalten werden.
Die bevorzugten polymeren Amino- oder Amidoverbindungen sind solche, die tertiäre Aminogruppen enthalten und insbesondere sol- che, die heterocyclische Aminogruppen enthalten, wie sie durch Copolymerisation einer polymerisierbaren heterocyclischen Stickstoffbase mit einem polymerisierbaren, ungesättigten, von heterocyclischen Stickstoff enthaltenden Resten freiem Material erhalten werden, wie in der brit. Patentschrift Nr. 760, 544 und in den USA-Patentschriften Nr. 2, 839, 512 und Nr. 2, 889, 282 beschrieben. Die Mischpolymerisate umfassenMischpolymerisate von Stearylmethacrylat und 2-Methyl-5-vinylpyridin ; Mischpolymerisate aus Stearylmethacrylat, Laurylmethacrylat und 2-Methyl-5-vinylpyridin ; ferner solche, welche im Poly- merisat zusätzUche C.
Alkylmethacrylate enthallen, wie Mischpolymerisate von Stearylmethacrylat ; Laurylmethacrylat, Methylmethacrylat und 2-Methyl-5 -vinylpyridin ; und ähnliche Mischpolymerisate. in welchen das Methylmethacrylat durch Butylmethacrylat ersetzt ist und 2-Methyl-5-vinylpyridin durch 5-Äthyl-2-vinylpyridin ersetzt ist; ferner Copolymerisate aus Laurylmethacrylat und N-Vinylpyrrolidon oder ähnliche Mischpolymerisate, wie in der belgischen Patentschrift Nr. 550442 und in der brit. Patentschrift Nr. 808, 664 beschrieben, sowie Gemische solcher Stoffe. Acrylat-Vinylpyrrolidon-Mischpolymerisate werden von der Firma Roehm & Haas unter den Bezeichnungen Acryloid 315 X, 917 oder 966 in den Handel gebracht.
Es sind Mischpolymerisate aus N-Vinylpyrrolidon und Laurylmethacrylat mit wechselndem Molgewicht ; andere geeignete polymere Amine sind solche, die im Handel erhältlich sind und z. B. von der Firma E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Company unter den Bezeichnungen LOA 564 und 565 geliefert werden. Diese sind Copolymere aus Laurylmethacrylat und Diäthylaminoäthylmethacrylat (beschrieben in der USA-Patentschrift Nr. 2, 737, 496).
Besonders bevorzugte reinigend wirkende Polymerisate sind die Mischpolymerisate Acryloid 917 oder 966 (Mischpolymerisat aus Laurylmethacrylat, N-Vinylpyrrolidon, Molgewicht = 600 000) oder die Mischpolymerisate aus Vinylpyridin und Gemischen von verschiedenen Methacrylatestern, deren Herstellung durch die folgenden Beispiele erläutert wird.
Beispiel l : Ein Gemisch aus 25% 2-Methyl-5-vinylpyridin und 75% Stearylmethacrylat wurde in einem 50/50-Gemisch aus Benzol und einem leichten Mineralöl (East Texas 100 SSU bei 37, 80C neutral) auf etwa 1200C erhitzt, worauf 0, 25 Gew.-% ditert.-Butylperoxyd zugegeben wurden. Das Reaktionsgemisch wurde bei dieser Temperatur etwa 6 h gehalten.
Nach Beendigung der Reaktion wurde das Lösungsmittel abgestreift, das Polymerisat mit neutralem Öl auf einen Polymergehalt von etwa 30 Gew.-% verdünnt und dann bei 100-1200C filtriert. Das Misch-

000Dann wurde ein 50/50-Gemisch ausBenzol und neutralem Erdöl in den Autoklaven gegeben, so dass 1 Teil des Gemisches auf 3 Teile des gesamten Monomerenkamen. 0, 25% ditert.-Butylperoxyd wurden dann zugegeben und das Gemisch wurde etwa 7 h auf 1200C erhitzt.
Nach beendigter Reaktion wurde das Benzol bis zu einer Endtemperatur von 1200C bei 10 mm Hg unter Stickstoffatmosphäre abgestreift. Das benzolfreie Produkt wurde dann mit neutralem Öl auf einen Polymergehalt von etwa 30 Gew.-% verdünnt und bei 100 - 1200C filtriert. Das Polymerisat hatte ein Molgewicht von etwa 600 000 und einen Stickstoffgehalt von 0. 540/0.
Das Mittel zur Verhinderung von Verschleiss und Korrosion für die oben genannten Reinigungsmittel, welche durch die Formel I dargestellt sind, kann leicht durch Umsetzung eines N-aminoalkylsubstituierten Imidazolins und eines sauren Phosphats oder Phosphonats (zweckmässig Mol für Mol) in einem neutralen Medium, wie einem flüssigen Kohlenwasserstoff oder einem Mineralöl, zwischen Zimmertempera-

tur und 100oC, vorzugsweise bei der niedrigeren Temperatur, z. B. zwischen Zimmertemperatur und 60 C, hergestellt werden.
Die Imidazoline sind bekannte Verbindungen, die nach dem in Chemical Reviews, Band 54, Nr. 4, August 1954 unter dem Titel"TheChemistry of Imidazoles" von Ferm und Riebsomer beschriebenen Verfahren oder nach der in der USA-Patentschrift Nr. 2, 267, 965 beschriebenen Arbeitsweise hergestellt wer-

Beispiele geeigneter Verbindungen sind : l-Aminoäthyl-2-undecylimidazolin, 1-Aminoäthyl-azoline dieser Art sind im Handel erhältlich und werden durch die Firma National Aluminate Corporation unter dem Handelsnamen "Nalcamine" in den Verkehr gebracht, wie "Nalcamin G-32", welches 1-(2-Aminoäthyl)-2-n-C12-18-alkylimidazolin ist.
Ein anderes bevorzugtes Aminoalkylimidazolin wird durch Umsetzen von Polyäthylenpolyamin mit Tallölfettsäuren unter solchen Reaktionsbedingungen (125 bis 2500C) hergestellt, dass das Aminoalkylimidazolin gebildet wird. Ein besonders erwünschtes Polyamin ist ein Gemisch, welches zwischen 20 und 80 Gew.-% Diäthylentriamin oder Triäthylentetramin als Verdünnungsmittel enthält, wobei die restlichen Polyäthylenpolyamine solche von Tetraäthylenpentamin aufwärts sind sowie verwandte höhere Polymere, welche in steigendem Masse eine komplexe Struktur und höhere Molgewichte aufweisen.
Das Gemisch von hochmolekularen Polyäthylenpolyaminen wird normalerweise als Bodenprodukt bei der Herstellung von Äthylendiamin erhalten. Es stellt daher normalerweise ein hochkomplexes Gemisch

Die für die Bildung von Imidazolin mit den Polyäthylenpolyaminen zu verwendenden Fettsäuren sollen 10 bis etwa 22 Kohlenstoffatome pro Molekül und vorzugsweise 17-19 Kohlenstoffatome haben, wenn mindestens 50 Gew. -0/0 der Säure ungesättigt sind, und 10 - 16 Kohlenstoffatome pro Molekül, wenn die Säuren im wesentlichen gesättigt sind. Das hiebei gebildete Produkt kann entweder flüssig oder fest sein.
Dies hängt teilweise von dem Grad der Sättigung der verwendeten Säuren ab. Um ein Produkt herzustellen, das bei den in Betracht kommenden Temperaturen flüssig ist, verwendet man zweckmässig ein Gemisch von Fettsäuren, in welchem mindestens 50 Gel.-% des Gemisches Säuren umfassen, die mindestens eine Doppelbindung pro Molekül enthalten. Besonders zweckmässig enthalten mindestens 85 Gew.-% der Fettsäuren Doppelbindungen und können entweder eine oder zwei Doppelbindungen pro Molekül enthalten. Stearinsäure kann ein Bestandteil des Gemisches sein. Es sollen aber im Gemisch nicht mehr als 50 Gew.-% vorliegen. Linol- und Ölsäure sowie Linolensäure werden bevorzugt.
Die natürlich im Tallöl vorkommenden Säuren sind, was ihre Eigenschaften zur Verwendung bei der Bildung der erfindungsgemäss verwendeten Imidazoline anbetrifft, ganz besonders günstig. Ungesättigte Fettsäuren, welche für diesen Zweck geeignet sind, sind aus den in Tabelle 1 angegebenen Lieferquellen zugänglich.

Der Säureteil des Salzes oder Komplexes umfasst saure Kohlenwasserstoff-Phosphate, z. B. Mono-und Dialkyl-, Mono- und Dicycloalkyl-, Diaralkyl-, Diaryl-, Alkylaryl-, Aralkylalkylphosphate und ihre Thioderivate mit 8 - 30 Kohlenstoffatomen im Molekül. Beispiele geeigneter Mono- und Disäuren und bzw. oder von sauren Thiophosphaten sind saures Mono-und Dioctylphosphat, saures Mono- und Dilaurylphosphat, saures Mono-und Distearylphosphat, saures Mono- und Dioleylphosphat, saures Mono- und Dicyclohexylphosphat, saures Dikresylphosphat, saures Laurylkresylphosphat, saures Dibenzylphosphat, saures Laurylbenzylphosphat, saures Dilauryldithiophosphat, saures Dilaurylthionophosphat ; saure Alkylphosphonate, wie Monobutylchlormethylphosphonat, Monolaurylchlormethylphosphonat u. dgl.
Ein bevorzugtes saures Alkylpnosphat ist saures"Lorol"-Phosphat, welches ein Gemisch von Phosphonsäureestern von Lorolalkohol ist. Die Bezeichnung Lorolalkohol wird in der Technik verwendet, um ein Gemisch aus primären, normalen, aliphatischen Alkoholen mit 8 - 12 Kohlenstoffatomen zu bezeichnen, welche Alkohole durch Fraktionieren der Alkohole, die durch Reduktion von Kokosnuss- und bzw. oder Palmkern- öl gewonnen werden, erhalten werden. Gemische von sauren"Lorol"-Phosphaten sind im Handel leicht erhältlich und werden aus diesem Grunde den gereinigten Estern vorgezogen, welche seltener und zu höherem Preis im Handel erhältlich sind.
Eine Art von saurem"Lorol"-Phosphat wird unter der'Handels- bezeichnung"Ortholeum 162"in den Handel gebracht und besteht wahrscheinlich in der Hauptsache aus einem Gemisch der sauren Mono-und Diphosphate von"Lorol"-Alkohol.

In der Formel III bedeutet X, = CH oder Schwefel und R'ist ein tertiärer Alkylrest. Die meist bevorzugten alkylierten Bisphenole werden durch die Formel III wiedergegeben. Sie haben eine Schwefelbrücke oder-und dies wird ganz besonders bevorzugt - eine M3thylenbrUcke. während R'ein tertiärer Butylrest ist.
Die alkylierten Bisphenole können 1 - 8 Alkylgruppen enthalten ; vorzugsweise enthalten sie 2 - 6 Alkylgruppen. Alkylierte Bisphenole mit 4 Alkylgruppen werden besonders bevorzugt. Jede der Alkylgruppen kann 1 - 10 Kohlenstoffatome. vorzugsweise 2 - 6 Kohlenstoffatome und insbesondere 4 Kohlenstoffatome, enthalten. Die in einem besonderen Bisphenol enthaltenen Alkylgruppen können ferner gleich oder verschieden sein und können auch primäre, sekundäre oder tertiäre Alkylgruppen darstellen. Bisphenole, die mindestens eine tertiäre Alkylgruppe enthalten, werden besonders bevorzugt.
Das alkylierte Bisphenol kann nach einer der in derTechnik der Bisphenolherstellung geeigneten Methoden hergestellt werden, z. B. durch Auswahl der entsprechenden alkylierten Phenole als Ausgangsmaterial und Kondensieren derselben nach einer der üblichen Methoden. Beispielsweise können alkylierte Bisphenole nach der in der USA-Patentschrift Nr. 2, 944, 086 beschriebenen Arbeitsweise hergestellt werden.
Als Beispiele alkylierter Bisphenole, die gemäss der Erfindung verwendet werden können, sind folgende zu nennen : bis-(3-Äthyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-disulfide, bis-(3-Methyl-4-propyl-5-hydroxyphenyl)-

Das Zusammenwirken der Mischungsbestandteile gemäss der Erfindung kann zur Verbesserung verschiedener Kohlenwasserstoffschmieröle (gleichgültig, ob natürlichen oder synthetischen Ursprungs), insbesondere von Ölen, die im wesentlichen paraffinisch oder naphthenisch sind, verwertet werden. Die Öle können wesentliche Anteile von Kohlenwasserstoffen mit aromatischem Charakter enthalten ; vorzugsweise sind aber die Mengen und Arten der Komponenten derart, dass der Viskositätsindex des Basisöles mindestens 80 und vorzugsweise 90-150 beträgt.
Das Öl kann von einémhochparaffinischen Rohöl abgeleitet sein. In diesem Fall kann die Destillation und bzw. oder Entparaffinierung ausreichen, um ein geeignetes Ausgangsmaterial zu erzielen. Gewünschtenfalls kann in geringem Ausmass eine chemische oder selektive Lösungsmittelbehandlung angewendet werden. Rohöle, welche Mischungen von gemischtbasischen Bestandteilen darstellen und sogar hocharomatische Rohöle, welche paraffinische Kohlenwasserstoffe enthalten, ergeben auch geeignete Ölausgangsmaterialien, wenn sie einer bekannten Raffinierungsbehandlung unterworfen werden.
Gewöhnlich besteht diese Behandlung in der Abtrennung von Destillatfraktionen von geeignetem Siedebereich, gefolgt von einer selektiven Lösungsmittelextraktion mit Lösungsmitteln, wie Furfurol, Phenol u. dgl., um Raffinatfraktionen zu erhalten, welche für die weitere Raffination durch Entparaffinieren und chemische Behandlung, wie Schwefelsäurebehandlung usw., geeignet sind. Zum Beispiel kann die Fraktion ein raffiniertes Kohlenwasserstofföl darstellen, das aus einem paraffinischen, naphthenischen, asphaltischen oder gemischtbasischen Rohöl und bzw. oder Gemischen solcher Öle, wie SAE 5W, 10W, 20W, 20,30, 40, 50 Mineralöl erhalten worden ist. Die Kohlenwasserstofföle können Gemische verschiedener Mineralöldestillate und Brightstock darstellen.
Sie können in kleinen, aber verträglichen Mengen fette Öle, wie Rizinusöl, Specköl u. dgl. einverleibt enthalten und bzw. oder mit synthetischen Schmiermitteln, wie polymerisierten Olefinen, z. B. Polyisobutylen, vermischt sein. Die folgenden Gemische sind typische Vertreter der erfindungsgemässen Produkte. Die angegebenen Prozentsätze beziehen sich auf Gewicht.

Claims (1)
- PATENTANSPRÜCHE : 1. Schmierölgemisch, enthaltend einen überwiegenden Anteil eines Kohlenwasserstofföles und untergeordnete Mengen eines polymeren stickstoffhaltigen Reinigungsmittels sowie eines öllöslichen Aminoalkylimidazolinsalzes eines organischen sauren Phosphats oder Phosphonats bzw. seiner Derivate. <Desc/Clms Page number 9>2. Schmierölgemisch nach Anspruch l, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das polymere Reinigungsmit- tel Amino- oder Amidogruppen enthält.3. Schmierölgemisch nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das polymere Reini- gungsmittel ein Mischpolymerisat aus einem Monomeren, das heterocyclischen Stickstoff enthält, und j einem von heterocyclischem Stickstoff freien Monomeren ist.4. Schmierölgemisch nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das poly- mere Reinigungsmittel ein Mischpolymerisat aus einem Vinylpyridin und mindestens einem Alkylacrylat ist, das mindestens 8 Kohlenstoffatome in der Alkylgruppe enthält.5. Schmierölgemisch nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das polymere Reinigungsmittel ein Mischpolymerisat aus 2-Methyl-5-vinylpyridin und einer Mischung von Lauryl- und Stearylmethacrylat und gegebenenfalls noch einem C 1-4 -Alkylmethacrylat ist.6. Schmierölgemisch nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das polymere Reinigungsmittel ein Mischpolymerisat von Vinylpyrrolidon und Laurylmethacrylat ist.7. Schmierölgemisch nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Imidazo- linsalz die Formel EMI9.1 hat, in welcher Reine Alkyl- oder Alkenylgruppe mit 10 - 30 Kohlenstoffatomen, R'Wasserstoff und bzw. oder ein C1-4 -Alkylrest, R" Wasserstoff oder ein, gegebenenfalls Halogen enthaltender Kohlenwas- serstoffrest ist, wobei nicht mehr als einer der Reste R"Wasserstoff darstellt, und X einen Aminoalkyl- oder Polyaminopolyalkylenrest, Y Sauerstoff und bzw, oder Schwefel und n = 0 oder 1 bedeuten. Schmierölgemisch nach Anspruch 11 oder 12, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Fettsäuren 17 bis 19 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten und 50 Gew. -0/0 der Säuren ungesättigt sind.14. Schmierölgemisch nach Anspruch 11 oder 12, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Fettsäuren im wesentlichen gesättigt sind und 10 - 16 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten, 15. Schmierölgemisch nach einem der Ansprüche 9 bis 13, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Fettsäuren Tallölsäuren sind.16. Schmierölgemisch nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 24, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass jeder der Zusatzstoffe in einer Menge von 0,01 bis 25 Gew. -0/0 vorliegt.26. Schmierölgemisch nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 25, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das polymere Reinigungsmittel und das Imidazolinsalz jeweils in einer Menge von 0, 1 bis 10 Gew. -0/0, vorzugsweise 0, 2-5 Gew.-%, vorliegen.27. Schmierölgemisch nach einem der Ansprüche 18 bis 26, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das alkylierte Bisphenol in einer Menge von 0,05 bis 2 Gew. -0/0, vorzugsweise 0, l-l Gew.-%, vorliegt.28. Schmierölgemisch nach einem der Ansprüche 23 bis 27, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Ester einer organischen phosphorhaltigen Säure in einer Menge von 0,01 bis 2 Gew.-'%, vorzugsweise 0, 1 bis 1 Gew.-%, vorliegt.
