Abstract
Un sistema de desulfurización de gases de escape en motores marinos para reducir la cantidad de óxidos de azufre presentes en los gases de escape de uno o más motores diesel de una embarcación marina, que se configura para que pueda funcionar en una modalidad de circuito abierto o de circuito cerrado. El sistema comprende un sistema de depurador húmedo que comprende por lo menos un depurador húmedo dispuesto para la depuración de los gases de escape que se originan en el motor diesel de la embarcación marina usando un líquido de depuración, generando de esa manera un líquido de depuración usado, donde el depurador húmedo comprende uno o más caños para la extracción del líquido de depuración usado para extraer el líquido de depuración usado que precede del depurador húmedo. El sistema también comprende por lo menos un reservorio de preparación dispuesto para preparar una lechada de hidróxido de magnesio por hidrólisis de óxido de magnesio en polvo con agua, donde el reservorio de preparación comprende unos medios para el agregado de agua, medios para el agregado de óxido de magnesio en polvo y medios de agitación para mezclar el agua y el óxido de magnesio en polvo. El sistema comprende además un medio para transportar la lechada que lleva la lechada de hidróxido de magnesio preparada desde el por lo menos un reservorio de preparación hacia donde fluye el líquido de depuración usado que se extrae del depurador húmedo por los uno o más caños para la extracción del líquido de depuración usado para poner allí en contacto la lechada de hidróxido de magnesio con el líquido de depuración usado para limpiar el líquido de depuración usado y/o para neutralizar la acidez de los mismos. Además, un método para reducir la cantidad de óxidos de azufre presentes en los gases de escape de uno o más motores diesel de una embarcación marina.
